6th place for now. I would have been really mad if it had ended like this. I have the same points as 5th place, but he had a better round. We're all very tightly packed, and it'll be fun to play the final two rounds of the World Cup.

In short formats like these 1 mistake is all it takes to ruin you - top 5 is the realistic aim now. I assume we'll all have the same 12 players from now on.

Same story here, I burned mine last round and didn't benefit from it, while holding it for this round would have boosted my score by 22 points, fortunately I am still there in the top 3. But yeah it definitely stinks missing out on maximizing the defensive shield, it would have made a big difference for both of us in the overall rankings. Kudos to the ones who managed to save and use it in the quarterfinals, well played! I just hope this won't cost me a shot at winning the tournament.

I think we are all pretty much square when it comes to the remaining chips, most of us are going to have a headache trying to decide which round to activate the max captain chip, knowing my usual luck with these things whichever round I decide the exact opposite of what I need will probably happen. I think I will be taking a few risks for the next round to regain the lead.

I'd say it wasn't a bad idea using it in the quarter finals, it was still one of the best time to use it but we were just unlucky; nobody expected England and Argentina to concede 2+ goals in those fixtures ( it was the only fixtures both teams performed badly defensively)

Kudos to those who waited and dodged the disaster - it came good for them and at the right time..

Both Semi and the final rounds have two fixtures ( 3rd place is counted as final round) - I've made my choice; it's a do or die now..

I keep making "technical" mistakes each round and already accumulated around 25 lost points due to missed captains, subs etc. These are all pure "click and do it on time moves" and not choices that could go either way. In this round i totally missed Argentina was playing same day as England and did not put Martinez in.
But yea, accumulated mistakes could cost me top 3, we will see.

It will be tight. There could still be some difference makers in the 2 final rounds, especially with picks in defence.

Well i just spend my last bullet, i ahve a very decent ammount of points and team in this last round but since i have to climb positions i decided to took out the captain arm band from Mbappe and give it to Messi, trying to grab some extra points, but all goes horrible wrong and Messi didnt score any goals and only had an assist, so it was GG for me.

5 FT now are needed since we lost half of the tems, but crowolf makes point that you don't need 6 in the final. We will still have same 4 teams playing. So looking at same logic it should be like 2 or 3 transfers in the final. 6 is way too much, we will be doing some luxury moves. But on the other hand those 6 transfers will allow for some interesting differential plays.

I actually think having six free transfers for the final makes sense, there are a couple of tactical scenarios where they will be needed.
For example, let's say a manager is confident that France and Argentina are going to win their semis, their squad is going to be loaded up with six players from Argentina, six from France and three from the other two nations. Then if they believe that Argentina will win the final and Spain will take the 3rd place match, they're going to need a few transfers to adjust, since the roster limit per team increases to 8 players in the final, they would need two transfers to max out at eight Argentina players and then another four transfers to pivot and load up on Spanish assets instead of French or English ones.

I agree that some managers with balanced squads might just end up making luxury moves and that most of us won't have to use all FTs, but having those six transfers opens up plenty of tactical pivots.

I had some of the same issues. I managed not to put the captain armband on Haaland in the first round, and in the second round, I managed to miss subbing Vinicius in on time. I also played the qualification booster late. All in all, it definitely cost me 25–30 points, and I'm angry about the rookie mistakes I made. But this is also the charm of this competition—you must play well from the start if you want to get rewards.

Yeah, 6FT for the final is for hunters. Not many differentials will be attractive though - with stars heavily dominating the championship it is really hard to go against them.

Will also be interesting to see in which round the best captain chip will be used. I'm more inclined to have a go now - but still haven't decided on anything. I assume we'll all wait for the lineups.

Since I'm trying to close the gap and make up some points on the leader, I knew I had to make a few differential moves, I took a gamble and decided to completely fade Spain and instead loaded up on the entire French attack.

Unfortunately watching the first half play out, it's already looking like I went with the wrong strategy while the leader nailed their setup with many Spanish players. The French team has looked flat so far, I need some more from them in the second half. Hopefully they can wake up and find their rhythm. I also need them to qualify for the final otherwise it’s going to ruin my BTB ranking at the same time. Just hoping for a massive turnaround.

France have not looked their usual brightest since Spain isn't giving a lot of chances to explode on counter attacks, my hands was pretty tied with regards to my transfers, I couldn't do major switches due to budget restrictions, so most of my transfers involved players from the England - Argentina match up, it's quite funny that one of my earlier moves was to take out Olise and Kane for Yamal and Oyarzabal to also help facilitate little defensive switches, eventually I thought Kane and Olise upside is better than that of Yamal - Oyarzabal, so far It seems I made the wrong call.

I made too many bad mistakes today and was penalized for it; I don't think there's any turning back now, given the horror France just experienced tonight. I honestly didn't think Spain would pass France; I sold Yamal and almost traded Cucurella for Kounde.

How the Spain defence made the best attack in the world looks like schoolboys isn't talked about much - who would have guessed that Spain would keep a clean sheet against Almighty France.
