All your points are valid and they are one I completely agree with, though me myself have had a couple of serious loses to gambling in the past, but fortunately, I've never seen myself in a situation where I decided I will never gamble again, only to turn around and turn back later to continue gambling.

But I do know something who had been in this situation for quite a long time now, today, he will lose even the money he was supposed to buy food with and then regret it so badly that he will conclude that he will never gamble again, then, as from 3 days going to a month or some weeks, he will go back to the same gambling, a couple persons have tried telling him that what he is doing is a sign of addiction to gambling but he has always disagreed, claiming that he is not addicted and will never be addicted to gambling.

As for me myself, the way I have disciplined myself, if any day, I wake up and declare that I will no longer ever gamble again, then that will simply just be the end, I can't continue to gamble when ever I've promised myself to quit, not quitting is a serious sign of gambling addiction.

Dependence on gambling prevents the person from living normally in the real world; they start to see time dragging, and they can't concentrate on everything they do in the real world. The only time this becomes an issue is when the "I am done" was a result of them wanting to be permanently away from gambling, but yet return after a few months or a few weeks of taking that BREAK.

I could say I am done simply because I have experienced so many losses and just want to take some time off gambling to clear my mind, and then return, probably after a few months. That doesn't mean this is because I am coming back because I couldn't take the losses, or because I feel I have more control over my gambler though it might be true. Taking some time off from gambling will make you see things differently compared to someone who just keeps gambling nonstop for months or years.

Realistically speaking, even if these gamblers will experience massive wins in gambling, I don't think there'll come a time that they're done with gambling and will leave it for good. Win or loss, the fact that they can still fund gambling, they will never stop and consider done from it. Gamblers will only stop returning into gambling if they have no means to gamble, if they have no sufficient income that will support their gambling urge and passion.

So never expect that gamblers will never return even after a massive loss, just the thought of gambling can fuel their intense gambling desire to keep making money, and making more and more of it if possible.
