I was a victim of this circumstance in the past when I was looking for a way to recover some coins I had in one of this exchanges. It was in the telegram platforms, and I actually received some calls claiming to give me help, but at some point I discovered they were trying to defraud me instead of rendering the help I asked for. This is to concord to your findings, most people expose themselves to fraud because they lack some kind of security consciousness. The Internet is not wholly made of good people, there are individuals who have made themselves available to scam others. While looking for help, be very careful, and also know that you don't ask for help everywhere. Bitcointalk is one of the best community you can seek for Bitcoin related challenges, and even at that you need to deep some of your portfolio information secret.

A lot of people will be victims, and another thing is that a lot of scams are taking place on Telegram. They will always want to refer you to Telegram, and if you need help with whatever it is, it is better to look for a more secure source where you will get genuine information. Also, you will see some people acting like a support system just to lure people, and people are falling for it. This is why we all need to be careful, and the internet has its own good side and its bad side, and that is why whatever we are doing in that space, every step should be monitored carefully, and people have lost their coin to things like this.

That could be right but I must admit that even I fell once for a different kind of scam (pig butchering scam), luckily I realised it on time but I have lost some funds until I realised I was being scammed.
Normally, nobody is immune to scams regardless of how knowledgeable or careful they are. I have fallen victim to scams myself, so I understand how easily it can happen. We just need to be careful out there, because scammers are constantly coming up with new ways to deceive people.

You gave me nice idea for conducting a little experiment. To create new account just to see if there will be scam attempts if I ask some question about wallet reconstruction. Just to see if scammers tactics are evolving and what scam templates are they using.
My friend that sounds like a crazy idea honestly.  Grin  lf you create a newbie account to invite potential scammers into your PM,  you might end up learning a lesson you never intended to learn.  Grin Ensure to reply to this thread after you're done with your experiment. Goodluck.

The first wallet draining attack I got in the cryptocurrency space is through asking for help on a telegram group.
.this guys will message you privately telling you that their are representatives of the project and willing to help you.
Telegram is just full of scammer, and I hardly reply messages I receive on telegram, because I do tag anyone that message me there as a scammer. I don’t believe anyone that message me on telegram which claim to be representative of a project, most of them are scammer, and they are looking for possible ways for you to fall for their tricks. Most of them will claim to be projects representative, and they will request for your seed phrase so that they will be able to help you. If anyone request for your seed phrase, then you should know that the person isn’t a project representative, but a scammer, only scammers will request for seed phrase.

Your approach of treating unsolicited messages on telegram as scam attempts is very appropriate for your security, and besides the privacy feature on telegram where a person phone number can be kept private this make it hard to track them on telegram and the reason most of the scammers are found of using telegram to message people in attempt to get them scammed.

Yes not just telegram alone, scammers are every where it depends on how they come in contact with a person what is discussed, which leads to discussing there agenda in a subtle way. It good to be smart and talk less to avoid discussing vital matters with a random strangers who's intensions to defraud. Asking for help is not bad or wrong it depends on what help the person needs and shouldn't be public when it concerns private and confidential matters.

It is idea to make exercise a great deal of caution by being suspicious or curious on how and why you are being contacted by persons you have no idea who they might be. It’s the first step towards a better security while surfing the web. Genuine people or opportunities that might financially uplift you don’t come begging, you find it.

One of the reason why most scammers do use telegram is because, it’s used widely by a lot of persons and telegram is specially concerned with privacy. They don’t cooperate with authorities and with that being one of their signature move, a lot of persons use them.
