Most people can tolerate taxes because they understand governments need revenue which is understandable.

What really frustrates them is realizing that no matter how hard they work, their salary keeps losing the race against real life. You get a small raise and for one moment it feels like progress… then rent increases, food gets more expensive, transport goes up, and suddenly that raise means almost nothing again.

In some countries, I don’t see any reason why tax is being collected because the salary is very low, and the government can’t even give an account or show workings of what the tax money has been used for in development.

 In countries where earners earn well and there are basic amenities and good development, nobody even questions the government about tax. If the government is doing well, the people won’t even complain about tax because they understand what it is being used for.

I got so much from my country. I got free education, free healthcare, safety net and peace. I am gladly paying high tax rates for having lowest levels of corruption in the world, while being on the top of the happiest countries in the world. I am not a nationalist but i love my country.

Even though some governments are worse then others, they will come and go and no single government can mess this all up. I understand that not all people agree how our tax money should be used, but that's democracy and everyone is entitled to their opinions.

When the government's revenue is used for public welfare and this revenue brings benefits to the people, then perhaps paying taxes does not seem uncomfortable to the people. However, I will not be comfortable paying taxes in a country where even after collecting high taxes, the people do not get fair benefits, the state's revenue is not used honestly and the people's expenses are not reduced. Although there are high taxes in some countries, the state benefits include free energy, free transportation, improved communication, free fuel and improved defense systems. If a country can provide sufficient benefits, then perhaps the people feel comfortable paying taxes. Moreover, I do not want the government to embezzle my money, I am not willing to pay taxes.

Majority among of us willing to pay taxes due to good management. So its happens then' when government used the amount of taxes on the development of roads, good education and health facilities and if government doing these things then people happily paying taxes. So actual problem starts when corruption is occured in public funds so many people get stressed in this situation. But tax is very important because it uses in welfare of the citizen. People should pay taxes because in reward they deserve to take questions on governmental polices. Government should make good plans and shows the people how its Works. So when government gives good opportunities and people easily feels the difference then people willis to pay more and more and legal taxes to pay.

That’s why many people today are earning more money than they did years ago, yet somehow still feel very financially weaker.

If you come to think of it, I believe the biggest part of it is psychologcal. People can tolerate paying into a system when they believe hard work will eventually create stability but once salaries stop translating into actual progress, frustration quietly starts building.

That’s also why more people are moving beyond traditonal saving and looking for assets they believe can protect value long term because many no longer trust income alone to keep up.

I'm from Nigeria and I can tell you that the idea of paying tax to the government boils me down to my bone marrows. More of a tolerant more fvcker lately but the idea of tolerating taxes completely bullshit.

The government has made life difficult for the person and it has become a lot difficult for people to keep up with life. It all boils down to the system of the government no?! And what they practice, yeah?! Yeah, maybe people are beginning to farm and also gather assests with less volatility which can get them cash flow.

This is because you are from Nigeria, we all know what's happening in Nigeria,  even if you all pay taxes they won't use them money the right way, Nigerians will still remain the same.

We have enough resources in that country, enough for the government to take their eyes away from taxation but they will never do it, all they want is more money for their own balance.

The problem is if every one of them is been replaced with another Nigeria the problem will still be the same or even worser.

Someone from elsewhere is the answer, this is my own opinion though, as for the insecurity problem, military should take back power, because we have too many tribes, we all coming together to fight for our right will be the hardest thing ever.

I think it is true that people dont hate paying taxes. They just dont like that they are forced to pay. If it was possible to choose which amount to pay and when (but that would be obligatory still), people would not avoid paying them. They would skip some payments, pay not in full and large amounts, but still will pay them with 100% probability. People would pay them if spending taxes were more transparent. People would pay them if they were able to choose where they will be spend on.

If they agree to make taxes optional, there would be many people refusing to pay taxes, that is why it is good they pass it into law. The problem concerning paying these taxes is that we are heavily taxed compared to how the economy is favorable compared to the size of our income, or worse of it, is for countries where the taxes are not used for public support, rather for selfish interests.

I don't hate taxes, but if the government are not using my taxes for right purpose, I don't mind bypassing some of them.

If they make it balanced, meaning if you pay taxes, you get benefits like health care, police protection, firefighters, education in school, kindergartens, pension and something else. Lets say you will be give option which benefits you want to take, and from that amount of your tax is calculated - I think in this case everyone will pay them instead of trying to avoid. I believe the problem is not taxes itself, but their size. Decrease income tax from 20-30% to 5% and people will be more than happy to pay everything.

I believe that the national currency in any country must meet two criteria. First, in dollar terms, salaries must be high so that citizens can afford to buy things with dollars outside their own country, from cars to vacations. As for the second point, the purchasing power of the population must grow over time. Because I've already encountered a situation where my salary was raised by 20 percent a year, but I spent half my salary on food, and I still spend the same. Nothing has changed.

It's more about people trying to have their own money and do not trust their government. Liberal understanding when it's my money, socialist understanding when it's someone elses. Do you know what people exactly wants, like literally, deep within?

They want to pay zero taxes, keep all their money, and then everyone else in the nation puts a money into a pool so that they would be able to use medical, educational, governmental whatever things without contributing to that pool. They want others to pay for it, not them. I know that sounds silly, but that is how it is, people dislike being the one to pay, and they do not want to. Maybe not in Norway, they are happy, because they get what they deserve back, but that's not the case in many other nations.

