All of these do not complicate things at all. Seedphrases makes it easier than dealing with raw wallet files. You can do without a hardware wallet, fullnodes were always around, you don't have to use coin control and you'll always have needed to manage your fees and secure your coins stored in self custody.

All BIPs that have been added over the years have been to make Bitcoin easier and less complicated and works that way. It is still as easy as "downloading a wallet, receiving bitcoins and then sending to someone without needing a bank".

Trust me it is easier than it sounds. Anyone who has the knowledge or is browsing the smartphone can do that after watching few minutes of a tutorial video of an hour of reading the necessary guides.

You no need to run your own node, but if you want complete privacy, then you should and one doesn't even need a self-custody wallet but if they want to control their bitcoin, then they should. Fee management isn't necessary either but if you want to save few dollars then learn to use the manual fee button.

Decentralization, choice of deciding your own fee, and complete control of your asset don't come easy.

Complication will only occur if they are not willing to learn because all who are here must be laymen first, so why is it that most who are here (who have been laymen) can understand and there are some who think it is still complicated. The answer is learning and research.

Everything of value cannot be taken the easy way so this will return to each point of view and qualifications whether or not you can see bitcoin as a valuable thing.

I started bitcoin even at the insistence of my closest person who suggested or rather forced me to learn bitcoin but the longer I was grateful when I was given the opportunity to learn this because even though at first it was quite difficult because some of it might be adaptation and introduction but the longer we will understand that the word complicated is actually an exaggeration.

What's there not to understand? Is it how to write out the seed phrase on paper and store it in a safe place, or is it how not to click on unsolicited links, or how to send and receive Bitcoin to correct Bitcoin address with little fees charged? All these process mentioned, are easier to operate on without issues encountered for someone who can make use of a gadget

Bitcoin today can still be traded by downloading a wallet, receive Bitcoin in it and send it to your preferred wallet. The common mistake newbies make is they just want to learn everything about Bitcoin the moment they're introduced to it. They want to understand how everything works, seeking every knowledge available even when they'll not have immediate impact. A newbie can use Bitcoin without knowing coin control, how to run a node or buying a hardware wallet.

The extra features exist for experts who want to go steps further to protect and control their assets. Bitcoin is still very much simple to learn and use as a newbie, it's when you knowledge it becomes bigger you can proceed to learning deeper concepts of security and management.

I once taught people older than me, even when they want to open their Android, they need their child's help to open it. He was motivated by what I got from Bitcoin, then he was confident and wanted to learn about Bitcoin and then he wanted to invest in it.

My way is simple, explaining that Bitcoin is very volatile and he is aware of it. After my explanation was understood, I immediately asked him to download the trusted local Exchange Application in my country.

At that very moment he was right in a bullish cycle in 2020 he bought it, I asked him to buy Bitcoin and hold it, after the end of 2021 the assets bought increased by about 800%.
Since then he has decided to quit the Crypto Industry, the proceeds of Bitcoin to be enjoyed in his retirement from the company where he works.

Sometimes learning about Bitcoin is not as complicated as it seems, it's just that we do need to understand more about it.

It's not that things are getting more complicated, it's that over the years questions have arisen about security, updates, hardware, different desktop or mobile wallets, and eventually, people talk about their security and use (depending on the user). I think the more something is discussed, the easier it is for the user to become familiar with the technology. Let me give you a clear example: an old mobile phone was only for calls and texts. Now, you make calls, have apps, listen to music, watch videos, edit content, do business, manage your health, all of this on one device. And what I ask you is, does this make smartphones more difficult to use or does it make your life easier?

Making it harder? How exactly? And how it should be easier? It would be near impossible to make idiot-proof system like in centralized systems, because with bitcoin, people need to accept their own responsibility when they store and use it. You would have to do that if you would store your fiat money or gold at home as well. Without understanding how to secure it, how could you keep it safe?

You can always trust third parties to keep it safe, just like you do with banks, but that takes away the very core freedom you have with bitcoin.

We have come a long way in +10 years in terms of wallets, usability and safety btw.

Nothing really changed, it has always been easy for any average person just like using fiat currency app. However, it would be more challenging part of an average person to completely understand the underlying technology and extreme volatility, and of course 24/7 security to ensure that your bitcoin stored in your wallet will remain safe no matter what.

There is no complicated part for any person who is willing to learn, and for any person who knows how to value every portion of bitcoin.

What the average person who has the interest of investing or adopting Bitcoin fears the most is the technicality involved. They think it is too complex because they view it from the outside without taking the first step to get into the system to get the understand and knowledge of it along the way.
They fail to understand that Bitcoin adoption isn't as complicated as it may seem, but the real complications start when such thoughts of how to begin to learn about it and waiting for the right time which never comes.

