Well, it's a behavioral matter and that's why if a gambler is irresponsible. It's likely that he's got that attitude problem on how he's taking things in real life. i think you're not getting the reason why some gamblers like to gamble under the influence of alcohol or drugs, because it is not to get carried away, but to reduce inhibitions, impair judgment, and weaken impulse control, so they can easily place larger bets. This is why it is easy for gamblers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs to chase after losses or spend more time on the game than they intend to. Although the step may lead to huge wins if some gamblers are lucky to win the huge bet, it's a 2 edged sword. The best thing is always to set a spending limit and stick to it; if you are gambling online, try not to top up your account, and if you are gambling in a pub or a club, it’s best to leave with a set amount of money. Those that gamble irresponsible have developed a negative attitude towards gambling. This negative attitude maybe as a result of not understanding gambling for what it is. This is mostly what leads to irresponsible gambling.
Gambling under the influence of alcohol is a very wrong attitude that can leads to irresponsible gambling because at this point a gambler may not be able to control whatever decisions they take. They may end up gambling with what they can't afford to lose and at the end they may start chasing loses.

I have experience with that, I once went with a friend to a casino to bet a few dollars on a slot machine, my friend played in another room, in short it had been 3 hours, my friend came out drunk from alcohol.
Then I asked what was this.....!
One of the casino guards told me your friend drank a lot of alcohol while gambling and he lost all the money he spent on the bets.

From this I can conclude, what the OP said makes sense, if you want to drink and get drunk, don't try to gamble, all of that can harm us financially.

I do not do drugs at all. I gamble while I take alcohol at times, but I am not a gambling addict and I am not wasting money on gambling. There are people that do not take alcohol that are gambling and become a gambling addict. You can be taking alcohol and gamble in a responsible way. Not taking alcohol is not part of how to avoid gambling addiction.

It all depends on choice and self-control. Drinking responsibly while gambling should not be a problem. The issue is that some gamblers gamble when they are drunk. Drunkenness could lead to a behavioural disorder which would lead to loss of control. Some casinos serve alcoholic drinks to customers and some of them still gamble responsibly. The main work is doing everything moderately.

It could vary for sure. It could be a behavioral, psychological, and systemic issue. It could be from the environment and upbringing. It's also with the education that a person may have.

Gambling is really designed to keep you playing, and it is part of the systemic issues. The near-misses that a player would receive and the deposit bonuses that players could take advantage of. Gambling is designed to exploit human psychology and is different from attitude.

There should be control over yourself; otherwise, you would be irresponsible.
