Well, picking defenders in my team is slowly turning out to be a disaster. Two of my picks entered their games from the bench and one even didn't get to play. I have two defenders on the bench, but Svensson played one f*cking minute in the game against Tunisia and now only one defender will be substituted when the round ends.

I also read that Yamal should be ready to play at least a few minutes in the Spain opening game against Cape Verde. Maybe he stays benched which would mean that McGinn will be in my team instead of him.

Replace them individually - it works different than FPL Fantasy.
How come you people buy into the tournament without even reading the rules?

Well, I expected it to work in a similar way like it worked in the FPL. Now I see that there is much more to it than in the FPL. I even FOMOed into all these World cup competitions so I'm barely finding my way around all the different competitions.

The problem with replacing manually is that I will lose the Maximum captain booster that I have turned on. It saved me because I chose Jimenez as the captain, but Havertz got me more points so it immediately became the captain.

Many people actually didn’t read the rules because they thought this will same as the EPL fantasy but for anyone that has actually played different tournaments fantasy they are usually changes that I would say are always different from each competition I will still urge every participant who haven’t gone through it should definitely to do so because it’s still early in the competition.

As for your maximum captain booster, the manual change wouldn’t actually change that but you can only move your captain to a player yet to play their game. Although with Jimenez already your captain it would be risky to seriously have that change now

Using your maximum captain booster does not prevent you from making manual substitutions.
Maybe I shouldn't be giving away these bits of advice since we are competing but I want everyone to have a fair chance. For example, you still have Cucurella sitting on your bench and he is about to play while you have two starting defenders with only 1 point, you should make a manual substitution right now to bring Cucurella into your team,  you will still keep your maximum captain bonus active for whoever ends up scoring the most.

Regarding the maximum captain chip, burning it in the first round wasn't the best strategy, you can rotate your captain manually after every game anyway, you can pass the armband across your whole team if needed. Chips like that are more valuable in the semifinals or finals when there are barely any games left and you can't easily rotate your captain to chase points. For the next rounds just start the armband on a player who features in the very first game, if he blanks move it to someone playing the next game and keep moving it until someone hits a score you are satisfied with, keep in mind that once you remove the armband from a player you can't captain him again.

Wow, what can I say. Thank you for explaining all of this. I have read the rules before the competition, but just barely. It's hard to understand the rules (especially when there are so many of them) if you never played fantasy football on this level. The FPL is like a kids toy when compared to this.

EDIT: Actually, I can't touch anything right now because I hope that Yamal won't get to play in today's game or that Rodriguez won't play in the game against Uzbekistan. In that case Yamal/Rodriguez will get automatically subbed for McGinn who got 11 points, but is among my substitute players.

And that's how you wasted one chip for something you're allowed to do manually without using a chip. The maximum boaster is best used in the Semi final games or final game to maximize it value. It's your first time playing this format and it's okay..

Spain ended up keeping a clean sheet against Cape Verde, but Raya didn't even play. Now I'm totally screwed because I've already used my substitution on Raya and there's chance he won't play at all this round.

I probably should've waited and only subbed Neuer out after two games. Using substitution after just one game is usually a bad idea unless the official lineup confirms.

I guess it was supposed to be no news that Simon was definitely going to be the one to start in goal ahead of Raya for Spain, and for manual substitutions too, you should never take out a player before confirming the lineup except if they player you're taking got zero points to begin with.

I'm partially regretting my choice of not doubling up on Spain defense, but I didn't want to deprive myself of the opportunity to have double outfield players from Spain if they were to be fit for the second match day, I would have been in the perfect spot right now if Ecuador hadn't given up that late goal to Ivory Coast.

I haven't made a single Sub yet for this round - my team was properly arranged to avoid too many twists in-between games. The subs on the bench are for the last games of this round.

Oyarzabal was a complete disappointment but his stinker didn't do much damages since he's one of the highest owned asset - the biggest disappointment was my differential pick; Sane

What a delusion when they didnt give the goal to Lukaku i had him between my strikers but they give the goal to the defender so is no points for me.

I dont know why Uruguay didnt play with Araujo between his starters so i have to change him now and put other player in his place, is a bad take despite Uruguay allowing a goal since i was expecting to collect a clean sheet from him, now it remains my sout american players to save me in this round.

I'm currently watching Norway vs. Iraq and Haaland has already scored two goals. After his two goals I checked the lineups of the top 10 users in this fantasy league and every single one of them had Haaland in their squad. Most of them even have him either as their captain or 12th man.

Kai Havertz was the big captain differential pick for the round but sadly most owners in the pool didn't captain him.

I was close to having the perfect front line for this round; Halaand, Mbappe and Kai Havertz ( 12th Man)- I look stupid looking at some of my saved drafts now.

I really can't complain about Haaland's 2 goals and 1 assists for those who captained him simply because I have him as my 12th man, and it does make a successful deployment of my first chip, and if I had managed to him on my squad without the chip, there is no way I would have switched to him for my captain after the Mbappe's performance.

Meanwhile, Messi successfully mocked every single one of us who overlooked him in our teams, I'm sure it's only going to further compound the headache of how to select on 3 strikers with the amount of terrific options now available and firing on all cylinders.

Really good start of my two forward players, i have Haaland and Messi, Haaland as captain so x2 his points both of them could score one more goal for sure despite scoring 2 and 3 goals each one, both have more chances and Messi game was incredible, seems like he is like the wine the more older the better, is just crazy to see him still in this high level.
