Just like in the traditional office system, promotion comes after much of experience gained and meaningful contribution to the organisation. I’m a newbie as well, but I never thought about doing this. I don’t know what the advantage is of begging others for merit. Merit is something people choose to give you based on the quality of your posts. As a newbie, I came here to learn more about Bitcoin, read older posts, and better understand how Bitcoin has evolved. Also, being part of a community feels good.

Where did you see that merit is being asked for? A newbie can make mistakes, when he hears for the first time that there is no rank up without merit, he can take someone's advice. Whether he is a newbie or a hero member, he wants to get merit in his heart even if he does not say it publicly. He may not even be aware of the fact that he may be tagged for this reason. Because he may not have known the forum well. But after staying in the forum for a while, he will understand that it was actually a mistake, then it is better to take it seriously. I believe there are a lot of newbies that don't realize patience is a huge part in learning. Some people think they will get merits after a few posts only and if they don't get any, they get discouraged or begin to post low quality content in order to be noticed.  The reality is that it takes time to develop good reputation.

Rather than treating merit as "the goal" you should think of merit as a form of feedback that your contributions are useful.  As you continue to post informative comments and engage in conversations regularly, merits are likely to be awarded naturally. It is not very successful to pursue them,  but they are more likely to be acquired through regular, high quality involvement.

You are very correct mate, so many newbies do this particular thing to get merit, they private message other higher ranked members for merits, but if I'm to say something on that, I will say doing that is a kind of lowering your worth, you are only showing that you aren't capable of earning merits yourself, except through the help of people, which is appalling. Merits is something that shows that your work is really making sense in the eyes and mind of readers.  It shows that you are doing well, and that your posts are quality posts.

However, I don't know how things are been done again in this forum, but I can still say that ranking up is something that is very hard in this forum,  it is something that one needs to really sweat before getting it,  but now, it seems easy because you will see an account that was newly registered will get the amount of merits that will surprise you, meanwhile it really took you time to reach the rank you are.
This thing needs to be corrected too so that everybody will know that he or she needs to make posts that are really worthy  merits.

When I don't care about merits is always when I get merits, that's the trick, don't stay focus on the numbers of your merits, keep doing your thing and sharing what you know on the forum, it's only a matter of time.

The problem is some people are coming on here to earn, someone must have told them that it's possible to earn on the forum which is why they will always be too focused on how much merits they can get instead of how they can make quality contributions.

There is no rock science or magic on how someone can get merited in here, it's all about embracing the forum for what it is and sharing what you believe is good enough, even if you aren't on the right track people will correct you.

Newbies should understand that getting merit in this forum is not a right, even if you think that you made a quality post that is deserving of merit and you get none you cannot do anything about it because nobody is obligated to merit any posts in this forum. I very much agree that if merit is your main aim for joining the forum so that you can earn it and rank up to join a signature campaign nobody really cares as far as you're not breaking the forum rules. What really leads some newbies to ask around for merit is the aim they bring to this forum. Some of these newbies are introduced to the forum as a place for earning, and anyone with that kind of mindset will do everything possible to earn merit and rank up their account in any way. they will never give themselves enough time to learn or be patient enough to rank up based on their contributions to the forum.

Another thing that leads newbies to ask around for merit is that they hardly read most of the forum rules. If they did, I don't think they would send private messages to anyone asking for merit because they would know that what they are doing is wrong. The rules state that only quality posts deserve merit. If a newbie does not receive merit, they should understand that it is probably because their post does not truly deserve it.In fact, there are threads where members can submit posts that they believe are worthy of being merited, and those posts may receive merit. However, I don't know why some newbies don't make use of that opportunity. Maybe they know that their posts are not really worthy of receiving merit.

There has been people who has given up, to navigate in this place i believe learning and knowing more about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency is necessary, most of them forgot that when you come into a new place it will take some time to understand the environment they forgot to be patient and learn through and we are in World that learning never ends i have really learnt alot here and am still learning because to improve you need to keep learning and putting it into practice.

