I would say it is prejudice, because this perception about gambling worker is also addicted to gambling, coming from the people who you met or have them in your life but which doesn't represent the whole reality.

I had seen people who is running a gambling or casino never interested in gambling but all they are interested is how they can have more people to gamble their so they can make more revenue, I don't have the exact stats but based on the ones who run the casino this might be true.

It is rare to see those who work in a gambling shop not participate in gambling because that is the way of demonstrating love for their job. They probably have seen big winnings from players and that will block every losses and risk they would have seen in gambling. This could be individual differences. I had a discussion with a young boy who works in a casino and he was lamenting how he became addicted to gambling. So you are drawing conclusions how people working in gambling behave from a sample size of 1 people?

Reality is that some people love their work and never get bored of it, and some people get bored of it like in every job sector. Your friend just happens to not get bored doing it.

Also, women aren't immune to addiction. Where are you getting this information from?

Gambling was notoriously dominated by men in the past, and that's the reason there are still more gambling addicts in men from recent studies but those are far from your 99% numbers. And that gap is closing rapidly, because physically and psychologically women are as vulnerable to addiction as men.

People who work in casino place are even the one who gambles more that people who just play and go, because just as you said, they believe they have know the game and how it is being played for one to win. But, that's not the case, they forget that gambling can change its stats just for it to maintain its unpredictable nature. And also, this makes them to become addicted more easily and land them some troubles that they don't bargin for, as the game will control them, expect they divert and be in charge of their emotions to make things right.

People that sell the craziest substances makes money that takes an average person years before they make the half and this people life is in danger every day from the law enforcement and the people that they are in competition with but they still go back in there to compete for the market. This may not be related to gambling but it's a high end risk that people do to make money, this is what casinos do to sustain their business, money must be made regardless.

There many businesses that see risk and funny things everyday but you can never see them quit their job. Some people don't joke with their business even though the business can cost their life, they get in their and make what they can to make a living. The casino business takes huge money home everyday depending on how big the casino and how large is their customer based and most doesn't care about what the company goes through, it's the reality.

There have been many researches on this. All the researches that I have known about this and I think all the researches about it are concluding that those working at a gambling platforms are significantly having higher risks of gambling addiction. This is very true, but I do not know about women, I am speaking of both men and women.

Where I am from the users who work in the casino cannot gamble at the casino they work for. They can go to other establishments to gamble, but not allowed to gamble at their place of employment.

Honestly, it's boring watching all the action and not be a real big part of it. Guy sits there and loses $20000 and you get your $20 an hour + tips bored outta your mind, whereas if you are gambling and getting all that dopamine rushing to the brain as you are winning(or losing) and you feel all the excitement. 2 very different feelings.

Yes I agree, it is quite boring but this is also important for the casino because if their employees are engaged, this could hurt them badly because usually employees are having enough stuff for and control of many things, which needs good protection, but if they are involved in gambling, they can't handle this easily.

To see your type of friends are very rare, not that there are not people like that, but they gamble, even though its not regularly like the others, but with time they can get into gambling unless they discipline themselves very well, that's when they can avoid such temptation or better still, they can walk away from it before it destroyed them, because the pressure in gambling is much that one can hardly withstand it. That is why self-control is very good and one has to to stick to it for them to not to have any issues of any kind, whether emotional or financially.

Before I started gambling, I had a friend who worked at a physical gambling centre and back then, we all thought he had some kind of insider information because he also gambled, and unlike those patronising him, he had a higher win rate than them so we all thought he had a way of seeing results and then betting on them before the results were finally revealed.

I think you'd need to have a strong will or just hate how gamblers behave to not be able to gamble while working in a gambling centres.

When you are surrounded by gambling every day, constantly seeing people place bets, celebrate wins and chase losses, it can influence your own behavior over time. Take someone who works in a fast food restaurant. Even if they didn't eat much fast food before, being around it every day can make them consume it on a more regular basis. The same can happen with gambling workers. But I don't think it affects only men. Addiction can affect anyone, regardless of gender. The main issue is constant exposure and how well a person can control their habits and emotions around gambling.

You should know that gambling isn't something you just go after of just like that, it's somewhat of magnetic and glues the person who's kinda engaged excessively into it. I had a very good friend who stopped gambling work so he can get useful with his life. I think the environment exposes these guys a lot to unnecessary gambling risks and a lot of time wastage, so most at times they get tips from satisfied clients but only waste it gambling again, only few of them are actually saving money and getting useful, maybe only 4% of them
