That is a good piece of advice. He simply wanted to know how to earn 'merit' from everyone. If he sees this discussion (thread), I would tell him—if your posts are of high quality and beneficial to others, there is no need to go around asking for it. This thread of yours is the prime example of this. It contains vital information and warnings for newcomers. That is precisely why the original poster (OP) has received 'merit' from so many people (had I the ability, I would have given 20 merits myself). Newcomers should learn this lesson: if someone shares high-quality, useful information or a valuable post, everyone will reward them.
Newbies should not focus earning merit at first, since it will just lead them doing some unacceptable things here, particularly using Ai. So focus learning the important things and merit will just came on their way later on. Yeah newbies should focus on trying to know things about the forum and also try to understand bitcoin and cryptocurrency, if a newbie focus on this things and then become more grounded on them they are going to have a lot of merit without even forcing it, merits are given to good and quality post, newbies should know this and try to improve, when they improve merit will come and they will grow. Lack of patience is one of the things that makes some newbies misbehave, when you don't have patient in life a lot of things we go wrong. Sincerely, it isn't easy. I remember the night I signed up. It wasn't easy because there were lots to read. I had taken some nay days reading and trying to understand somethings and also find out my preferred boards to always engaging in. Once this was done, then u started reading more. I think I fell in love with the investment stuffs, especially in the economics board. I read more there and started getting some few points about how to invest and all of that. Though before coming here, I had some little knowledge about Bitcoin investment and how it's done, but it was minute. Reading in all those investment threads gave me some understanding, and gradually, I started making some contributions which has helped me gotten more knowledge. Truly, patience is teachable. I think all what we need as new comers here is the quest to read, and exercise some patience, ask questions where necessary and you will begin to understand. It's a good community I must say.

Today I received a message about merits. I am not angry, but I think it's necessary to share with newbies; hence, I intend to create this post. I haven't reported him as well and not been tagged for that, because he is a newbie and may not know the forum culture. So it's necessary to know how newbies could earn merits. I have hidden the username; some of you may criticise him or ignore him. Here is the quote: Hello sir, I hope you and your family are all well. Sir, I want your help. I have come to you to ask a strange question. I don't know how you will take me. I apologize in advance if I have said anything wrong. Let me tell you the main thing.
I have been on the BitcoinTalk forum for about 50 days. From what I have understood from studying the forum these past few days, most of the users here dream of first becoming a Full Member and then becoming Legendary. You have achieved this. But without merit, the rank does not increase. Sir, my question is, how can I earn merit from everyone (even from you) by posting? Please don't misunderstand me, I have not come to ask for merit from you. But I have come to you to know how I can get everyone (even you) to give merit. That is, what are the things you consider when you give merit to someone's post?
Finally, I want to tell you that if my unnecessary question makes you feel annoyed, then I am sorry. I hope you will teach me from your valuable time.
Thank you sir,,
So my answer was very simple. There are no magic tricks for earning merits; you have to spend more time to learn first, and then you have to contribute to the forum. Except for this, there are no quick magic tricks. This answer is for all newbies; I didn't take it negatively since he is still a learner and he may be curious about earning merits. Also, my advice to all newbies: don't send such a PM to any user. Because if someone takes it negatively and reports it to the admin, then you might get your account banned. On the other hand, DT members would tag as well if they took it negatively. This won't be a good practice for newbies; don't make a merit post or don't send a merit PM. I totally agree with you, there’s no magic in earning merit in this forum, all you have to do as a newbie is to open your mind to learn, understand and also contribute by posting quality post automatically you will start earning merits. I know it’s not easy to grow in this forum, even me, most times I hardly see merit talk more of newbies. All you need to do is just to concentrate more on post who where merited and learn. Don’t pm anyone to teach you on how you can get merit, because they can use it to banned your account.

A lot of newbies are desperate to get merits so they can start earning but they tend to forget that in order to earn you must first of all take out time to learn, this is part of the process that should not be neglected. It is not an easy journey to be earn merits and most people send PM's like this out of frustration but one thing they forget is that nothing good comes easy. What beginners should focus on is gaining knowledge and enjoying the process otherwise it is going to be very frustrating to think of getting merits at the beginning stage.

