When the government's revenue is used for public welfare and this revenue brings benefits to the people, then perhaps paying taxes does not seem uncomfortable to the people. However, I will not be comfortable paying taxes in a country where even after collecting high taxes, the people do not get fair benefits, the state's revenue is not used honestly and the people's expenses are not reduced. Although there are high taxes in some countries, the state benefits include free energy, free transportation, improved communication, free fuel and improved defense systems. If a country can provide sufficient benefits, then perhaps the people feel comfortable paying taxes. Moreover, I do not want the government to embezzle my money, I am not willing to pay taxes.

The frustration is not irrational bro, because it is a perfectly logical response to a system that uses inflation and also seems structurally designed to transfer purchasing power from wage earners to asset owners. It looks like the game is rigged by design, not by accident, because our salaries are denominated in units that are constantly being devalued, while our landlord’s property and our employer’s assets inflate in the same environment.

Earning more and still feeling poor is basically inflation tax haha, because central banks print more money and your savings shrink, yet nobody sends you a bill for that. It is still you who pays for it.

If you come to think of it, I believe the biggest part of it is psychologcal. People can tolerate paying into a system when they believe hard work will eventually create stability but once salaries stop translating into actual progress, frustration quietly starts building.

Most people do not really hate paying taxes if they can clearly see good roads, quality healthcare, security, electricity and better living conditions from it. What frustrates people is working harder every year while life keeps becoming more expensive. Imagine earning $3,000 a few years ago and living comfortably, but today even $10,000 may still not feel enough because rent, food, fuel and transportation prices have all increased badly. That is why many people now look for investments or assets like Bitcoin, land or businesses to protect their future instead of depending only on salary and savings.

Most people, along with I, only pay taxes on goods or property that have direct legal consequences for avoiding them. These include taxes on vehicles, buildings, and purchases, where the tax rate is already added to the price of the goods.

In my country, especially MSMEs, they often aren't optimally covered by taxes because they aren't registered businesses and are dominated by untraceable cash transactions. Meanwhile, the majority of the population chooses to survive through these means.

I don't know for other countries...in my country tax is not been paid open, because if tax is been made to the public, many people is not going to comply with government instructions or policy of paying tax, i observed and understand that tax is only made for people who working for the government, why business people doesn't pay tax...actually tax is supposed to be compulsory for everyone dwelling in a country, but in my country, because of corruptions, tax is not been paid...

In a country like mine, I don't think the citizens are happy paying tax, because they don't even see what their tax money is used for by the government.  I think it would have been easy for everyone to pay their taxes if the government makes life easy for the citizens and they also feel the effect of the tax they are paying,  but in a situation you don't feel the impact of the tax you are paying,  it's normal for anyone to not want to pay it, or not feel happy when they do. I really believe that most people will gladly pay tax if they can feel the impact of it.

It is not possible to say how many percent of people like taxes and how many percent of people dislike taxes, it is not enough to express it only by your feelings.

From my feelings, if I say, people feel comfortable paying taxes only when the people are satisfied with their state. When the taxes they pay are only the main source of luxurious living of the country's politicians and the taxes they pay are being wasted, then the people of any country will not feel comfortable paying taxes. Why do we have to pay money to receive government services even after paying taxes? Why will there be suffering on the roads? Why do we have to spend extra money for the education of our children? People are already used to the tax, if I’m not mistaking maybe not everywhere has same rule though the government take their tax even before sending salary.
The honest truth is people get frustrated because they can’t live up to a good standard probably compared to previous times minding how the economy is changing, when the government take their tax yet fail to develop the economy or a good structure is wrong and bad.

What we hate is when we don't get value for our tax dollars.  In some places, you are taxed heavy and one medical event can bankrupt you after doing the right financial things all your life.  In other placed, you are taxed heavy, but don't get bankrupt by medical events and university is also covered too.

Simply because they understand how a country works. What people hate is getting overtaxed while seeing little to no progress at all. People are willing to pay their taxes as long as they can see where the money goes. In many third-world countries, some self-employed individuals don’t pay their income taxes or even bother declaring their income because they believe most of the tax money ends up being lost to corruption, which is true. If the government used public funds properly and efficiently, more citizens would be willing to pay their taxes because, at the end of the day, they are the ones who would benefit from it.

I understand why a country need to collect taxes from its citizens. Because of that, I don’t hate taxes in principle, however when I start seeing the government use taxes to fund shady or useless programs, I begin to hate paying taxes. My hatred increases when the government becomes more corrupt and funds more inefficient programs.

On the other hand, it's true our income is affected by inflation but if taxes are used properly, It can provide incentives such as education, healthcare, training programs and more. These programs can help reduce our personal expenses through government support but in reality, many people still struggle to meet basic needs and the government often only provides temporary solutions instead of long term sustainable solution.

Seriously, this all tax issue is so frustrating which as made life more difficult for the people, whenever someone thinks he or she has gotten paid more, the issue of tax will come in, that is the more you earn the more tax you pay.

