Sean was a good bet of course, from what I have always known it’s a psychological fight, he had to break khamzat from the mind first before breaking him in the ring and that is exactly what he did, remind khamzat that they both learnt how to fight together knew each other and khamzat has always been in one position might have led khamzat to try to learn new was to face Sean hence Sean got a good chance at him but he was still a good fighter maintaining his standards.

Since you already made this post as a reference to a past event that many of us saw or never did see, I didn't really see it, but was aware of the results and saw most half cut videos we mostly find on social media. It was definitely a grudge match and your hunch was right.
It was a big upset though in UFC history because Sean Strickland who was more of the underdog reclaimed the middle weight title.
Am more focused on sportsbetting, horse racing, NBA most times and not much into the UFC, unless boxing comes up.

I watched the fight and I thought Strickland had some dominant moments. The fact that Khamzat was failing to take him down and laying on his back waiting to get pummeled was something I wasn’t expecting to see. It was a close fight for sure, but I think Sean had a few good moments that pushed him over the top for the win.

If you have seen the weigh-in, then probably you will bet on Sean Strickland as well. It's because Khamzat has problems making the weight. And even if reports says he did, he really look like a zombie cutting those early weight.

And we have seen boxers or UFC fighters that have difficulty in making the weight, losing their fight. It's because losing that extra pounds is really hard for the body and their mind. Even if they have rehydrated, their bodies are not going to respond so quick with that added lbs or water in your body.

No, it was Khamzat who take the fight psychologically, Strickland just responded to it. Did you see the final press conference wherein Khamzat kick Strictland in the nuts? That is pysche war already and he thought that he had the advantage.

But I do agree that this fight is close and that it can go either way, it was not a unanimous decision result. Although for fans of Khamzat, it looks like something is off of him during this fight and not the usual very aggressive fighter.

So good for those who beat on Strickland here to win the fight as he was a underdog.
