I think the reason intelligent people can become deeply attached to gambling may sometimes be connected to pride. Because after reading these few points you have highlighted, I saw a lot of reasons why addiction sets in when a gambler loses a game. From my experience, skills are important in gambling but it doesn't guarantee constant wins. Casinos are designed in a way that they have a greater advantage. I recently read an article that talked about the importance of mathematical skills in gambling. I also doubt if this is right because many mathematicians would have become rich through gambling. My stance is that you should do your best but always acknowledge that luck is important.
