I dont think exchanges are longer experiencing such again..i think the reason why exchanges are been hacked that time, it's because they lack server security provider, now that many exchanges is upgraded in cyber security, you can see that it hardly before you can see an exchange been hacked they way it was before...now if exchanges detect a negative signal for their website...they will instruct all the users of the platform to regenerate another address and forget about the previous address...

For scam activities..that's why exchanges mandate every one in their platform to complete their KYC verification, so that they can know every of their customers...anyone that lost it coins through scam, it's through exchanges, it maybe through ponzi scheme platform and other investment platforms...