Those who are new to this forum should focus on knowing that how this forum works. One who has good knowledge about crypto can start taking part in discussions straight away while other must focus on increasing there crypto knowledge first. Merits are not very hard to earn, if you know how to get them through your skills and hard work. Sending PM to other members will be of no use because that will do irreversible damage to repute of your account and you can never undo that damage in the future.

Learning takes process and gradual procedures but many of this newbie coming to join the community don’t want to have that patience and get to understand the forum much better and focus more on learning firstly before thinking on ranking up which is wrong. As a newbie, we need to give learning time and more commitment it needs then after we have acquire the right amount of knowledge then there might be tendency of merits flowing in but not by us entering Dm asking for merits. We can’t just jump on success without going through a process and practically that is what many of this newbies are trying to do, which that route can’t work not on this community. We must give a lot before receiving same energy, so acquire knowledge share knowledge and the nature do it thing.

The most important thing to cultivate for new members here is; patience in the learning process, and a healthy effort to cultivate curiosity. I often see new members who are impatient, so they quickly get bored, and never seem active again. They also seem unwilling to put in the extra effort, and these users often ask questions they could actually find in existing threads. I completely agree with your opinion regarding success being impossible without a process. Essentially, any knowledge or skill can only be acquired through a process, and there is no instant method that can be considered a good one. Therefore, try to respect the process with full patience, and don't give up easily.

The most formidable form of learning is through reading forums. Don't mind the regular traditional social media network. Those ones are desgined to take the attention of people to doomscroll, unlike the bitcoin that is an internet discussion forum. The bitcointalk is a simple machine forum. Images are allowed to be posted but videos cannot be directly posted but the links can be shared. And that made the bitcointalk to be strictly for learning and discussion.

I agree with both of you, and I dread the day when people have been brainwashed in such a way that no one uses other communication systems that we could already call "traditional" and that are not influenced by any algorithm. There is a danger that the rest of the media will be conditioned in a very sophisticated way, but I still trust in the collective power to share information both in forums like this one and, to give another example, Wikipedia. They will not be perfect, but I don't know of a better source of information. And within that imperfection, it is partly solved thanks to the merit system.

On another perspective, a lot of newbies were brought here with wrong orientation. They were told about needing a merit to rank up but they were not told how to earn the merits. They were not told they need to make genuine and helpful contributions for the merit to come their way as a reward for their efforts which help them to rank up.
That is true. Most of them were wrongfully informed the way the system work and that is why this is happening. However, majority beleive that once they can get the required number of merit need to rank up, that will give them a chance of getting into a payable signature campaign. Therefore, this mindset of theirs, is mostly responsible for the begging of merits especially from newbies. I believe we'll have fewer cases of merit begging if they were properly guided. Growth is natural if you focus on pure contribution but if you focus on merit without effort, you're literally wasting your time.
I think so too. But no time is too late if really they want to make amend and start contributing to the community. Moreover, the forum is a very opened place for anyone that want to learn. What I know is that there is no shortcut to success, if anyone must achieve success in live then the said person must earn it.

From experience as someone who has been on this forum and has experienced steady growth from the time I was in newbie up to this level, I am, I would agree that to achieve success. You must earn it, and you would earn it gradually. One of the things I like about this forum which also applies to life generally is that if you are consistent if you contribute positively growth will become natural, but if you chase the wrong thing just as the topic is sooner rather than later, you will be kicked out from the forum either naturally or by others.

We are all aware of the benefits of this forum, and the possibility of monetizing our status and rank on the forum through various campaigns. Of course, this is very attractive to beginners on this forum, and for some it is the main reason for joining the forum. However, in order to get something from this forum, you first need to give something to the community on the forum, in order to gain respect and reputation of the community and advance on the forum to the point where you can start earning, according to the quality of your posts and other criteria. There is no way to speed up this process by begging other members for merits, but only through hard work and time invested on this forum, for the benefit of the forum community. The sooner newbies understand this, the better. I think it is a fairly set system, fair for everyone.

