Are there new other sportbooks in your area? I asked because as more betting agents are opening the shops in your area, customers from the old agents can start visiting the new agents shops.

Another thing you should consider is if it is weekend or during the weekdays. People prefer to gamble most during weekends or when there is Champions League. But this may not be it because you said the betting agent said people are no more coming.

In many areas, online is killing offline, like marketplaces killing shopping malls or just offline stores. Clearly, if a service can be provided online, most consumers will choose that option. Offline is reserved for activities that require live communication or where that communication is a significant part of the experience, such as attending a football game, where you experience the atmosphere but don't have the convenience of replays like you would with TV. Almost everything happens the same, physical casinos are no longer attractive since online casinos are rampant and easily accessible to anyone this makes physical casinos difficult to get players today, so saying that business is not profitable can be said to be true, unless it is in the city center and has many options besides sports betting, it can be an entertainment venue for people who like physical activities.

This is why businesses must find a way to evolve because that business you are in may just be replaced by another trend and it may offer more benefit to people that they may have it as a preference over your own business and it is normal, you will also do the same to another persons business. So if you fail in that aspect to evolve, you will be left behind.
Maybe local sports bookshop can find a way to make things interesting and still attract gamblers to come gamble even if on their smart, maybe offer free internet to gamblers, free game viewing when there are live matches, etc, just something innovative to keep them in business.

In Serbia, there are more casinos than ever before. I guess most of them are full casinos now... even little places have sports betting and a few slots, maybe electronic roulette, while bigger places have more slots and probably live games.  I think it's almost like there is at least one at every corner. After all, we live in the development and advancement of technology. Everything nowadays is done online, and offline sports betting shops are certainly the most affected at this time.

I don't know why you are surprised that fewer and fewer people use physical bookmakers when everything is available online in just a few clicks. In the very near future, many services that were provided in physical form will completely disappear.

Where are you from, maybe it has something to do with that. I know it is easier to gamble online now, so it would surely affect the traffic in real-life casinos, but it does not mean they are empty, at least not where i live. At least the local sports book in my place doesn't only operate offline, those physical shops are just agents shop but if you have a smart phone, you can still bet on that bookie using their website, so they are not actually unprofitable but rather the agents who opens the shop are the ones that doesn't get as much profits as before because the way those agents earn is by commission depending on the numbers of customers playing per day but if there's no much customers, it means that their income will the low. Booking is more convenient, than local sport book, it is also private because people won’t know how much you have been spending or how much you have lost.
Although local sport book shop isn’t scanty in my area because this local sport makes it convenient for their customers and attract them.

Frankly speaking, i can't remember the last time i went to a local sportsbook to gamble. I always gamble on my devices, if not on my cellphone, then on my laptop. However, how i can't really tell if local sportsbooks are still as beneficial as it used to be because the world has advance, and now almost everything can be done from home using your cell phone or your laptop.

Also, people now value privacy more, almost everybody wants to hide their real identity from other people. Perhaps i will contact one of my friends who owns a local sportsbook and ask him how the business is going, whether it is true that local sportsbook is no longer as rewarding as they used to be.

At least here in Brazil we don't have physical betting shops (or casinos), as they are prohibited
We only have online casinos and betting shops, and they need to be regulated.

If there were, I'm also sure that people would prefer to bet online, and the clientele of physical locations would be older people who might still prefer to go to the location and have receipts, or even for social reasons
