In my opinion the memory of winning doesn't stays longer when the loss is big. The loss always stays in the mind. This is what keeps a gambler pushed to comeback and gamble. I said this many time and i will say it again, gambling is not for everyone. Why? The reason is there some self awareness research everyone need to do before starting the journey of gambling, gambler need to understand the situation of their biological willpower, psychological, and environmental factors before proceducing in the journey of gambling because the reason gamblers return even after deciding to stop is triggered by chronic brain disorder, and dopamine which hijacks the brain's reward system to create thrills.
That's when gambler have the ability to control biological willpower, psychological, and environmental factors they can overcome the will of coming back

One also needs to take a look at the chemical side of it, though.
Gambling and betting can mess pretty much with one's brain chemistry and make gamblers to develop a soft chemical dependence and make them come for more once, twice, three times... Whatever it takes for them to get dopamine and thrill from their sessions.

Gambling addiction is like a going down a slide in slow motion, one does not notice when dopamine dependence has already messed with one's brain untill it has been already much damage done to one's life style.

Making that decision to quit gambling obviously due to gambling loses and maybe some other reasons, only for you to return back to It after a few days or possibly few weeks, what made you to return might not be about the thrill of winning alone, there are many people out there that have developed soft addiction for gambling without themselves knowing it, that is, watching how they gamble, you can't and won't see any sign of addiction but the moment they decide they wanna quit gambling, after quitting for a few days of weeks, they start missing gambling again so badly they can not hold themselves but to return.

If its about thrill of winning, don't forget that there are pain of loses as well, if a gambler who have decided to quit gambling because of too much loses, how do you really think thrill of winning alone can take that person back to the same gambling he stopped due to loses?
