Profitability is not determined by whether you bet big or small. You will profit when you get more wins than losses. And big bets will not affect your chances of winning in gambling.

Those who are smarter are those who successfully manage their bets. They do not force themselves to bet bigger. Gamblers know the amount they can bet, and you become a smart gambler when you do not lose more than that amount.
This is what most people thought in gambling, that give them the idea to stake big, even when gambling is not by that but still went ahead to bet big, hoping to also get big returns and this often makes them to lose their real sense of gambling and focused on it as an alternative for income. And the money they stay in gambling with that perspective, the more chances they got to destroy their lives and exposed themselves with others.

if you have a strategy or you already be able to know a better strategy in gambling that works for you even when you bet small I'll consider it than betting big and hope you win, in the next round, those who bets bigger in the next turn will have high chance of losing than winning because they don't know how to handle the situation clearly, while the bettor who bet small but keep winning when count in the end is better, and safe because he is able to control the urge and not to able to lose control of the situation.

I was arguing on this topic earlier today with some friends and we discussing about a gambler who has been gambler for a while and a few win and also one big win over a long period of time but plays with less funds like uses small money to win big and  and one who plays with serious funds and always wins big ones in a while, the question here is who is smarter.
Some persons were of the opinion that the high staker is smarter for always staking high and that his returns when he wins will always be high and cover up if he doesn't win next time.
While others say the the low staker is smarter and would not probably feel the pain of losing if he eventually does and would make more profit if he eventually wins.
So the question is who do you think is smarter and which is a more favorable way to bet.
Neither of them is smarter than the other because their choices does comes with their own advantages and disadvantages. For the guy with high stakes, he enjoys huge sum of wins, he doesn't have to make too many picks to get a reasonable odd that will get him a good sum and so with few picks he's already going to make some money and his winning frequencies is more than the other person's.

The guy with very little staking power gets to enjoy some level of peace because he doesn't get to be attached emotionally with the amount he places on each bet, he also gets to have fun and stay entertained by gambling which avails him the opportunity to enjoy the entertainment that comes with gambling but his bets are highly luck dependent bets, he is never sure he is going to win because the multiples reduce his chances of winning and he needs the multiples to be able to accumulate a reasonable number of odds for higher wins.

Looking at both we see they have their advantages and disadvantages  so whichever one gets to choose is because they have considered it to be what they are capable of handling and not about been smarter, because you could be smart by using huge amounts to chase smaller odds and still loose the game and get ruined, then you may suffer emotional stress and may become potential for addiction, so choose that which you can cope best with and that will be the best for you and not trying to be smarter.

No one, Why? Both would be still losing in the end, the only difference is that the amount that they would be losing. If you are a gambler who do have that bigger bankroll then it would be understandable that winnings could be also big and to those who are just that small stakers then its understandable that they do have that limited amount of money and aiming for some hit out of those tons of rolls they had made. Whose that smarter? I would consider for someone to be smart is on the one that wouldnt be able to go excess into their limits or would completely stop and make use of those winnings on the right way rather than on losing it back again into the casino on which this is the thing i would consider this smart rather than into those gamblers who do excessively used up their funds and to those who able to make use of those winnings.

If they're both gambling with the amount of money that they can afford to lose, they're doing the right thing and I call that smartness. However, any gambler that gambles beyond the amount of money that he cannot afford to lose because he wants to win big is dumb because profit isn't guaranteed when gambling.
Nothing more than this, gamble with what can be afforded, some gamblers are capable of sparing huge amounts but they still maintain a low bankroll, it is a choice, the only difference is that huge stakers might gamble with low risk, it still doesn’t omit the chances of losing the stake, once they lose, the losses are very huge.

Key idea is to maintain an affordable bankroll, treat gambling the way it should, not a money printing scheme.

Both are smart on their own, the question begs how do they win more often? I think when it comes to that the only answer should be on the winnings earned and nothing more unless there's some sort of competition that you need a better statistics over the other. Every bettors have different betting styles so I think I wouldn't press the matter unless there's some specific thing in mind like I said, it should be on the earnings or the statistics.

Just as you can win a large sum of money by betting big, you can also lose a lot of money if you lose. That is why it is never possible to measure who is really smart in this way. A smart person is someone who uses various strategies in gambling and wins most of the time. Even if it is a small amount of money, he is still smart. It is better to win a small amount than to lose a large amount or make a big profit by betting a large amount. However, gambling can never be won based on quantity, but rather requires discipline.

The one with wisdom there is the person who has small amount but actually use it and win big money even if it was once in a while because that's a way to no that you are gaining from gambling while gambling is losing from you because even the money you will be losing would be very small but when the big win comes is incomparable to the years of lost so actually I wish gambling would always works as your statement. The big money spending may not be good profit from there wining because when a gambler had spent an annual total of 40k dollars but won 30k dollars at a time, they would be happy of the money but there annual total is already giving them a losing accounts.