I don't know how much importance you will give to my words, but I think that those who don't run for merit or don't worry about getting merit, in most cases, if you go to their profile, you will see that their merit list is quite large. I don't think that merit is more difficult now than before. Rather, some merit sources still find good posts and give merit. But your post must be of quality. And you can also get merit by contributing to the right discussion at the right time. I think some new members get restless after seeing the merit list of others. If someone keeps thinking that after writing every post, it will get merit, then it is not a discussion but an attempt to get a reward.

Sometimes it’s not about just making better posts. The purpose of posting here is to actually make meaningful and helpful contributions here, and that’s in fact the best way earn merits, especially when these contributions are unique and hadn’t been made before. And I feel it’s even much more easier for newbies, since they’re still new and are not in any haste to fulfill any kind of signature quotas or requirements like other members who are already in a signature campaign, because this sometimes makes some people to only wanna fulfill those quotas rather than actually making reasonable and meaningful contributions.

Growing merits is not something that's easy in this forum, it's takes your post to be of better quality to be able to get merits, but one thing I have noticed is that the moment you start getting merits from a very reliable and higher rank member in this forum, other persons will also find your post worthy of giving merits, and that is how you will start getting merits till you get to a higher rank. I know you might find it frustrating now that merit isn't coming as you expected, but you must exercise patience if you want to last in this forum, else, you will see yourself being red tagged when you've done something that goes against the rules of this forum.
I will advice you to just enjoy making your quality posts, don't place your mind too much on merits, because when it starts coming, you will see it and you will be happy that you are getting it at the right time. You’re correct, the system is hard, but I think the system isn’t hard everywhere, especially when you’re making a good post, and making good and meaningful contributions in different areas in the Forum community, you can actually participate in different innovative projects and activities like bitcoin PIZZA Day and other different kinds, cooking contests.

Newbies are supposed to learn about the forum rules and other aspects of beginners and help, if they have a purpose to learn about bitcoin, they should be more interested in learning that and not chasing merits, when you contribute certain things that is merit worthy, then you get merited.

I still don't understand why someone will join a forum and the first thing that comes to their mind is begging others for merit. Alot of them just want to rank up quickly and join a campaign. So by begging for merit on someone's PM, seems to be the fastest way for them to rank up.  That means they didn't join the forum to learn or contribute something meaningful , they are only after the money.  To earn merit in this forum is very easy, you just need to make quality post, share useful insights and contribute to discussion consistently.  The time they are using in begging people for merit, hadn't they out that effort and time in making good contributions they would have  earn merit and rank up a little by now and perhaps build a good reputation.

However, if they join to look for airdrops or other things unrelated to quality posts, it will of course be very difficult to earn merit. When it comes to quality posts, the definition is subjective. Generally speaking, quality posts include correcting incorrect assumptions, helping other members, thinking through and providing solutions with strong arguments based on data, providing up-to-date information, and so on.

You're right, if someone is willing to develop and isn't lazy about learning, they will surely be appreciated here sooner or later. Because basically, nothing is instant here, unless you already have excellent knowledge and have just registered on this forum. I think people like that might immediately get a lot of attention because of their knowledge. But for beginners who are truly still beginners and everything, it's clear they have a lot to learn to understand how they can develop and earn achievement points. Because otherwise, they will certainly remain in the same zone and nothing will change at all. So, the most important point is they must be willing to learn and just stay silent. Absolutely spot on. In a much as a user can contribute to the forum very intellectually earning Merit shouldn’t be a problem. We have seen newbies come up with a brilliant post and you will see how every high rank members appreciate such post with merit. Merit honestly help you differentiate a user that is contributing highly to the forum and user that is not.

Quality post is highly appreciated, so as a newbie it is advisable to try and read more and also make research so you can contribute positively to forum and you will see how you will deservedly be gifted merit by other members of the forum.
