What do you think — is there any strategy that actually lets you win consistently on sports betting and finish every month in profit ? 

I’ve been trying to bet on favorites with odds around 1.4–1.7, but I still end up in the negative by the end of the month. Maybe betting on favorites is a bad strategy, so I’m thinking about switching things up.

The small odds are still not a guarantee. They're just like the pulse of the bookies and the people based on the surge of the bets.

Although the chance of winning with the smaller odds is greater but, your strategy isn't that bad at all.

I am sure that many gamblers are doing the same strategy. But if you have to restrategize and you think that it's not good enough, maybe try to focus more on the upcoming games and DYOR more.

Just bet on the matches that you are very familiar of, in my opinion. Because based from the OP's experience, he already bet on favorites but still he didn't get any profit. So maybe, he bet even if he was not very familiar with the teams involved. Upsets can still happen in any sports. But I would say, if you know the teams well, I believe, you have better chance of winning on your bets.
For me, the betting strategy is to bet if you really know the sports very well, you know the athletes involved and all nine yards. Without good knowledge about the sports is like betting blindly and high likely that you will indeed lose easily. Think before betting. If you are not so sure, then hold off.

Lately, I've been running a strategy where I place the same bet on all matches in the same league. I think in this case we just need to improve our analysis because ultimately betting on the favorite club is not enough because statistics and performance also need to be looked at in this case.

For example when the matches of some big clubs such as in the EPL for Chelsea and Liverpool as a whole in most matches they are favorites but with their current performance it is risky to bet even though the odds are quite attractive when they are favorites.

Betting on strategy is neither not the way out because you may still lose after everything, loses are common in Gambling and we can't use because of the loses and start finding way to switch off.

Saw a lot of gamblers that focus on leaning on spreads and match winners and so far it's the best considering you only have few things to worry rather on focusing on parlays. Nevertheless, there's no best and one strategy doesn't necessarily mean it will work for you too, you need to find a strategy that will fit you.

Make some experiments on your journey, you'll surely get one that works for you. I just advice that don't overbet, don't chase losses, rest if you can because those are the things that may sure break your strategy fast.

Exactly, I wonder how strategy works for them when they are fully aware that they can't control sport game, In fact as far as gambling is concerned, one can't just say that they can predict how they game will end except they are just lucky to get it right because luck plays the vital part in gambling and I also strongly believe on gambling, if I place a bet and i win from it, I will said its my luck because neither analysis or strategy works when it concerned gambling.

My honest opinion is that there’s no strategy that works every time
However, what I always recommend is betting on the games you’re most familiar with, know the most about, and watch regularly
And, of course, set a bankroll so you don’t lose control

With better bets that you’ve analyzed carefully, you can improve your win rate

I don't understand what you mean by "favourites," but it's certain that you can bet on any team, provided they are worth the picking. This could have your favorite odds or even be the team you are supporting, it doesn't matter. All that matters is whether or not your analysis favours them. You don't force it.

Nobody can predict the outcome of a match; for that reason, I don't discourage anyone from betting on any option they believe can be favourable to them if it doesn't align with how I predict it might match with the person's pattern, even if it's going for a team on a winning streak. All options carry their own risk; we just have to minimise the amount we risk at once, that's all.
