In some cases, you could see someone who wins a huge amount in gambling but squanders the money on irrelevant things rather than investment. Gambling is continuous and there is no way anyone of us that called ourselves gamblers could know if their fellow friends or someone that have been gambling for long would make it as a gambler. It's rare to see someone who came from the trenches become successful in gambling, although I have witnessed people that have win a huge amounts from gambling which worth to change their lives from good to better if they invested it to a profitable business but they ended up spending in gambling again. People are actually winning big from gambling but you know how gambling works or the greediness of gamblers, they always desire to win more and if a gamblers will continue with this mindset, it will be very difficult to see a successful gambler because the chances of making it in life through gambling is just 1% as @sammye3 said.

I`ve got average profit from gambling that was about 20-30% less than my salary for about 18 months in a row. But i don`t think that it is success, for me it was just hard additional job.

My story about profit in gambling but loss in the life.
One my mate was(is) really good in predictions and he got monthly profit about 3-5 medium salary in my country. He played for 4-5 years, sometimes he had losing weeks, once even loss month, but for a long distance he got good money from betting. The problem is that he got too much and stopped control expenses. As the result he spend all his money and he had to get a loan few times. The last i heard about him, that he has no money to rent a house and he has to live with parents.

No, there is no one around me who has become successful in gambling. But I know of several people who have lost a lot of money in gambling. One of them once won a jackpot while gambling and decided to build his own house and according to that the foundation stone of the house was laid but after 30% of the work of the house was completed we again came to know that he had lost his jackpot in gambling and also took loans from the people around him and lost them in gambling. And now he is absconding.

Personally I only know people that won huge amounts of money from gambling but they didn't really make it through exactly because most of them i saw went back to being broke. The reason why I don't think gambling can make anyone financially is that no matter how much you make from the game if there's no constant income flow you are definitely going to be back to where you used to be financially. Only a few people are able to use that amount they won as an investment, most gamblers think that they would always be able to win so they spend carelessly.

Nobody I know personally, but I've interacted with someone who claimed to make a fair bit of money through betting on horses and they seemed to put forward a legitimate strategy that I could see working they were able to automate it far enough. Besides that, the only people I've ever seen being successful at gambling are the mega pros playing poker in the biggest tournaments that are often televised. However there tend to only be a few dozen people that are able to consistently compete at that highest level, who have almost become mini celebrities in their own right, and it's almost magical watching them playing the odds consistently in order to make money in the long run even if they crash out many times short term.

As a gambler, aside from those who buy and won from the national lottery, I don't know anyone who makes a living from purely gambling. I know many gamblers, but their job or business is the one making them have a better life.  

But if we are talking about the gambling industry in general, there are lots of people who get a better life from the gambling industry as agents, operators, and those who use an affiliate system.

You cannot completely depend on gambling to manage your life because you are not confirm about its results and it is never possible to win consistently. The possibility of losing money is more than gaining money. However, how the gambler uses it after winning money is the main thing, if the gambler invests the money he has won through gambling in the right place, then his life can gradually change. After winning money, the gambler will lose money by gambling in the hope of getting more money. It is true that the number of people who have been able to change their lives through gambling is very small, the number of people who have lost money is very high.

Currently I don't know anyone, but I only know about two people who have been lucky enough to win about 2m and 1.5m, but still they didn't use it well or for something tangible, as they're still not very financially stable. Therefore, it depends on individuals, because there are some people that would win such an amount of money and their life will have changed from there. Usually when people win such an amount of money via gambling without proper preparation, they will squander it and thinking they're going to win another one immediately, or some end up using huge amounts of money to bet and end up giving it back to the system.

Well, on my own part, i have seen someone whom gambling changed his life. He is a friend, and was doing very low paid job, this guy gambled for years, and seasons, but eventually he won a game that elevated him so much , the amount he won was about $85000, not in million but could reshape his life positively.
This kind of bet is what most of us are really yearning to win, and honestly it doesn't come so easily, and i believe not everyone might be lucky enough to hit it big. Like you said, we mostly hear about big wins on the news, and for the first time I have seen someone i know made it big in gambling.

Hmmm… the only people that I know whose life have been changed through gambling are the gambling operators themselves, those who own the sports bookies and the casinos. They become stunningly rich and go on to buy cars, building good houses and what have you. As for the regular average gamblers who use their system they cannot get rich off of it. The system has been designed that way to keep them coming back for more and making them think the next game is the game that will make them win a life changing money.

I have actually seen few who won big amount but because of over excitement they end up spending it unnecessary, but I know about one person who utilized his own money well , he came from a poor family, I think this happened about 5years ago , his was so young I think 22years, news came out he won a huge amount of money  from Nairabet , he told his parents , funny his was against him betting but as soon they heard the kind of millions he won , they went closer to him so he don’t misused the money , they house was uncompleted building, they had to complete it , gave his mother some money to add up for her  business, got about 2buses for transport business, then wrote jamb and went to university, I think the money changed a lot for them but I don’t know if they are still rich up to date , the news was all over the town because it was in a physical shop he won the money not online .

From most of my friends who gamble and the people around in my area, they have lost money and made their lives bankrupt, no one has gotten rich as far as I know (if there really are, they might be hiding it), but so far because gambling is banned, it might be like that.
From what I've seen in my country most of the people who get rich are those who have owned casinos, not those gamblers, the croupiers are clearly more profitable than the players, so don't make us think it's possible, but rather don't get poor if you gamble.

It's not common for us to have people who have made it in life through gambling. What I normally see is those who won a little or a big amount that will help them to get certain things done, maybe their needs or wants.

However, there is this person I know who won something substantial(amount) from gambling, and they used the money won to go into the road transport business. At least he now has a family that he feeds from the road transport business he started with money won from gambling

The chances of becoming wealthy through gambling are very low. Gambling isn't something someone can just get rich through it, you will have to play and lose multiple times before you maybe luckily win a huge amount from it, whether its casino or sports betting. I haven't actually seen anyone become rich through it, but I have seen some win some good amounts of sports betting. The few big winners we hear about are mostly luck, not a real plan for success. Gambling is a quick to get to some cash, but it's better we don't depend on it for survival or as a means to become rich because the risk there is higher than the rewards. And it's not everyone that loves to lose.