A person who is smart or clever in gambling is one who always gambles carefully and in a disciplined manner and gambles with the money he can afford to lose and who keeps himself calm and makes the right decisions no matter what the outcome of the gamble is. I think it is better to use a small amount of money for gambling, so that one can control one's emotions and protect oneself from the excessive risk of losing money and adopt the right rules and maintain self-control over oneself and protect oneself from gambling addiction. The possibility of losing is higher than winning through gambling, so by betting with more money, the amount of loss increases relatively, as a result, it will become difficult to control oneself, as a result, the amount of money lost increases, and the terrible destruction of gambling will start affecting one's life.

Considering that I belong to the latter group, I think it's the one that, in the long run, will most likely result in a favorable outcome for the bettor.
FWIW, I think the smartest choice is to know when you should combine each of these approaches for your bets.

The one who stakes high on low odds, to me, is the smarter bettor. People dont realize how much they have lost staking a peanut on huge odds over a long period of time. TBH, they are the ones who have lost the most in gambling. The risk is hugely high. Which means in 100 chances, they may get 1 win or none, 99 are losses. While the bettor who takes a good amount to stake on low odds has a higher chance of winning in the long term.

If the other gambler who stakes a small amount of money to play for a long time goes with the money he or she can afford, while the gambler who stakes a large amount of money can do so without the money affecting his or her other financial expenses. In my opinion, both of them are smart gamblers; however, if the opposite is true, then neither of them is intelligent gamblers.

I guess everyone will have varying opinions on this matter. Or maybe it because I'm one of those bettor who will only risk small amounts on my bets. It's just how I keep my risk management intact. I prefer risking small and having many opportunities to win then all back than risking big on one game and run out of capital to continue playing. It's all about your kind of mindset though. I know that some would say that for the high risk gambler, one win will cover all his losses, which is true to some extent as one large win can recover all the loses you've have for a very long time. But he will exhaust his deposit way faster than the other one that's doing his best to minimise his risk and losses.

You got a point here, smart gambling is not about how much one bet but how one approaches it, whereby it won't affect their lives in anyway, even their financial aspects because some gamblers do approach gambling with the intention to make it big, although their wish can be granted by luck. But, it shouldn't give the idea that its always like that because the moment they undermined the power of luck in gambling, that is when they have the taste of gambling in an unpleasant way.

Yeah, the entire theory of which is better, and all the strategies rely on one core assumption that you can make money with gambling. But that's absolutely not true and quite the opposite of it. It's foolish to think you can beat maths just by pure luck or strategies because the house edge will always exist regardless of what calculations you made and betting big or small only changes the amount risked, not the outcome.

i will say, though, mathematically it's better to make fewer bets but bigger amounts because playing the same amount over and over again makes the house edge stack up. The more you 'wager' the more you pay to the house edge. This is why all the casinos want you to wager more and more!

[Edited out]
if you have a strategy or you already be able to know a better strategy in gambling that works for you even when you bet small I'll consider it than betting big and hope you win, in the next round, those who bets bigger in the next turn will have high chance of losing than winning because they don't know how to handle the situation clearly, while the bettor who bet small but keep winning when count in the end is better, and safe because he is able to control the urge and not to able to lose control of the situation.

This is true, I have always considered betting small as the best strategy because it minimize/ reduce the amount of money we loss. And not only that, it also helps in managing our bankroll, Take for instance you're a  low staker, let's say your staking amount is $1 with a bankroll of $100. before your bankroll will get exhausted lucky might get to you someday and then you increase your bankroll, then a guy who is betting with $50 with a bankroll of $100 there's every possibility of losing the whole of his bankroll without wining because with his stake it means that he will just go two times and who knows if luck will get to him during this two attempt that is the reason why I like betting small because it's gives opportunity to keep trying.

The main thing we need to understand is that gambling isn't a way to earn money; it's not a job. In my opinion, the smarter person is the one who can manage risk well, meaning they don't exceed their limits. I understand that gambling with large amounts carries the potential for big wins, but isn't the risk also high? Of course, winning in gambling doesn't depend on how much you bet, and if there were a guaranteed way to win, everyone would be rich quickly.

It seems to me that a gambler who places small bets will have the same chances of winning as one who places large bets. Ultimately, the same mathematical rules apply to both of them. The only difference is that someone who places large bets will be mathematically less susceptible to the spread of results, and therefore, the influence of luck on their winnings will be greater. This means that such a person may play many times in a row or win many times in a row, but over time, their statistics will converge in the number of outcomes, along with those of those who place small bets.

It all depends, because a person who always bets big will have a long history of failures. I don't know if what they win with what they've bet will even cover what they've spent. For that reason, we should carry more or less the amount of money we're willing to lose. But whoever bets big must know that they have a very strong financial position to take that kind of risk. I would say that I respect and admire those who do it, even though I didn't have a lot of money, I don't think I would be able to bet that much.

[ This means that such a person may play many times in a row or win many times in a row, but over time, their statistics will converge in the number of outcomes, along with those of those who place small bets.

I think it all depends on the bettor's personality and ability to understand risk. A bettor who is confident in a match will bet big. When they're unsure, they should bet small amounts, and then they'll succeed. This is proper money management and the ability to draw logical conclusions. And they don't need to bet large amounts on absolutely every match, every time. They have varying degrees of confidence and uncertainty about the matches they bet on, and therefore the amount they bet is also a lever of influence given to the bettor, designed to help them build a successful income from this hobby.
