Just wanna share my thoughts after reading some post from different websites, ( forums).. about sharp bettors. So my question goes is like this... Are gamblers who get limited by sportsbooks really “sharp bettors”?
what I understand is these are players who consistently make profit, and that’s why bookies don’t like them and eventually limit their accounts. But I’m not sure how true this is, sometimes I also see claims from bettors saying they got limited just because they were winning but at the same time, there are also people who try to abuse promos, multi-account, or use unfair methods, then blame the sportsbook after getting restricted.
So honestly I’m a bit confused on this. Do sportsbooks really limit players just for being profitable, or is this just something some bettors say to protect their image after getting caught doing something against the rules?
For those who have experience with this, especially in crypto sportsbooks, what actually triggers limits? Is it really consistent profit, or more on betting patterns and behavior?

I think I've read it also before, there are some users who limit their maximum bet on sports betting or certain games and I think it's true but not all for all gambling sites/sports betting sites since it would harm their platform because players or big bettors don't want them to be limited. Just take a look at some physical casinos, some players were getting kicked and banned for winning too much, it's true that gambling sites don't want it because they are losing where in fact, they should be earning since they are a business and they don't care if you were gone since you are hurting their business and it's better for them that you're gone and you can't do anything about it since they really can.

I’m aware of the sharps, and they’re usually the ones who can move the line even when the line itself is not that attractive on the favorite. So for me, that just shows how knowledgeable they are. It’s not always about having inside information, sometimes they’re just very sharp at spotting which line has value.
And I don’t think those sharps get limited that easily, at least based on what others have said. These guys are pros, they know exactly what they’re doing, and they don’t focus all their action on just one sportsbook.

Both. Although the services are generally well built enough that abusing is difficult, if someone is detected to have tried to take advantage, that would activate the limits, when it does not directly involve a ban. But having too good results in a sustained way over time, although it is a probabilistic rarity, for the mere fact that many people play is at the same time almost a certainty that someone will end up having such luck, and that could also activate such limits, regardless of whether the player was "sharp" or just lucky.

Limited only if you’re winning big amounts. But if it’s just small amounts, something the bookie can still handle long term, they usually don’t mind it. After all, sportsbooks accept bets on both sides, so it’s not really like we’re beating the house directly, we’re just betting against the losing side.
So most likely, some people are not really getting limited because of abuse, or maybe it’s not even true that they were banned. If the offense is really against the TOS, that usually results in a ban.
Sharp bettors are also not going to focus on small sportsbooks. They’ll usually bet on high-limit sportsbooks. But of course, if casinos use the same odds providers, the line will usually move the same way across them, and that’s why arbitrage betting is much harder to do nowadays.

Most of the time this is correct based on what I read on some sportsbook forum. Casino will not limit someone that is just simply winning because there’s always a lucky run on every player that later on convert to losing streak. Casino check the betting patterns and the games which most of the players win and these limited guys usually choose the same game like there’s some centralized control on what they will bet to have a profitable run.

Sharp bettors is a little too extreme. I would rather refer to them as lucky bettors because not every analysis would bring you a win. Most people are actually good at predictions, but they have their bad days as well.
Winning consistently could trigger a restriction for the betting site and that seems unfair to me. The gambling site would never want to be on the losing end so rgey could either place restrictions on withdrawal or place a limit to the amount of stakes you can play.

I've been hearing about sportsbooks limiting bettors from playing due to constant winning, but I have not seen it happen in person. I still don't believe it truly happens, or it happens only in some sportsbooks. And any sportsbook that does this is not to be trusted. It is an unreliable sportsbook. It is a sign to know that when you win big, they wont pay out. Sharp bettors is a little too extreme. I would rather refer to them as lucky bettors because not every analysis would bring you a win. Sure, it is luck that made them be on a winning streak. Once they are out of luck, the story changes from being a sharp bettor to an irresponsible gambler. Betting sites have no right to limit a gambler after winning consistently. It will be understandable if they restrict a bettor from winning a huge amount multiple times.

In any ToS there is something like "casino can restrict gambler as they want without any reason". It is written in different words but with the same meaning. I`ve been limited lots of times. Few times it was new casino, first registration, just about 5-10 win bets in a row. They never answered why they limited me. Decide yourself what is the reason. As for me - they prefer to ban when they see some cheating. Limit - is when you win too much.