I think the real test of consistency is seen in what someone continues to do even when the reward isn’t really that noticeable. In a forum as this one, when people start to chase merits or attention, they may easily lose sight of the why meaningful contributions really matters in the first place. When one focuses more on consistent learning and sharing useful insights on sensitive issues, they potentially build something that literally goes beyond their current rank or status and that is way more profitable than any rank anyone can ever attain, because we can have a Legendary Member who’s making little to no impact or even causing nuisance in the forum.

All I see here is desperation from them newbies that randomly send such messages soliciting merits. I believe they don’t know the forum is against that. Op I must commend you on how you handled this, using it as a medium to educate other ignorant newbies is highly commendable. I just hope the right people that this post is meant for come across it, so they won’t fall victim, because they might do it with someone who won’t handle it the way you did yours.
Even though some people don't agree with this method used op is actually right, it might be embarrassing for the newbie but if this isn't corrected a lot of beginners would make the same mistake. Being desperate to get merits leads to things like this and it's quite surprising that most newbies ignore basic things like the forum rules and start to focus only on how they can get merits, skipping these steps isn't going to help them in anyway. Op handled this the way it's supposed to be dealt with and a lot of people that are probably planning make the same mistake would come across this post.

First of all I love the boldness the user came with to ask you those things, if it were me I won't take it in an offensive manner just like you did, thank you for that act you took, not everyone would behave the way you did after getting such pm. So no need for tag or whatsoever, all I understood from the quoted words is that the user is just wondering how these things works, it will be bad to see those who came the same period as you did in the forum, they are getting more recognition than yourself and even as far as getting merit to boost their rank and you're still where you are, that alone will prompt you to start asking questions. The user is curious which is not a bad thing, maybe he or she noticed that is hard to earn merit these days that could be one of his reasons nobody knows but is still a bold step he took to pm you. Newbies will always have to get worried when things doesn't go their way, was like that too and coming online itches me too. Well, OP I love how you handled this issue, if I should call it an issue, the user will be grateful for your words and following him or her up to see how he or her is keeping up or has improved with the way he post and all that will be better, maybe you could be a mentor to the person in question.

Op, thank you again for bringing this topic and addressing the newbies respectively, many of these newbies will never read the forum rules and regulations or follow up on beginners threads they just want to be rank up overnight without working hard, they feel Senior members are gifted merit, this generation lacks patience to work and hold for their turn.
We all grow from newbies to where we are today, no one guftrd us any merits, when stayed determined and consistent for years, he's just 50days on the forum and he already tired and lobbying for merits, it's a very bad habit on this forum, merits are reward on merits just as the name implies, you got it by merit and not be gift or lobbying, this is a huge lesson for others to learn from.

A lot of newbies are desperate to get merits so they can start earning A flawed mindset from the outset. Anyone who wants to earn money should get a job. This forum was never meant to be treated as a source of income.

Even though some people don't agree with this method used op is actually right, it might be embarrassing for the newbie but if this isn't corrected a lot of beginners would make the same mistake.
Is it really a mistake or a misguided intention and misjudge of a reputable users personality. There are rules and rules that try to shape how we operate on the forum and move here. It’s utmostly for the good of everyone and even more so for the newbies. If pm for merits becomes a trend, many would want to work that part and then, the issue of farmed accounts would be over the roof. I don’t see anything wrong with the method the OP has utilize to get the word out, it’s the very best means to ensure people learn to be mindful of how they choose to move and with whom. One thing newbies don’t pay much attention to is the fact that, these difficulties is what makes you better in discussions and writing in general.

A lot of newbies are desperate to get merits so they can start earning A flawed mindset from the outset. Anyone who wants to earn money should get a job. This forum was never meant to be treated as a source of income. The truth here is that many members on this forum uses this forum as a source of income and if not their main source of income but it serves as a source of income for them that help to settle their problems and necessities. And there are users who come into this forum with the mindset of seeing and taking this forum as a source of income and they get to achieve their goals but with straight mindset of abiding by the rules and working hard to build their account with the knowledge they have and not by pm other members for merits. To attain some kind of success or growth we need to work hard in any direction we find ourselves, either it this forum or anywhere. The more we work hard then we can get to achieve our goals, success doesn’t come with ease that why pm for merits isn’t advisable.
