The statement is right friends, I myself have experienced it of course when gambling with the aim of having fun but that changes when I have managed to get a win that makes me think that I can still get an even bigger win, a mindset that changes like this makes me at the point of addiction and maybe not only me but some people here have experienced it too.

No one can continue to win while gambling, there will be some losses while there will be some winnings. But the illustration that you used is correct which can make some gamblers later turn gambling to a means of making money and which would be the start of losses for the person. I know of a guy that consecutively won 10x two times in gambling which made him to start using higher amount of money.

Using higher amount is a trap, especially if the decision is out of desire to chase bigger profits and not in line with your budget. Most people don't just get it and big losses always welcome them at the end of the tunnel. Most newbies in gambling have encountered this shift in mentality after some initial big wins and most have fallen victim to it, unless for those who had a good understanding of this mentality shift before engaging in gambling and avoided it at all costs.

The point is very clear, gamble is just for the fun and for entertainment purpose and that's the fact, for any gambler to start deviating from that into something else is simply because greed has stepped in. However, as a player that is wise and knows the implications of gambling out of greed then that should be the last thing on your mind even as you're in the game.

I know of a friend that was just gambling at the earlier stage , at first it was just to chill and whine away boring time. However, after experiencing series of winning streak, guess what, greed came in and you know what, this my guy in question put in more of his time and more resources into it which later didn't end him well. Today is broke and even finding it very difficult to feed, perhaps this is what he got as a result of his greed.

You've outlined everything well, I'll just add a few that I have from my observations. Typically, gambling is no longer just about having fun once things like bills get involved. Someone might need to pay their bills but doesn't have enough money. That's when they start thinking about ways to earn extra money & one quick way is through gambling.

This happens the most to people who don't have a source of income, to even maintain that fun aspect of gambling you still need a good source of income and the lowest you go on gambling the better you will feel if losses occurs.

The transition from gambling for fun into gambling for income coming from someone who is already used to fun part? Something is clearly wrong with that person's business or source of income.

When you start chasing after your losses it’s no more an entertainment for you it has become financial dependence, you have already said it with the scenario you painted, you try to get back all the money you have lost and when you keep doing that you keep losing more money.

It start with fun until they develop greed that they can make money from gambling. The way each gambler makes money from gambling is different and the approach is different too. When some gamblers start, they get so lucky with win, this gives them impression that they can make money from gambling and that's how they become gambling addict, they don't see gambling than making money, the motivation is money and the fun becomes nothing.

There are some gamblers that do get luck but I wouldn't called it just luck, some are bless when it comes to gambling, they could be addicted I can't say but this people make money from gambling and it's their primary source of income. The money they make from gambling is usually diverted to other business. This happens when a gambler takes gambling as a major source of income. For a gambler who has a stable job that pays a considerable amount,  it would be difficult to give gambling your entire time to the point that you begin to take it as financial dependence.

We all gambling for income because that is the purpose, but enjoying gambling also comes with that too so it does not becomes a lifestyle out of desperation. You are right, most people gamble with the hope of making money. I think if there was no money involved, it would not be so appealing. But not everyone gambles with the hope of making money. I think many influential people or celebrities gamble to enjoy gambling. It is a passion for the rich. But the number of such people is very small. I will like you to know that this people never come to gamble for fun rather they come for the money but hide under pretense as if they didn't come for the Money.  Just as many here in this forum claim to gamble for fun because almost everyone is saying thesame thing. In my own understanding, so far as it involve risking of money to make more money, it's not fun because money is involved. It's when greed starts to creep in because of winning. When you start winning, the motivation shifts to accumulating money because of your experience and strategies you think are good enough to make you money. You start to become greedy, and you want to make gambling a cash cow.
Since gambling is a game of uncertainty, you experience losses and try to better your strategies, and with this, it becomes a struggle to try to generate income from gambling, which will lead you to addiction and, in the end, losing everything.
