The way Nigerian system is designed the Citizens are not opportune to hold our leaders accountable for their actions, the only people that will help us to hold them accountable are the inec but they equally help them to write the result for the elections. This democracy is not favoring us at all,
And apart from this crucial part which INEC plays in helping our corrupt politicians get back in office after a failed 4years tenure in office, another thing this our democracy does is not given the citizens enough power to demand a non competent politician who was elected into power and not performing well to be either removed or suspended, as this would have prompted them to want to work harder if they know they could either be removed or suspended by the power If the majority of the citizens are asking for it. Because since it's not like that, and all our politicians know that immediately they enter office, and until next 4years the people can't do them anything, that's the reason why they mishehave anyhow, and sometimes some embezzle enough money from that office, when they know they are no longer coming back next tenure. And secondly, the EFCC is also part of our problem, because if only they were doing their job amicably, while putting our politicians on checks and balances, these our politicians would have been proactive and working.

The fact that we praise them during campaigns for the promises they've not started fulfilling is pissing me off, they are good in giving promises during campaigns then after getting into the position they forget all they've promise and care only for thier enrichment waiting for another tenor for them to bribe most citizens , will i say most of us are the one fueling or supporting the politicians.  If we can stand boldly and demand for accountability without receiving bribe, thier might be a turn around.

We gave the politicians that room, in Nigeria we celebrate mediocrity in place of good performance or hard work. Also we don’t demand for accountability from our politicians, that’s why the politicians don’t bother on delivering their campaign promises, because they are aware that nobody will ask of their stewardship. So they rather chase clouts online than deliver good governance to the people. If the people had been demanding for accountability from politicians, they wouldn’t be neglecting their primary duties.

I've reasoned what you've said and you're extremely right. But the problem is that citizens are not given the room for accountability. Our representatives are not doing their jobs well. The problem is that we the citizens, we don't know how to compose ourselves and that is exactly where the problem is coming from. In my State, our recent governor was trying little when he came into power, but immediately the citizens started praising him about the little innovations that he made, and that kills his motivation. I don't see any reason for that praises, because he was just doing his job, so because of that he felt like he has done enough, and he failed to complete the rest of the works. For a leader to bring positive changes into his society he must have four things which are "ability, power, opportunity and motivation". We can appreciate a leader, but we shouldn't treat ordinary responsibilities as extraordinary achievements.

In my own perspective Nigerians citizens are one of the major problems of the country. little work that the government did, they will be hyping and lament as if they are doing us a favor. We should learn how to confront them, we need to wake up and call them into account because we are in democracy era not military era, we have all the right to voice out and voice must be heard.

Politics of bitterness should be abolished in our country, religion bias and tribalism should be taken away, that's the only to achieve Nigeria of our dream. Little innovation shouldn't be seen as an achievement, we need someone that will build infrastructure, empower youths, tackle insecurity and steady light.

For now in Nigeria politicians has control over everything and cannot be reminded of their place in the country and if we do they will do what so ever it pleases them to do because they are above the law.
Referring to the constitution know one is above the law but that of Nigeria politicians is different because the law is in there hands and  they decide how to control it. A politician in Nigeria today can do what so ever please them and nothing can be done as they control the law that is meant to protect the citizens.

What pisses me off the more is the fact they we praise them because of the little bribe sent to us. A bribe that we will pay more in the future when they have achieved what they want. Political campaign before used to be about the speech and political promises but these days it is about sharing money to people for support. The political leader who shares the most money to the people along with the strongest influence of other leaders will be the chosen one. Irrespective of who rules it is the people that decides the fate of the leader by choosing to accept the bribe.

We are the only once thinking our political representatives have forgotten there place as public servants in Nigeria because I am sure they do remember there place but because  everything in the country have been politicised is the only reason they believe nothing can ever go wrong with them even if they exceed there constitutional rights.
Assuming we they are representing have not sold our constitutional rights because of peanuts, do you think this politicians would have operated the way they are doing.

This is very true and that's why you see politicians acting as if they don't care about the citizens, tell me in a situation where your votes has been bought with a little amount as five thousand naira (#5,000) would you come and ask the officials for a proper representation?, the answer is capital NO as it's assumed you have already eaten the dividends of democracy from the votes they has already bought so most times it's our fault, because if we don't allow them to give us peanuts we can be able to come out and ask for accountability when they are not performing their civic responsibility to the people.