Sharp bettors see opportunity when others have no clue. I think they are an exceptional type of bettors, dont brag much, but their betting history says it all. The sportsbook limits them, or the sharp bettors limit themselves from gambling too much to avoid getting addicted. I know a guy from my High school era. By now, he should be rich because back then, I knew how much he got from sports betting in a week.

Aside from bonus abuse, exploiting casino bugs, are there really some unallowed ways to bet which could give the player an upper hand to win against the sportsbook? I really don't see that perfect pattern.
I have not been limited before, but I have read people complain that way. All of the players who complain might not be saying the truth, but among many there will be a few real cases, and I have also read about a situation where the maximum stake per bet amount was reduced for a player.

Well there are different reasons a casino can limit a gambler on their platform and this can be as a result of cheating, winning too much and becoming a threat to the casino. What all those casinos want to see is to make profits from their players and when a gambler becomes a threat like winning too much on a casino, the casino can restrict the player from using their platform.

For me limiting a player when he is winning too much, is like the site saying, we will be on bigger profit if we don’t allow this player to bet anymore here. Most sites use specific sport providers that track data and everything and they make the decision, not the site itself.

Based on my experience, this kind of thing is very rare on international casino sites. If a site dares to be open to the public, they're certainly developing their project very well. This is directly related to their public trust. Therefore, I recommend being discerning when choosing a casino site. Pay attention to several important aspects. If it's not transparent or seems suspicious, it's best to avoid it and find another casino site.

Mostly the casinos limit a player they they think the player is involved in arbitrage, I don't know how is it possible for them to find but they might have their ways so getting limited doesn't mean the player is a sharp one but the platform consider them as unprofitable so limit their from betting too much money to exploit their system.

You are absolutely right in your opinion because for me I think such a gambler has become a red flag or more of a threat to the gambling business in question and that means whether one plays by the rules in many cases, such a gamblers account may still be labeled by the gambling business as a sharp bettor because they have proven over and over again, that they have an edge over the house, based on the strategy such a one uses or tricks up their sleeves.

Well you're mixing up lots of different reasons for people having problems at a casino / bookmaker. Yes, there are people who abuse such sites but they usually get outright banned and lose access to the account entirely because what they are doing is provably wrong. However a bookmaker cannot say somebody who is good at picking winners is doing anything wrong, because in theory their odds should be accurate enough that they win more than the average player. If somebody is beating their system consistently then their system needs more work because it's how they make profit. Yes, bookmakers definitely limit such players but they are also quite rare as sportsbooks usually have enough of an advantage when it comes to data analysis. They won't outright tell you you're banned, but if you can only place a max of $1 bet then it becomes obvious.

If I remember correctly, I think I have come across two thread on this forum that the OPs complained of being limited by the bookie they were using and the reason for such limit was because they staked with a huge amount a few times in a day and won all those bets and the reward was huge.
You know that there are players that can stake with $50k or more (depending on the book's Max limit), if such player has bet on 4 different tickets with huge amount and all bets won, and they did another bet for same number of tickets and still win, the bookie can just decide to reduce the limit of that lucky player. That's why some players get limited.

Yes. Casino don't like winners.
Same happens in game "Blackjack". They can determined you, are you advantage player or not. Take a looks in internet/youtube, player like these they're not gambling but playing with strategy for winning.
They control bet size they're doing, at the time the bet are in their favour. They will increase the bets, and that's why casino will often refuse or back down these kind of player and refuse them to play on their casino.

It is true casinos do not like to have lucky gamblers when comes to casino games like blackjack, dices and other games in which it is gamblers against the house, though it is quite different when we talk about betting in sports, because in those cases it is bettors against other bettors, in that case, the casino will always profit from the volume of bets, regardless of the choices of bettors on those matches. Also, I have seen some those Youtube videos you mention, it is quite remarkable how the casino is so fast to point out those advantage gamblers and ask them to take their chips and withdraw themselves from the gambling floor. There are entire Youtube gambling channels which are dedicated to get money off blackjack, though, it is a system which takes a minimum of practice and being willing to get banned from one's local casinos, because that is going to inevitably happen to one, if one becomes an advantage gambler.
