I think they have different market and those physical casinos are not trying to attract small time gamblers. Those places have regular costumers on which they regularly come in their venues, this is also the reason why their businesses are in hotels or places on which they know there are many rich people came, since they know they can lure those rich people to play on their casino.

Online casinos are sometimes offered not only for rich guys out there, but also with people have low income and this posses huge risk. Because people just need laptop or phone then they can gamble easily. But I don't also think physical casinos has been defeated now, maybe in future it will happen if they won't adopt because everything will became digital in future.

Most people now prefer online sportsbook to physical ones, but offline sportsbook in my area still records good patronage, in fact my friend just opened another branch of it in the next town which proves that there are still clients who prefers it. I will agree a bit with OP observations as they are for real. I have also noticed this too in my area. It is an urban area so we expect that the advent of online gambling has likely kicked the local sport's book out of market or making them not as profitable as they were before. If one can comfortably bet or play games with their phone online, what is the point going to a physical betting house which do not have much privacy.

Another thing I will say is this, location also varies. It can be said that the interest between your area and the OP area is different, this could be a factor why it is different, sometimes the interest of the environment can encourage to do it continuously, sometimes the store can be a place for them to gather with friends who are made into their routine activities not only to be used as a gambling place.

I guess that based on your environment. From where I stay, people are always in the local sportbook shop, even those it's not all of them that are gambling, at least 60 - 70% of them are gambling. For the fact that nowadays people are into gambling even shows that people are always in a local sportbook shop. Only few betting shops are scanty probably because low winning rate or just few people are living in around the place. Few other things can make people not to go to a local betting shops.
