Don't PM for merit, no magic tricks for earning merits: advice for forum newbies

@OP I was able to learn and learn a great thing today. I am also a new member of the forum, I have only been reading and understanding the rules for the past few days and am even instilling them in my head so that I never make mistakes. April 04, 2026 I joined this forum, since then I have also made a few posts and I have never felt that I am requesting merit from anyone. I know that those who try always succeed. My intention is not to get merit, I will learn and understand from here, take advice, and give my own opinion.
Yes, I know that investing in Bitcoin does not require much knowledge, but along with saving Bitcoin, you have to gain knowledge and increase the amount of investment slowly. So I am sticking to the forum like glue. I am gaining knowledge, accepting everyone's opinions, understanding the good and bad myself.
Finally, I thank @OP for explaining the issues better. If I am wrong in what I said, please correct me, I am new here to learn, to know.

So, my entire sentence in the previous post reads like this: ''If the admins don't want spam in other sections of the forum like gambling, political discussions, offtopic, etc. there's a much easier way to solve it without this unnecessary drama today and that's to simply remove all these sections from the forum, right?''.
So, it seems pretty clear to me which sections of the forum I was referring to, right?

But don't you think it will be a bit harsh since their are still some genuine and good posters that are also benefiting from signature campaign monetization.  Because I think removing those sections away from the forum especially gambling section is good as taking away signature campaign from the forum completely.  What do you think about that? I am curious to know if the forum wouldn't be as lively  as it is or otherwise. What do you think?

Honestly, online forums have long been unimportant and irrelevant and the young generation Z no longer uses them, they are on social networks. They use AI tools to search for information.
This forum has had a continuous decline in activity for years and that's not new anymore. I think that's the main reason why the admins of this forum have tolerated spam on this forum for so long, especially in the gambling section.
Whether this sigban campaign will help prevent spam on this forum remains an open question, I have my reservations about that.
I didn't say anywhere that I'm in favor of a complete ban on signature campaigns, but that it might not be a bad idea to consider limiting or completely removing some sections on this forum that are the main source of spam, such as the gambling section, politics, offtopic etc.
Many signature campaigns actually don't require writing in the gambling section at all, and other campaigns would adapt.
In the end, as I already said, signature campaigns only slowed down what was inevitable anyway, the decline in activity of this forum, but they also increased spam, and as a result of these campaigns, new members, newbies, spam us with private messages and ask us for merits.

I know that most of the current campaigns want to be involved in gambling discussions. And all of these campaigns prioritize the gambling board for the majority of their campaigns. But that doesn't mean that the entire signature campaign system will end if the gambling board is removed. You may not have noticed that there are still many campaigns that accept posts on other boards. You have a point that the signature campaign has a big relationship with the gambling board, but the two are not the same. Because of this, even if the moderator/admin closes the gambling board, the campaign will continue without hesitation. Actually, I don't think the presence of the gambling board is a problem because there are many users who only use this forum to participate in gambling-related discussions and pools. The problem is that users create low-quality or repetitive posts to meet the conditions for receiving payments from the campaigns. So I personally would focus on targeting the spammers, not the board.

if the sections you mentioned is been removed from forum including signature campaign, forum will look matured, but the consequences forum will face, is that, they will be no much interaction traffic in the forum...The reason you see traffic and alt accounts of users in forum is because of signature subscribers...but to filter forum properly is when signature campaign is run without subscription...

Despite that theirs a lot of spam in gambling sections, gambling sections is not really good to be removed, only thing i will suggest about gambling sections, is that, let restrictions of what to discuss should be implemented.. especially a fiction or fabrics story should be restricted in gambling, and let more concentration and attention should give to gambling sections in order to reduce levels of spam over there...basically, politics and society sections, also attracts a lot of spam, i concur for it to be abolish if the needful arises...

I didn't know I was totally wrong in my assumption by thinking that every signature campaign must have their participants always posting on the gambling section , like i thought it was mandatory for them to always engage in gambling discussion not on till now. lol I was really over thinking this day's, anyway thanks for clearing me on that. Meaning signature campaign can still go about their daily activities with or without the gambling section. That's good to know.

This is a mixture of frustration and desperation that has taken over this newbie and that's a tough thing to handle, but this is the first time I'm hearing that a newbie has the nerves to PM a member of this forum for merit. I didn't know that things like this exist here because when I was still a newbie I was frustrated at some point but I dared not PM anyone for merit because I knew that every post that got merit was obviously worth getting it and so I was more worried and frustrated on how to make my post quality enough to deserve merit from members and I hope every newbie learns from this.