And I have come to reason it, this taxes are beneficial only to the government, its cabinet and family members who are always traveling abroad or most have even become part and indigenous in some countries. If not, why is our country not developing? People suffer from starvation, hunger, insecurity, bad roads, lack of electricity supply etc. At least with this high taxes the government is charging it can be used to tackle all these issues but still no avail, nothing has been done to stop it.

Talking about going back to olden days of saving money, it's good but with this present economy it will be difficult to practice it, despite some places still adapt such culture ways of savings, but when you ask them their challenges you will hear alot, like thefts, destruction by termite and the climate weather changes, because they lack proper ways of saving it. But it will be good that the government slashes the high income taxes, to make life easier for it's people since they are not paying them well to suit the economy conditions.

Sadly, governments sometimes demand more and give very little in return. At the end of the day, we still do not get to retire peacefully. We are the ones working for ourselves, our kids, our families, and for the country too, while those in power often use those funds for wars and destruction and then give it a title like they are saving people. (I am not talking about my country haha.)

Because mine is doing even worse. They take money in the form of loans, then collect taxes, corruption happens with both the tax money and the loan money, and still somehow the country keeps floating. I honestly do not understand why we have not hit a ceiling yet. But this is not only about us. I do not like loans, even if I understand that sometimes a country may need them, but only if they truly plan to reinvest that money back into the country. Instead, they often invest it elsewhere, like building societies for elite classes and giving them even more privileges and relaxation.

Anyway, this is why we should save more and invest in assets because otherwise we may never earn enough while powerful people continue abusing their power and misusing public funds.

The subject/title of the discussion is actually different from the actual discussion, because you have mentioned about people not hating taxes, and then you started talking about inflation and no increments in salaries and everything, and that is a completely different topic altogether. There is no doubt that people get frustrated and will surely start questioning whatever they are doing if the government is not doing anything to make sure that they don't suffer, but this isn't directly connected to taxes and why people hate or don't hate them.

I believe the biggest reason why a person would hate paying taxes is if they see that the government is not using the taxes in the right way. It's government's job to use the tax money for the country and the people, and the effects of that should be visible to the people so that they can see that their money is being used in the right way, but if that isn't happening, people will surely feel like they are being cheated, and they then wouldn't like paying taxes.

So basically, no one hates paying taxes as long as the tax money is being used for the right purposes.

Personally, I don't get why governments even need taxes at all. Americans pay massive amounts of taxes just for Donald Trump to wage wars all over the globe.

The British paid taxes to finance Brexit. Was that supposed to be a brilliant move?

And the French pay taxes just so ecstatic sports fans can periodically trash the streets of Paris.

My point is, if you were allowed to keep your own money and even received a dividend from the profits of businesses operating in your country, you'd have all that capital. Trust me, you would take much better care of yourself than your government ever could.

Crypto is the very first step toward leaving governments without our cash. That’s exactly why they are desperately trying to control and regulate everything.

AI is another major step toward not paying taxes. Set up an AI agent, let it earn money for you, and then let’s see them try to tax it.

But what I take as an example is for example vehicle taxes, for people who really have a fixed and stable income and also own a four-wheeled vehicle then they should pay taxes on their vehicles including motorbikes, but not a few also in my neighborhood who do not pay taxes the strong reason is the poor performance of the government.

Well, their attention is already focused on surviving day to day. They often don't have the time or remaining financial to think about income taxes. From what I know some countries exempt people from paying income tax if their earnings below a certain threshold.

It's common for people to hate paying taxes especially when they feel that their government is not serving society effectively or responsibly. The country should take firm action against public officials who violate laws and regulations but we often see government officials breaking the rules without receiving a proper cpunishment, particularly when money or influence is involved. That can make people even more hate and less willing to pay taxes as a result it's not surprising that some people try to avoid paying taxes whether on their income, vehicles, homes or other assets.

I'm from Nigeria and I can tell you that the idea of paying tax to the government boils me down to my bone marrows. More of a tolerant more fvcker lately but the idea of tolerating taxes completely bullshit.

The government has made life difficult for the person and it has become a lot difficult for people to keep up with life. It all boils down to the system of the government no?! And what they practice, yeah?! Yeah, maybe people are beginning to farm and also gather assests with less volatility which can get them cash flow.

In fact, I believe that all citizens of all countries are not very comfortable with paying taxes to the government. Even here, there are definitely some specific countries where people are comfortable paying taxes. But as you said about your country, if I talk about my country here, then here I think that the tax we pay to the government of our country does not seem to be 30% and is spent for our benefit or good.

If they agree to make taxes optional, there would be many people refusing to pay taxes, that is why it is good they pass it into law. The problem concerning paying these taxes is that we are heavily taxed compared to how the economy is favorable compared to the size of our income, or worse of it, is for countries where the taxes are not used for public support, rather for selfish interests.

I don't hate taxes, but if the government are not using my taxes for right purpose, I don't mind bypassing some of them.
