There are lots of fake websites on the interest and you can be easily tricked if you are not careful and always checking for the name of the casino before doing anything like sign up. The angle I want to come at this at is a critique of app stores. They used to be a place where one trust that the apps there have been vetted and are safe. However, right now with the many stories that I have read on similar experiences, it seems they just approve any app that requests to be uploaded to their store. They really need to start doing their jobs by weeding out these scam apps, they must take responsibility for it.
This brings back the lesson that only download apps from the official websites.

Firstly I think it's high time everyone understands that there safety in getting the right products and services they are looking out for online is first in their hands before even the app store as it is in this case. I see people downloading just any app they search on app store without checking the reviews and date of app upload to ascertain how genuine what they're downloading for use is before going on with it. The app store has their own responsibility to weed off bad apps from their store but the truth is that they can't completely do that because scammers has actually found ways to make and brand these fake apps in a way that the apps stores can't assume them to be fake or scam intended.

My question is why would players deposit to an App with such a color, without detecting from the onset that it's not Stake at all. Even the file size was around 6mb which got me wondering, this can't be stake.

This type of thing is very common in the internet, there are different type of application, and website looking alike, and all these are just to fraud people. It is necessary to understand any application you are using should in case you want to download the application again. People download fake application unknowingly to them. There are many fake gambling platforms that once you deposit your money there, withdrawing your money becomes very difficult, and gamblers should be cautious about it.

When it comes to downloading applications, if you already have existing application, it is better you update the application instead of deleting it, this method will save you from falling victim to some of this fake applications.

I think the most people who down an app like this never even access the site, so they do not even know what the original site/app "visual profile" is, which is why they do not suspect of anything.

Think with me: how many people have fallen for phishing scams even though they've known the original site for a long time? So... imagine someone who never had contact with the original website... they will hardly realize there is an problem unless it is very obvious.

What I think is easier to understand in all this is that people do not start to make large deposits right away, right? I think they first make smaller deposits until they gain confidence, so they have time to realize they've fallen for a scam.

But, unfortunately, regardless of the amount of money people wager, those who run these scams usually manage to profit quite a bit.

And if a platform has apps, then there will be an option to download them directly from their official websites. But there are no apps on the Play Store, since play store doesn't allows that.

So I can say that you will see all the gambling apps on the Play Store, Almost all the apps are fake. And currently situation I think websites more comfortable for gambling. Because I can access them very easily from both my phone and PC, and everything smooths as apps.

The Play Store of Google is one of the worst places if one is seeking to give a chance to applications with little reputation, there are simply too many scammers on there trying to get away with one's money.

The worst thing about this situation is how Google basically accepts anything on their store with little to no over-sight or control, and thousands of people end up losing their money because of how gullible they are and not being able to double check if the app their are getting is legitimate or not...

Anyways... We can just hope they have not going to keep this scam up for some much time.

Yes, that Stake logo makes people believe it's the official Stake app, even though it's not. Moreover, most people easily believe that apps in the Play Store are verified and safe to use, so they don't bother to check further and simply install them on their devices. But I also question how Google can ignore this and allow unofficial apps to use the Stake logo, which is protected by copyright and trademarks. That means there’s a loophole that the developer exploited to bypass Google’s verification process.

Google play must have allowed the fake stake app to stay there listed on their platform because there arent alot of people rating the app bad and also reporting the app at the same time, because i personally know that if there are alot of people who have actually giving the app rating 1 star and writing bad comment and also reporting the app, the app will definitely be deleted from playstore so that not a lot person's can end up falling a victim to scam.

Personally though, I think you yourself made a mistake of going straight to the playstore to download a casino app, where as the best way to link the casino app is to through the casino site.
Any casino that has built an app will or must surely put a link to download the app on their website, it is better and safer to go through this  process and be safe than try to cut corners.

Not only the logo branding because I believe that google would allow it even if it's an unknown name or brand of a casino. Google won't react and do anything if there's no complain to these apps and that's why the ratings are there and people are free to leave good/bad review and the experience they got. But the best way to deal with it is to report them, it's easy to do that but I think it will take a bunch of reports before they take it down. It happens and it sucks that they're too slow in taking down those fake apps. Nothing new with how responsive google is with these cases.

It is because I have come to the conclusion Googles does not actually check or review the stuff they decide to advertise on their adds across the internet, they put some artificial intelligence in change, so they can save money on reviewers and actual human beings who could easily spot a scam.

Actually, this week I was doing some english lessons on duolingo, imagine my surprise when Duolingo shows to me an advertisement of an obvious ponzi scheme which was available on the Play Store and pretty much promised to print money out of nowhere with a single deposit of hundreds of dollars. In that case the advertising campaign was being pushed forwards by Meta, not google, still it is so disturbing these billion dollar corporations do not seem to care about their integrity and the funds of possible victims on the internet.

There have been many similar cases before. It's not only about duplicated crypto casinos, but crypto wallets as well. One thing for sure, it's related to crypto because it's the easiest way to get the money. You do a transaction, send your coins to the scam fake app, and it's gone. You can't revert the transaction.

The thing is, it's the App Store, which most of us believe is a safer app marketplace compared to the Google Play Store. They are more strict in approving developers and apps. The Google Play Store is way bigger than the App Store.

The review process involves automated tools and human reviewers [1]. Just imagine, hundreds of thousands of app submissions in a week. An app needs to be checked with multiple scenarios based on use cases and user behaviour. The estimated time to review an app is only a few minutes [2]. And this is just for the App Store. The Google Play Store, with its less strict process, could be even fewer. The only thing users can do is strengthen the community by reporting malicious apps.

You are right, I used to see the option too most at times when I log into stake using my mobile phone, I have tried it once but I observed that it's just an icon that will lead you directly to the website and not actually a real app, that's why I still prefer to just go all over to the website by myself each time I want to play on the casino. Having been experienced in using the casino, I don't think I can be easily fooled by a fake website mimicking stake casino.

And that's a good one, as most people will still get played by the scammers because of their eagerness to gamble, instead of making or trying to understand and verify the website well before making any decision, they will start putting their details and when they will realized themselves, the damage has already be cause and this will either destroy their lives and makes them feel sad and guilty about their actions. But, if they act fast by reducing or giving gambling a break, they will get to amend their ways and be safe.

Those who can get trapped in situations like that are beginners who have never accessed Stake before. Most times it’s greed that makes some folks to let their guard down, they’ll be willing to give up their personal details or even put in some amount of money in some things simply because of the promises of high returns, and that’s why it’s crucial for folks to learn how to completely eradicate greed as this gives us more clarity to think better and see things the way they are without allowing our emotions make decisions for us.

Not everyone really knows what the real Stake looks like. Most people only know Stake as the biggest crypto casino, so they just search Stake app on the Google Play Store. That’s where people easily get fooled from the first impression. Even you, who already knew about the real Stake, still downloaded the app. Good thing you already knew which Stake was the legit one.

That’s why sometimes I don’t really like gambling through apps.