On the second hand, some of the politicians that are rulling us don't even know what leadership is all about and the duties they were supposed to perform, they are just there because their godfathers has handpicked them and forced them on the people, we should stand up for our rights and stop collecting peanuts during elections so we can demand for quality representation from this evil politicians.

It absolutely so annoying seeing them changing that format, but I want to remind you about one thing that all those things planned, anything you see our politicians doing to us right now has been discussed and that is why they are still having so much hope in getting what they want. They make sure they starved us so that we can be able to be controlled, the study us very well to know our problem, that is all about money, that is why at the early stage they take away money from US, so that anytime they bring it we will accept them without any questioning since we need the money badly.

All this are facts about our politicians today, but my area of concern is that nothing happened if the citizens are nothing backing them you, we as citizens we have the mindset of seeing them as God, where many worship them because Change they get from they that has always been their motivation to go any length in seeking for popularity forgotten the service that would have earm them that popularity. No accountability where accountability is considered as what gives popularity as well governance per service rendered our leaders wouldn't have the time to seek such measure of popularity, failed government affect everyone aspect that's while those that larment about the failure of the government sees this act of the leaders as more of deceit which actually it's than the required work to be done by their position.

Many of our leaders behave as if they are monarchs rather than the slaves we elected them to be. Once in government, they forget that we, the citizens, fund their salaries through taxes. Then go construct mansions with expensive automobiles and travel overseas every month while the same people who voted for them are suffering from hunger, terrible roads, lack of light, and insecurity.

Politicians are there to serve, not to lord it over us. We must remind them through our votes and civic engagement.Nigeria is in a shambles, and the way things are going, only a revolution would change things since politicians no longer care about the population. You will find counsellors driving all manner of clean automobiles with ill-gotten money that is supposed to be for the people.

All of this are happening because no politicians has gone to prison after their time in office expires, because they knows that even though they does the worst things in office, nothing will happen, and they would not face the full wrath of the law, that's why most citizens of Nigeria has now accepted the fact that Nigerian is not a working country.

These politicians created insecurity in the country for their personal interest, now it has overwhelm them to the extent where they cannot control it again, now it's the general public that are suffering from it, that's why I believe that the sudden disappearance of bandits is as a result of them having a deal with them to stay silent until after the election, because if they keep on operating freely, they would be voted out of power.

So it's high time Nigerians vote out this wicked politicians and vote in those that has human conscience that are willing to serve, not all this blood suckers that disguised as a politicians.

Politicians are supposed to be popular, they meant to be known by the entire population because they represent the people in government positions or parliament. I don't understand what you mean by politicians drag Media space with celebrities, because politicians are celebrated and they are well known celebrities in most society. Maybe I need to understand your concept of who is a celebrity and how a politician is not falling under such category, because your confusing me right now. Please give a brief explanation of your own concept of celebrity.

If op had understood the role of the political elected person he would have known that seeing them on the social media isn't a competition with anybody but is actually there job they are doing, immediately someone took office media press would be on them on different interviews regarding the office and some information they would also like to no concerning the development of the state so actually you are right and non of those things matters in anyway. The way Nigerians even make judgement is that if any politicians doesn't come sometimes in social media means they don't have the ability to be there.
Most of the politicians we are seeing today aren’t the once who handle their social media accounts, so whatever that is being done there I think it’s for the social media information, we all know that politicians are very popular most especially the Governors and the President, when it comes to the house of Reps members like the senator you can’t know them all, not all of them are popular, so most of the politicians uses their platform on social media to promote themselves for their campaigns and elections, and this politician go on social media, for news conferences, this days you see less people watching Television to listen to news, so it’s part of their jobs they’re doing, and some of them are using social media to pass informations.

Its the right time we all have to say know to vote buying and election rigging because its our constitutional right for our votes to countted know matter the situation or what they want.
We citizens are the reasons why all this are happening  if only we will say no to selling of votes and stick to the right voting system all this nonsense will stop and if it stops the chances for good governance will be possible in this great country.
