Have you ever felt quitting gambling, but could not?

Sometimes it is very hard I mean difficult to stop gambling especially if we started gambling with the mindset to get rich or make a living from it, this mindset and mentality will always make a gamber stay active on gambling despite the amount of money they loss they will still be having the sense and feeling that they will win one day. But some people sometimes realize they can not actually get what they hope for in gambling after so many amount of losses.

Once the thought of quitting continues ringing in the mind of a gambler, trust me is because he has experience much lossing than winning, if not there is no need of thinking of quitting in the first place but as a human we are, the number of lost in gambling can resolve to a gambler quitting in that particular day and the next day, he still continues gambling because he just realized that it is not possible of quitting at the moment, and even me i have experienced such situation not only once, so many that i can't remember but what i end up doing is giving myself a break to be able to identify my errors, incase of my next predictions, i will not repeat such mistake that lead me from losing.

Very possible that we wanted to quit but we couldn't because of the fun we are enjoying from gambling, do I say something that quitting is not the best option because other things can make us addicted as well when we do them in the wrong approach, the best idea in situations like this is to know how we could and ameliorate a situation for good.

If we have been gambling and enjoying how we do it, I don't think there should be a reason for us to think of quitting, but once we have gone into extreme and taken some risks that we cannot afford to cope with, then it comes to our consciousness that we are losing out already and would prefer to quit as quickly as possible.

They always have that thought that winning is just around the corner, and I just need to persevere, so they keep that hope alive, even though they are losing a lot.

Yes if you're older and you're getting on in years you might think you should quit, but on the other hand you need entertainment, and the only entertainment that can bring you a lucky break is gambling, I've wanted to do that, and maybe I was still young.
Seeing and measuring the losses accumulated during the time I was actively gambling did make me complain, how much money was used for gambling, especially the coins we used in crypto currencies experienced a very high price increase, it became even more sad.

I was just pondering within myself why most gamblers keep complaining of the losses they incure in gambling but are unable to quit. There is one thing I noticed that keeps us gambling even when we are not at profit. Every gambler is full of optimism, even though we loose our bet, we still believe subsequent bet will favour us, and it may or may not also work that way. We sometimes see, and hear on the news how some bettors have won huge bet, and they flaunt on the news sometimes with the betting company or what they have achieved with the money they won. All those things we see are real, and they keep motivating us to gamble even while recording long time losses.

High optimism does occur & is felt by most gamblers, even though they have made their 4th or 5th deposit, they still believe that the 6th deposit will be the one that will return all previous losses. One of my bros who has attended training on online gambling once said, even though the winning percentage in gambling is only 0.1%, the average gambler feels that the 0.1% is them, the others are unlucky & only they will be lucky.

I think I have experienced this feeling a thousand times "exaggerates" and I still can't bring myself to quit betting. But to an extent, I think if I was to have a stable job that pays frequently and I'm always occupied, I could stop betting and focus more on my work.

Betting sites is mostly used by unemployed or self employed persons based on my research as they see it as a way of quick money making scheme without any prior knowledge or educational qualifications. It becomes difficult to quit when you have a lot of free time and no much work to do.

The hopes that gambler gets, that what really keeps them inside because how the mind always remembers the little wins more that the many losses that they have gotten, so it makes them feel like the next one will be the one. If someone can balance the mindset and accept that wins are not always guaranteed, it will really help by reducing the emotional pressure and make it easier for you to get in control over betting and allowing hope control you instead

Two things makes a gambler not to quite regardless of numerous losses. One of the things that makes a gambler not to consider quitting despite sequential losses is because of the fun of gambling. Some people just loves gambling and since they do stake with money they could afford to lose they don't even care much if they lose or win. Another that makes a gambler not to quit is the idea of chasing losses, there are some people that can't let go of the money they have already lost so they will always want a revenge mission of trying to recover their losses and even when they feel like giving up, they think about how much they have lost which makes them to always come back to gamble. However, there's this natural love for gambling that almost all gamblers have, and it makes them stuck in the long term even when it is not favorable to them.

We have to be optimistic because nobody knows when they will hit a jackpot. But hopefulness should be added with wisdom. You can't be gambling with more than you can afford to lose because you are hopeful of winning big. Yeah, seeing people with big could serve as a motivation, but we should not believe in every promotion we see showcasing big because some might be fake.  

