Well I can't really tell if they have an edge in Gambling because gambling is unpredictable, but I think somehow they can come up with a reasonable analysis that will have more possibility of wining. Although smart Gambler mean different thing by different people. Some say that smart Gambler is a person that win constantly or he wins more than he loses, why some say that smart Gambler is the one who take calculated risk and follow up his strategy without being overly carried away to the extent of not following his strategy. But however smart Gamblers have special skill in betting, this could be by the type of prediction they make or the level of self control they have that makes them to be more profitable in betting.

Overthinking in my own understanding in Gambling is just two sided. It can sometimes be helpful, it is just vise versa meaning that if it makes you win, it is good but if it make you lose then it becomes worst.

Being too smart can sometimes be a downfall. Gambling is always based on luck. They have an edge in understanding, they understand exactly how the system works, without realizing that what determines the outcome of a bet is not all strategy & management, it is pure luck that is leveraged through understanding. Apart from having a hard time accepting lose, they also have another habit, which is making slow decisions, because they have too many aspects to consider. I myself think that sometimes knowledge is a curse, not happy to see someone who wins a bet with aped condition there.

Yes, you are right, I will not ignore you at all. Because if someone is clever and intelligent, he will not gamble. And even if he does, he will gamble only for entertainment; he will never try to make money from gambling. The best way to actually know those who are smart, and know they themselves are smart and apply that smartness when it comes to gambling activities, is when they know when to quit and call it a day, because in truth, they know that not everyday is a lucky day.

Based on what I have observed, on calculations games or high intelligence gambling they usually have more edge over everyday luck seeker but however it’s true that they get trapped, most of the people I have read about that won the lottery where mathematics teachers and mathematicians or calculation related dealers, so it’s usually for them over thinkers and over analyzes to be consumed with their own knowledge but however it’s way deeper and wider than that. So intellectually capabilities sometimes end in disadvantage but it’s far more beneficial than the negative outcome of over thinking.

What area of life are you even sighting this smart people from? Because I know we have smart people in the field Law, engineering, AI, economics, maths, politics etc and even cryptography but of all, no one in the professional whose smartness in their field of studies can be considered equivalent smartness in the field of gambling because you are neither betting against the house edge or betting on real life events of which non can be confidently predictable.

I also think that many smart people can't lose because in everyday life they're proactive and try to avoid mistakes, but in gambling, they'll lose frequently, because the whole point is to be able to lose, but to do so rarely, and to try to tilt winnings in your favor strategically.
