This one no be traditional advice, this no be a text book bitcoin advice, this is just my two cents, my own heartfelt opinion wey I one send to newbies wey still Dhey come up for their bitcoin journey.

Newbies to beginners(people wey don Dhey new but don already in the beginners phase of their journey) it is time to wake up and smell the coffee, that one na just an idiomatic expression to tell you to face your own reality, this na your own bitcoin journey so na your own reality, embrace it and work with or you work on it.

To face your reality for this your bitcoin journey you need to track your journey, bitcoin get many settings so by tracking your journey you go understand where your heat map has been more or less on the Bitcoin settings, you come this forum to learn bitcoin and this forum can help you track your bitcoin journey.


   How you go track this journey, you fit Dey ask for inside
1. Look for Wetin be your interest for bitcoin: wetin be that settings, area of bitcoin that intrigues you, that you engage and are engrossed in that when the conversation starts you Dey follow up with am

1(a) after you don find that area of bitcoin you are captivated by, track to know gon gon if you Dhey good for that Bitcoin area, no shame to unlearn bad knowledge and learn new one.

2. Look for that area of bitcoin you no Dey like near am: that bitcoin conversation wey you Dey jump over, e no Dey interesting to you and you never experience that area.

2(a) you can’t know what you Dey good at if you never try it out, after you have found that area you don’t touch, figure out why you do avoid it, invest like a week or two in learning it to see if it go atleast interest you, if it does keep on learning it have experience with it in real life that is you fit try using wetin you don learn. But if it doesn’t interest you no problem.


Tracking your bitcoin journey can
1. Identify, Refine and sharpen your favorite area of bitcoin
2. Identify, Build interest in areas of bitcoin you Dey jump over
3. Hoist your confidence up
4 become a well informed ambassador or teacher of bitcoin

Okayy you’ve given your two piece and they’re valid advices but coming here I was expecting to see more of; ways one can track their bitcoin journey just like the title says but it’s little to none in that regard.

Most of what you’ve written is how to improve on your bitcoin knowledge journey, which is fine. Tracking has to do with knowing how far and how well you’ve come and then knowing how to further or improve on it.

If you’re investing how much have you accumulated so far in BTC and not in dollar?
How effective and efficient have your investment strategy been?
What aspects of bitcoin is still unclear to you?

I understand what you mean, though. Bitcoin journey is not all about investment. Investment is part of it; so is trading, security, cryptography, and more to say. Most people are too pragmatic about bitcoin investment, following what they have learned in multiple threads about DCA and dips. Whereas there are better sides of Bitcoin that they are not focusing on, which is interesting to know.

It is good as an investor or a trader to track your journey in bitcoin in order to know the level of knowledge, experience, skills, progress, achievement, assets and discipline a trader or an investor have acquired.  It is all about checking the level of improvement and the impact of the decision and actions over a period of time. Keeping a track of bitcoin journey helps investors and traders to understand investment habit, improve the trading or investment strategies, evaluate and ascertain their performance over a given period of time and stays focused for long-term goal instead of chasing market hype.

There are ways through which an investor or a trader can track their bitcoin journey to ascertain the level of achievement, knowledge and experience they have acquired, this includes regular checking and review of the value of your holdings and trades, evaluating the level of information, knowledge and experience acquired over a given period of time. Calculate your average purchasing price if you are using DCA ( dollar cost average), regular monitoring of portfolio growth, keeping of investment and trade record and evaluation of the goal, achievement and target over a period of time.

The bitcoin journey of a trader and an investor is far more than the amount of assets acquired, but it encompasses the knowledge acquired, the mistakes you learn from,  the level of confidence you built, the investment and trading habits you built, the level of risk you have been able to manage and how you handle your emotions, and the level of achievement.

I also agree with this. So many newcomers want to absorb everything about Bitcoin at once and when they do that, they end up understanding nothing. Discovering the part that interests you naturally is key to a less frustrating and more engaging and structured  learning process.
The same thing applies to  the idea of unlearning information, some people are to proud to unlearn wrong information they have. A lot of us have entered the Bitcoin ecosystem believing things that came from social media, influencers or ill-informed friends. To progress within Bitcoin it's not simply about understanding new things, but unlearning the incorrect things we already believe we understand. By journaling you can recognise both how much you do know and how much you don't.

Don't know why I feel lost about your notion of tracking your bitcoin journey because in general, your journey in bitcoin should be either about you getting to learn about bitcoin or that you're investing in bitcoin. For either of this case, you don't need to try to look out for your area of interest. If you're learning about bitcoin, you just need to learn the basics and proceed to focusing on areas that protects your asset and that keeps you invested in the right way.

It's as simple as determining first of all, what brought you to the bitcoin space and afterwards set out the right structure that keeps you fully grounded. If you're in to invest, all you need to research on will be best investment strategy, security and ways to earn well. All this are at your finger tips on the forum.

Thanks for the pointers, actually I've always been interested in bitcoin core technical but it's overwhelming looking at where it's evolved to currently, tried reading mastering bitcoin and looking at some other cooler stuffs buh it's very challenging I must be honest. Maybe I should just take my learning curve easier on myself, like just maintaining the consistency in learning rather than being concerned with learning lots of things in a short while, maybe go on 6 months consistent learning streak at a slower and steady pattern so I can be able to understand these principles that scare me in the bitcoin learning curve.

Tracking your Bitcoin journey has its advantage like you can evaluate yourself and know if you're still in line with your aspirations about Bitcoin. The market is quite dynamic and there are a number of things that are happening in the market now that were not there from the time of Bitcoin creation. Example are the big institutions and the ETFs, countries holding Bitcoin as strategic reserves, these new inputs are centralized institutions that are holding a good amount of Bitcoin. I believe that there are some Bitcoin holders that will prefer Bitcoin to only be in the custody of retail investors and those that are holding it for payments and hedge against inflation.

No matter how you want your Bitcoin journey to be it doesn't change anything about it's originality like being a decentralized with finite supply.
