Ending your life after a big loss isn't the best solution

This type of news really saddens me. It clearly shows the negative side of gambling. People need to take gambling seriously and understand how it works. Gambling is not about guaranteed money, rather, it involves taking risks to earn money. And where there is risk, there is no guarantee of success, so we need to be mentally prepared for losses as well. That’s why it is always advised to gamble only the amount you can afford to lose. Exactly, running away would've even been far more better than taking his own life, that's just a very stupid way to thing of salvaging such situation, cos the truth is that ypu are not really solving the problem but just dumping the problem for your family, Now they'll have to pay that back that debt with pain and misery. I see no sense in all of this rediculus act so to speak, suicide shouldn't even be an option in the first place because you may be thinking that by taking your own life everything is automatically gone and by it you have been free, then whatever about your families and other love once you have left in pain and sorrow. I wonder what made him sell two vehicles to play gambling. Gambling will not gives winning easily so you don't have to sell your personal thing and using the money to gambling, that is not makes sense.

A ZESCO employee has taken his life after reportedly losing money from the sale of two vehicles on Aviator, an online casino game populary known as Kandeke.

The victim, identified as Mulenga Kashiba, a junior engineer, is reported to have shot himself using a hunting rifle, Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi has confirmed.

“Preliminary investigations have reviewed that the deceased previously sold his two Honda fit cars at a value not known and used all the proceeds to bet on aviator casino game and lost the bet and from that time he has been having a lot of misunderstandings with his wife,” Mr Yuyi said.

Mr Yuyi explained the victim was discovered by his brother following a call from their mother.

“He [the brother] rushed home and on arrival by the gate he heard a gunshot sound coming from inside the house.

“He rushed inside the house and discovered that the bedroom door was locked and he managed force it open and upon entering the room he found the deceased in the pool of blood.

First of all, are we certain the suicide is as a result of his loss, did he leave a note or any indication pointing to d cause of his suicide? Secondly, why didn't dey mention how much he lost? Maybe then we might have come to a firm conclusion dat as a result of d significant loss, he couldn't take it anymore and den took his life.

I honestly don't think dis guy is a newbie gambler, this is not his first loss, and if d loss were significant, dis is not his first significant loss either. Or is he a newbie gambler, and is dis his first loss or first significant loss?

I believe d cause of his suicide runs deeper dan saying, he did it because of his loss in gambling. Well anyways, I sympathize with his family.

This is why addiction is being called as a silent killer. This is the hardest thing to sort out when someone who being addicted is keeping the addiction by himself. He doesn't let others know his addiction, and it's obvious none can hplp him. It's a lesson for someone has to ask his close people when there were signs addiction.

Absolutely a bad decision. Sometimes I used to wonder if they are not aware that there's still more hope for the leaving. No matter what condition you find yourself in, never think of ending your life because of gambling. You are not the first or second person that has been in such situation.

Gamblers should always try as much as possible to gamble responsibly because of the risk involved. Going to the extent of selling your properties is not the best way at all, because at end of the day you might end up losing your life if you don't control yourself.

Firstly I think some individuals needs to check there mental health, because I absolutely don’t see any reason why someone would end there life all because of they lost a bet, I don’t feel comfortable when someone who can’t create life takes their own life or someone else, in this case gambling is you win some and you loose some, but this individual have failed to understand what gambling is all about, and for someone to take their own life then it means that person is sick in the head, anyone who have been gambling for a long time will understand that whatever that happens in your other gambling doesn’t determine what will happen in your next gamble, it’s all messed up, mental health is very important.

If only we can talk to that person. But I guess everyone is really out of control in terms of gambling and once they've lost big money, the only solution for them is to take their own life to end all the problems and miseries. But it's more than that, depends on what religion you belief, but most religious belief doesn't condone ending our life, and that even in after life, they can still suffer.

Depression and despair indeed corrupt the mind of a person into doing things that are unthinkable.  I bet the person is in deep depression because of the losses he can't afford to lose, plus the possible pressure from his wife.

Ending life due to mistakes is not the right thing to do.  The person, due to his muddled brain, because of depression and despair, failed to think that his job could recover his losses.  I think the disagreement with his wife is the biggest factor in why this guy committed suicide.  

People make great mistake whenever they commit suicide, surely they can be regretting their actions in the other world and might want to given a second chance if that where possible, such tragedy leaves friends and families in big pains, nothing really worth taking our life for because money lost can be made again it is a thing of time, depression is real but how we react towards it is very important, I will never take my life for any reason no matter the level of the pressure so I will not blame the wife that much, he would have had other ways around it than taken his life.

Taking your own life is never a good reason, for any reason.
He made mistakes twice, the first time playing irresponsibly, the second time he didn't take responsibility and by taking his own life the debt still remains, someone will have to pay it if the victim is in debt.

It has always been a reoccurring experience. We hear news almost everytime of people taking there lives due to huge loss of there assets or due to there gambling experience. Isn't it foolishness to gamble with all your money because you believe you will win? I remember a long time ago when I lost a significant amount of money. I was devastated and didn't want to do anything, but at one point I realized I needed to move on and stop convincing myself I could get rich through gambling, since I'd never managed to come up with a truly profitable strategy. I decided to get a job and work; there's nothing wrong with that, only good, because it allows me to live and plan for the future. And after a long break, I began to view gambling simply as a pastime in which I'd spend no more than 3-5% of my monthly income, and that's enough for me after many years; it's my balance.