Another thing is that our luck are different which makes it difficult for you to win big like the few gamblers you saw. I believe majority of gamblers were motivated due to one or two gamblers they saw that win big. Of course, some big wins can be faked just to lure people into gambling which is the main reason why you shouldn't be more focused on profit.

For me I’ve never felt like stopping gambling and find it difficult, and I think it’s simply because I am not attached to it in anyway..
People that normally find themselves in this situations, are those gamblers who has in one way or the other be too attached to gambling..  maybe some of them even seeing gambling as a source of income..

In my opinion, I know gambling to be a thrilling activity and the winning that comes along with it is what make it even more fun, a gambler might not be profitable in gambling but that doesn't mean that they are not winning every once in a while or even every time they gamble, but the way gambling is designed is that, you are going to win and lose at the same time and that's what will even give you more urge to continue playing because you want to know what the next out outcome would be.

 People can say they want to quit but find it difficult to do because they don't know what can replace the thrilling moment they get from gambling, despite that they are not profitable, as long as the person is not addicted, there won't be a problem but when the person is addicted, they would need the help of someone or something external that will help them to fight the addiction.

We believe that we're all careful gamblers until the most expensive losses comes to us. And by that time, we feel that we shouldn't quit yet when we have money to recover from the losses we've made. Even you would feel quitting and disappointed with the situation, you just can't. Each of us have that situation and dilemma that we're facing that we have to do something and to make things right. I control my gambling habit very well and there is no reason for me to quit. A gambler complains whenever he keeps losing again and again, but if he wins, he never complains about gambling. Rather, he considers it a good source of income. I have noticed that, most of the time, people who are new to gambling and lose early blame gambling as a scam, but they expect to hit big on the next bet and try to recover their losses, which results in more gambling, but cannot be recovered. Gambling isn't such that you will be able to hit the big bet after repeated losses. There is no guarantee that you will be addicted to gambling if you continue gambling even after repeated losses. So I think long-term losers in gambling should quit it, don't chase in gambling to recover losses.

I see drug addiction and gambling addiction in the same way. Why can't they quit gambling and drugs even though they know that gambling and drugs are slowly harming them? Actually, there may be no answer to this.

Drug Addiction A friend of mine often regrets his drug use and tries to find a way to quit drugs, but he can't quit drugs in any way. When he is forced to stay away from drugs, he can stay without drugs. But during normal times, he has to take drugs.

I get a simple answer from this, which is self-control or mentality. When the situation prevents you from taking drugs, your mind gets used to being without drugs. But when you return to normal times, your mind goes back to drugs. It is the same in the case of gambling, if you can be determined to quit gambling or force yourself to stay away from gambling, whether it is a situation or for any reason, then it is not difficult to get out of gambling addiction. But we can never win the war with ourselves.

That isn't the only reason they keep gambling, even when they lose. In my experience, I continue to gamble because I want to recover all of my losses; however, I never get lucky enough to win a jackpot or at least recover my losses.
I still bet on the lottery, but until now, I've never hit the jackpot. I know there are still some people lucky, but not everyone could hit a jackpot.

There are patient loosers who are lucky to hit it big after many seasons of losses, but still not every long term looser will be lucky enough to hit big win someday.
Sometimes, as gamblers we fill discouraged in the market, because long term losses. Therefore we should maintain carefulness as we remain in the gambling market, and gamble responsibly if at all you cannot quit as a result of losses.

I believe a person gambles for only a few reasons. The main ones are for example, when a player tries to win back losses and doesn’t want to stop, knowing they’ve already lost a lot of money. Another reason could be that they simply enjoy it and are able to control themselves, they can manage their behavior in gambling and have no problem stopping at any moment.

I fall into the second category, where I can stop at any time and can even go without betting for several months if I have a heavy workload or other plans. When I take on extra work outside my regular schedule, I don’t have time for anything at all. But when I have some free time and the teams I follow are playing, I can start betting again so for me, it’s very easy.

This problem of being difficult to quit is often caused by how the brain justifies the already highly unhealthy action towards the future of a person. Denial is a mask to cover their self-esteem in the fact they might have lost total control of their bad habit. Admittedly, direct reprimands may at times cause a reverse response, which may turn out to be anger. Pay attention to the more relaxed mode to enable their perception of the reality without being oppressed.

I agree with your point, many of them wants to protect their self esteem which is why they become so defensive once another person comments on their abnormal gambling behavior even when it is an innocent statement that shows true concern for their wellbeing with regards to gambling. It makes it difficult to strike up a conversation with them becomes of this because where you see concern they read it as judgement.
