In my city, all the bookmaker branches closed long ago, and pharmacies or other stores have taken their place. Casinos have gone online, and I think it's even more convenient for them and players because, as you said, everything is on their smartphones. My area had these stereotypes against gamblers. They assume that gambling is a waste of time and resources. This has made some people to begin to seek alternatives to physical gambling shops. The introduction of online gambling platforms made gambling more convenient and private.

Online gambling is also getting more attention because of the ease of payment. Sometimes one has to wait a long time before wins are paid out in physical casinos. In my town, it's not a sportsbook, but it is a horse racing place, where you go and bet on horse races and in that shop, there are always a bunch of people. Now, why would people go to a shop to bet on horse races when you can just sit at home and relax and bet from your phone or your pc? Because that dude made it into a "horse racing cafe".

This is not something we have seen that often before, I am sure it existed back in the day, or in other places, but not in my town. So people who love horse races, get together there, drink tea and coffee and whatever they want, on hot days maybe an ice lemonade or something. They watch the races on big screens together, chat together, bet together. Basically he created a place for those fans to get together and have fun.