I believe the greatest error is to equate merit with the end goal and not an outcome of participation. A newbie should spend some time reading older discussions before attempting to gain merit. Particularly in the boards in which he or she wishes to participate. This will help them to grasp the forum culture, to not rehash common arguments, and to locate where they can contribute something useful. A well considered post which teaches or offers another point of view will garner much more attention than a bunch of flurrying responses.

He is a newbie so that should not be a surprise, a lot of beginners are only concerned about increasing their activities and getting merits without putting in efforts to gain knowledge, this is where the frustration all starts from. Most of them don't even read through the forum rules properly before starting to create threads and doing other activities, this is the reason why they end up making some mistakes. There are no fast ways to earn merits, it is simply a result of the hardwork that you put in to contribute meaningfully to the discussion being posted.

Newbies must be very careful and focus on how to make a good quality post that will help them get merit,  this forum reward hard work and consistency,  you might be on this forum for years and still remain the same level,  if you have to grow make your contribution brief and easy to read.

You cannot expect every beginner to know the rules immediately, it takes some time before they get the hang of how to know their way around the forum but at the same time there are also others that expect to just get merits easily and they think of they can PM hero and senior members they would get it, this is another level of ignorance that a lot of beginners have. When I started posting on the forum my first approach was to learn, the willingness to read, understand and share knowledge is what would help you achieve the level you are aiming for and not trying to be desperate for it. Most of the newbies doing this need to understand that no one owes them merits on the forum, they have to work hard to earn each one.

Hard to determine, since forum has no KYC feature. But who knows maybe the numbers is growing, knowing that this forum slowly gaining popularity. Especially that Bitcoin became so famous worldwide.

This one provably caught their attention of Bitcoin, if they know that there's a chance that they can earn money from this forum.

The problem is many of them didn't read the forum rules. Reason why they commit lots of violation and do some crazy acts that annoys many people in this forum.

There should be no problem with this if the user is actually a newbie, but the thing is, there are a lot of newbies that is not actually newbies. We know and understand that it is not easy to earn merits here in the forum, and they are surely not going to take all of the rules and information all at once, so they are surely vulnerable to mistakes. So for me this kind of DM might be normal, but of course there are rules, so they need to follow them, but for sure, newbies are going to get considered.

My advice, as always, to newbies who want to get some merits is to not to actually make it as a goal. What I always say is to start their cryptocurrency journey or investments, and then use the forum as a tool to help them, the forum is a huge help and can help them a lot with their investments, journey, and problems. If you just continue to get active here and help other members as well using your experience, I can see that eventually, for sure they are going to get merits.

It's easier to post here if you actually have the intention of, for example, wanting to know something, or wanting some help with some issues on crypto, or maybe just some advice, then you could be the one sharing the experience eventually.

This is because most newbies don't actually bother with reading through the forum rules and that's why they sometimes end up creating threads to ask questions that they would have gotten the answers to if they had just read the rules.
The forum does take alot of getting used to and for a newbie, they process can become tiring, I remember most of my posts were deleted when I first joined in, granted, I understand now why they were deleted (they might have been against the rules) but at that time I still felt bad that a post I made the effort to write was just deleted and it didn't just happen once, I'm sure if you've been around the forum you will have seen threads where a newbie is asking why their post got deleted.

My opinion, based on some research and analysis I've read, is that young people, the so-called Generation Z, use social networks for communication, and when it comes to searching for information, AI is increasingly replacing Google.
I think that there is a very small number of young people who actually use Internet forums for communication or to search for information.
Generation Z also has problems in expressing themselves, reading, writing meaningful messages and posts, etc.
This is an additional reason why they avoid online forums.
In support of this thesis, the statistics about the continuous decline in activity on this forum speak for themselves.
Signature campaigns have prevented a larger and faster decline in activity on this forum, but the quality of new members' posts can be seen.
Because of this, it is more difficult for them to get merits and progress on this forum, which then makes it difficult for them to monetize their status on this forum. This of course creates frustration and some of them start begging older members for merits through private messages, which should not happen.

I agree. In my opinion, it's also good that they use AI for something that interests them, and the same goes for social networks. But let's be realistic, if they were even 5% interested in BTC, they would find everything they are interested in on this forum.I look at myself as an example. Apart from BTC, I have come across many quality people here who have knowledge not only about BTC, but about many other things as well.As for the quality of the posts, as you said, it shows.
