It is about two legendary members that thought their insults on me is paining me but which is far from true because we are all just being on the internet. You can see what people posted on the thread including LoyceV.

We should also have freedom of speech on this local board instead of any post that is getting to that path to be moved to off topic or deleted.

What do you think guys?

The truth is that, you can't decide for the moderator which post to delete and which post to keep and they have an authority that makes almost all their decisions and actions unquestionable and as such, they can decide to make and remove rules at will.

This is a local board and I believe it is a good thing that moderator added that we should be polite and be too offensive to other because we ought to be one big family on here rather than wanting to offend and abuse ourselves on here, we should rather channel such energy into helping, directing, teaching and making the community and forum at large easier for ourselves.

Criticism isn't a bad one but most times it should be worth it.

Just so I’m sure I understand you correctly, you were offended  by comments made by others in the general board so you made a topic in meta suggesting that a new rule should be added to the forum rules and when you got backlash for it you decided it’s best the rules of the local board be changed as well. I decide to emphasize on this very part because this is final solution of this whole matter. Moreover, the point is that he can't control people's opinion about him, so the best he should have done to over all of this is not to take things always hard on himself, sometimes it's best to over look things else it will keep on eating you by the day.

And again, talking about moderators deleting posts and all of that, that's their job to keep things intact else the platform would have been pretty messed up I swear. I will advice y he really watch the way he's  going about some certain things so he wouldn't start having some unneccesary issues that he didn't plan for. Op you my guy and I really mean well for you, or perhaps if you think you're just so uncomfortable around some users then the ignore button is not just there for a fancy, make use of it and save yourself the stress.

Freedom of speech? We already have that in our LB and as some reply above said this rule by Igebotz is very great to keep the Local board coordinated and avoid any behavior that might bring divisions.

The moderator of a board has the right to decide which kinda post he thinks should remain on that board or which post aren’t worthy of being there, so the fact that the General Board doesn’t have that rule doesn’t make that rule here on our LB unnecessary.

The Rule is totally fine, we need to respect each other and try as much as possible to avoid personal attacks on anyone no matter our feuds against them.

This is an anonymous forum and I don't see a reason why we have to take what everybody says that we don't like very seriously, we are all entitled to our opinions. Remember that different characters are registered into this forum and you cannot just change people from being who they are, if you don't like a perticular poster just ignore the person. Personally I don't like to engage in unnecessary arguments with anybody that is not adding any values to my life, there are too many boards and topics in this forum and if you don't like one just move on to another.

Like some people will say in this forum we should develop a "thick skin" and accept criticism, afterall everything that is said in this forum doesn't go beyond this forum. Our lives doesn't revolve around bitcointalk forum, enter, read and make comments if you have to then exit.

My opinion about moderators is that since they have been empowered to moderate I think that we should allow them to do their work, we don't have to like all their methods.

As I said in the meta board, think less of what people say here, and anywhere online for that matter, it's not worth it. As for the politeness itself, mutual respect can't be undermined; it's civility, and no freedom of expression should eliminate moral virtue regardless of people's presence.

Well the duty of the moderator is to make sure the board is clean and safe from spammers and people who post garbage including those that use offensive word while communicating. There have been many thread or post delete which where not necessarily, some where just irrelevant thread or posts that doesn't add no value. Actually there is freedom of speech here but that doesn't gives us previlege or liberty to misbehave or act as we like, we must act maturedly and make here a better place for communication. Where there is no understanding, communication becomes a problem.

Yeah! I agree that there should be freedom of speech and not freedom of insults. If the general boards are toxic, we owe it to ourselves to create a conducive atmosphere for learning and growing in our LB and I like the fact that Igebotz is moderating bad netiquette here, our LB should be as friendly as possible, we wouldn't have gotten this far within a short while if we're busy throwing punches and insulting each other on a regular.

With that said, I think rule no. 2 is essential for keeping the sanity around here, you must not insult someone, instead criticize constructively. I've reported some posts that bred violence in the past and the Mod deleted them, I'm happy he did.

lastly OP, you need to ignore things and move on, I think also you refrain from creating similar threads on this topic, it could soon be considered spamming the same topic on different boards.

Everyone have freedom here on this forum and you are not being denied of such, make a quality post and show me why your post should be deleted or move to of topic, but whenever it post is constituting unnecessary arguments, spam or trolls, or even lack any content that is of relevance, we should expect action to be taken on such.

Additionally, talking about being polite, ideally no one is forcing respect on anyone, but you can earn such regard by what you post that makes meaningful sense, it won't also speak well if the entire forum is full of abusive/offensive posts, remember this is not the same platform like the random social media platforms we have, hence the need for moderation.

Most deleted threads must have been reported to the moderator, except the moderator be the first to see that, I want to believe that over 90% of deleted threads or post deserves such, hence some are moved to offtopic instead.

You actually made a good point, but I don't think that will really bring a solution to the problem if we constantly tell people to ignore offensive comments.  There are people who are more sensitive to criticism than others, and sometimes, the way we actually speak to people can actually prevent needless argumentations before they even begin.

For me, the real problem is not really about preventing someone from expressing his or her own opinion to a discussion.  In fact, some of the best discussions occur when members have different opinions, and both of them are very prepared to challenge and question each other's points of view. Where I think the problem will start, is if the focus suddenly shifts from the main topic to attacking the individual who is expressing the opinion.

I am perfectly fine if we strongly disagree on each others opinion while keeping the discussion productive and respectful. After all the role of a forum is to share ideas, learn from different perspectives and also help each other grow in knowledge.  So it is not actually a competition about who makes the most offensive comment.

Where there's no law, then anything just goes like that and that's the main reason why there are moderators both in the local board and the main board who stands to ensure that excecess are curbed and that people don't get to abuse the freedom of expression that's available on the forum.

A post that gets deleted or moved to off topic on the local board is certainly a low quality and if you find your post frequently moved to the office topic section of the board or forum, it only tells that you improve on the kind of post you bring to the forum.

As regards mannerism, it's unfortunate but I can still relate to that. Higher rank members tend to speak down on those that are still growing on the forum. If you feel attacked, just double up on your resilient and with time, same people you feel are being disrespectful will appreciate your membership in the forum.

For me I think that freedom of speech is very important but constructive discussion and respect are equally very important. You see people can disagree strongly to conversations without turning it into unnecessary attacks and insults. The forum will grow better if members feel free to express their different opinions while they still maintain basic respect. By doing so, discussions will focus more on arguments and ideas instead of personal disagreement.

Am glad you understood that everyone has freedom of speech on the internet which means that people can criticize and insult you but don't let it get to you. However, there is what is called constructive criticisms, it may come as an insult but if you pay attention you will learn something from it. When i was still a newbie in the forum, it was hell because it was just like my posts were being monitored, even when you create a thread that you only needed the opinion of others but some people will misinterpret it to be merit hunting but as time goes on i just understood that those criticisms were part of what made me stronger. There's a saying that don't feed a troll, so if you see that someone is consistently attacking and insulting you, just don't even reply them because if you do that they will still say more provocative words to you but when you keep ignoring them they will be tired.
