I would almost like to see websites copyright logos and be able to have a way to take legal action against scammers or something. Doesn't help the regular user but maybe the scammers don't try scamming with certain sites and users feel protected better.

I will never be a victim of this because I’m not really a fan of using apps when gambling. I prefer using the website, especially when I place my bets, since I usually do it on my laptop. Few days back, I had experienced a glitch on my Stake account it kept responding with an error message, so I tried to download the app through Google App store to see what happens next, guess what I saw? I fake Stake Casino App, that lures people into depositing money and restricting them from withdrawing their funds.

Aside from what you stated, this fake casino app can also be used for session hijacking/cookie theft to log in to the casino user's account through the help of hidden malware like a trojan or info-stealer, which will allow the attacker to log in to the victim using their active cookies session which will allow the attacker to bypass the password and 2FA

I guess you had to hit the report button before everything, and maybe ask support agents why they let it stay there for so long... they could provide some good answers, after all, they work for that company.

Scammers are scammers... they always search for new ways to trick people, so I am not surprised by this. As you wrote, those who wish to be safe will download the app directly from the site. In general, those who wish to be safe will pay attention to the little things...

I've always maintained that if you're not very well informed online you will easily be scammed, what you don't know is bigger than you and that is why somebody who is not informed can fall for very easy scams. It was easy for OP to identify that the app he saw wasn't the original because he knows what the original looks like, if it were someone that is new to stake they will think that they're downloading the original app. Let us try to be more informed about any app before we download them.

Well thank God that you noticed on time and didn't deposit any money on the app and deleted on time. But the truth is that not everyone is like you who was able to detect that the app was a fake one and that it's not the stake app that you were used to. Right, that's why it's no good to look at this reviews as it's also fake. For me I don't download anything in Playstore. Just reminded me of my father-in-law, he said that he download about an apps on blood sugar monitoring.

But after using it, his phone suddenly acts weird and so I decided to format and reset everything for him. So that is one dangers if you don't know about anything, you just download a apps that looks like harmless but it comes with malware. What more if it is a famous gambling app?

People who get themselves trapped with fake apps fail to do their proper research before downloading apps from the Play Store. One thing I do before downloading apps from the Play Store is to check the reviews about that app, because that would give me clues whether to continue with the download or stop.

For the fact that most people do not have an idea about these things, they quickly download, believing what they are downloading is the original, and in the end, they start having issues forgetting that they should have asked questions or check reviews about what people are saying about the app they want to download because since they are new and have no much idea about it, what is expected of them is to do research and ask questions so they do not make mistake.

There are lots of fake websites on the interest and you can be easily tricked if you are not careful and always checking for the name of the casino before doing anything like sign up. And that's a good one, as most people will still get played by the scammers because of their eagerness to gamble, instead of making or trying to understand and verify the website well before making any decision, they will start putting their details and when they will realized themselves, the damage has already be cause and this will either destroy their lives and makes them feel sad and guilty about their actions.