Yes if they give people this option for the tax they wouldn't even beg anybody but instead people are the ones that would be pleading on the government to be part of the tax payers because there are so many things for a person to benefit, because education, health and pension is something everybody wouldn't miss to have because health care is expensive as well as schooling because there are universities you would have to pay a lot of fees and textbooks so if the tax covers for all this then life will not much be hard but however considering how important all this things are government will not like to tax %40 of salary because it may possibly reach %60 of what everyone is earning.

That's why if there's election on your country its really better for people not to settle with less and eliminate those useless officials. Then time to choose better people in government offices.

Most of my relatives in the US left their country because of insecurity, they fear that no where is safe in their country again and they want a better place, but on getting to US they started complaining about taxes taking nearly everything from them.

How can you work alot and most of the money you make goes to taxes? I guess every countries have their problems afterall, it's left for them to stay there since they want to be in safer hands and keep paying that taxes than coming back to their own country.

Taxes is a piece of joke here, it doesn't affect your salary that much, the amount is not killing like other countries, if you think that people on America are not complaining you are wrong.

It is not so much of a problem, as taxes are used to fund important projects and maintain the high standard in the country. The standard of living is high in first world countries and it is taxes that the government uses to maintain that standard. I know some citizens would not agree with some of their governments policies and may not consider their tax-dollars worth certain projects or actions, but over all, the taxes are put to good/efficient use.

Try to find out what is making their people not to pay taxes, because if truly government is using the taxes to do what will make life easy for people living in that country or environment, nothing will make people not to pay taxes. If you watch the country that is progressing over their country you will discover that steady taxes citizens are paying is what is giving their government to established what other countries are wishing to do because they are seeing results from those countries that is paying taxes.

But the tax burden will become a major problem for the public when it is not commensurate with the benefits that can be felt. So I personally believe that people will not hate taxes as long as the government can manage them well. And the money from tax revenue can help build the country effectively in every aspect. But most people will hate taxes if the government fails to maximize their use by leading to a decline in performance across all aspects of the tax system.

In other words, our elected officials are constantly fucking us, not using lubrication, and are targeting their phallus fingers on anything that even resembles a hole.  That shit hurts, and my little unofficial poll is telling me that taxes are absolutely not popular at all.

There is never enough money to do meaningful project, but the moment something that would benefit them comes up, there will be billions of dollar available for those projects. Makes you wonder if the reason for taxes is to make the lives of people in the country better or to do what benefits the government officials. It's very triggering when you think about it.

My country restricted the use of crypto, even went as far as freezing any bank account that they figure out was dong anything related to Bitcoin and crypto. Then this same government went ahead and started taxing crypto. How does it make sense to tax what you do not want the people to use? The moment they saw they could make a lot of money from crypto taxes, they figured out a way to tax it. It's insane. They don't want to create an environment where bitcoin and crypto related activities would flourish, but they are ready to tax the ones that people have created for themselves. Worst part is, they won't put the taxes they get to good use.

I disagree, if you look around the world you will see that 100% of humanity thinks that taxes are wasted, and it is not efficiently used. We are not going to see these getting any better in the world neither.

USA is a big one and great example on how they are wasting trillions every single year, and they are still bad. Like they are spending so much on education, yet one of the worst in education, children are ranked last in some topics. They spent so much on medicaid or medicare or whatever it is named now, and yet they have people dying because they can't afford a simple few bucks insulin shot. People wants to see the manifestation of their taxes practically, if you're paying tax and your government is working I believe that you wouldn't mind, even if you think that some taxes are rip-off by the government but the government infrastructures on ground will calm you mind. Reverse is the case in many countries where there are hardly any basic amenities yet government is taxing the citizens you naturally wouldn't be happy to pay you taxes, you will only be paying your taxes because of the penalties of defaults.

You will wonder what many underdeveloped countries with mineral resources are doing with tax collected from their hardworking citizens where the economy is not working. No good roads, inadequate security, no steady electricity supply and the rest yet the citizens are paying taxes, it is very unfair.

What a great opportunity you have, it hard to see an individual talking about having such great experience in their country. I never knew there was a country that still offer free education, free healthcare services and so on. I don't know which country you belong to but my own country is a different case. Our taxes suppose to be use for renovation projects, they are meant for public services to ensure that everyone enjoys a bit of it in one way or the other. Even the citizens have the right to present their own opinions but they are not given the privilege.

I think most people do not hate taxes. We want our hard-earned money to be spent on the development of the country, education, healthcare, the poor and needy who do not get two meals a day, and public welfare. When people see that tax money is not being used properly or it has become a cause of corruption and there is a lot of waste, then we are unhappy.
The government of a country is not only responsible for collecting taxes, but also for ensuring accountability for every part of that tax. And to gain the trust of the citizens, the government should increase transparency and show the people how that tax is being used for the development of the country and what has been done for the development of the country.
In fact, we are not against taxes, but we are against injustice and waste.

I really don't think that people hate the idea of paying tax, but it's only annoying when you don't get the benefits of paying tax from your government.  We all know that the government needs tax for the running of the country,  so it's definitely mandatory for citizens to pay tax, but you feel very bad when the government converts this money to their own personal use. I believe that their are countries that the citizens really enjoys the benefit of their tax, but in my country I must say that I really hate the idea that I have to pay tax to the government,  because I don't enjoy the benefits of my tax.