Once you take the bold step as a newbie to adopt Bitcoin, the rest comes easy and although it may take a while to become conversant and free to find your way around, that's why a community like this exist. That's why there are mentors in real life and that's why the Internet exist to answer and point you in the right direction. You just got to know how to read, write and understand proper English and basic tenses to get started.

Certainly no. In fact, it made easier for an average person to fully understand how bitcoin works, how to buy and sell, and transfer bitcoin. But of course, you know you wouldn't have to risk with bitcoin if you have no clear understanding on its technology, utmost security, and how to perform transactions because these are the very basic for someone who's into bitcoin.

Otherwise, having bitcoin in your wallet will put you at a higher risk of losing, either through scams or simple transactions, just because you never had the clear knowledge about bitcoin from the very beginning.

At the very beginning, Bitcoin was just an experimental project for hobbyists.  A computer-based wallet was just good enough because a couple of thousands of Bitcoins could buy a pizza.  But when the system gained momentum and its price increased enormously, the situation completely changed.

Todays complexity did not come as a result of any attempt from the developers to limit users access to the technology; it was due to the fact that malicious actors became incredibly sophisticated.  Since all Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, it became necessary to create a lot of armor.  However, this armor comes with some weight.

Is it, however, too difficult for the average person?  I do not think so.  Technology surrounds us everywhere, and it becomes simply unimaginable to live without it nowadays.  Yet, all these technologies were developing throughout the time and becoming more complicated.  For instance, think about how much simpler the mobile phones used to be twenty years ago than now.  There is no denying that they have become much more complicated.  Nevertheless, their user interface has become so sophisticated that users do not feel the complexity anymore.

Bitcoin is on the exact same evolutionary path.  Right now, we are still looking at the raw engine parts.  But as user interfaces catch up to the protocol, the average person wont need to understand how the cryptography works under the hood, they will just enjoy the security and freedom of using it, exactly like they do with the tech in their pockets today.

One of the original promises of bitcoin in it early days of development
Was to give ordinary users more easier control over there money
In it early days, the. Concept use to be as simple as downloading a wallet
recieving the bitcoin then sending it to someone without needing a bank
Today the bitcoin eco systems appears to be more complex  a new users need
to learn about things like seed phrase hardware wallet full nodes coin control
Fee management self custody security
Sometimes i begin to wonder if they are making it harder and complex for the
Average person. To adopt and easily understand?

We need to understand that life improves every day, many advance technologies are manufactured with apps that helps break through Bitcoin and steal used by hackers and the rest of them, so the longer Bitcoin stays the more need for secured apps needed to protect users. All average users should all follow the trends and be patient to learn about Bitcoin, with this understand it will be easy to understand, trade Bitcoin anywhere and time.

Why is it harder to learn Bitcoin? Even teenagers these days find it easier to learn because there are many educational videos on YouTube that explain Bitcoin, even in child-friendly language. There's also something called ChatGPT, which you can use to ask questions about anything you need to learn about Bitcoin. So, it's not about whether it's "difficult" or not, but about your willingness to learn. Because these things are even the basics of Bitcoin, and they aren't technical knowledge that requires deeper understanding. So, it can't be said that it's difficult for people, but it's about learning. Once you're willing to learn, it won't be difficult for you.

Bitcoin Core was previously known as Bitcoin-QT. When you install it on your PC, it will automatically generate a wallet; there is no option to save it as a seed phrase, even in Bitcoin Core. However, because security and backup are required, you will be responsible for copying the wallet file or extracting the private key from the wallet file using the command. It is just part of the security process; if you accidentally format your PC or it becomes corrupted, you will have those backups to recover your wallet in the future.
It's not as complicated as you might think because all of the guides are publicly available. Just like with Electrum, creating a wallet is simple, but you must write down the seed phrase separately from the PC to ensure you have a backup in case something unexpected happens to your wallet.

So, it can't be said that it's difficult for people, but it's about learning. Once you're willing to learn, it won't be difficult for you.

AI is not a good source to let him learn from the AI about this it might lead to an unsafe way to back up or give him misinformation to secure the wallet. Any of these AI are collecting data from us; you just help AI to improve itself and learn since it's still learning, so we should use it as a source of learning because it's not yet complete. We better ask this question here on the forum at least to lead them in the right direction.

The ease of using bitcoin remains, and may actually get easier as the protocol improves. What makes it difficult is that most people don't know where to start. Meanwhile, they don't have to apply and practice everything you mentioned, such as full node, hardware wallet, coin control. Learn and prioritize between practices that are mandatory or just optional

When has a bitcoiner not had to worry about their seed phrase and its security? These things you mention are not new things that were added later to Bitcoin; they are things that have always been there. People are just having a better understanding of it now. There is a reason why people misplace their seed phrase and lose their bitcoin more in the past than they do these days. Now people are getting better education on security. It's a good thing that more people are learning about this stuff, because more nodes enhance network security and preserve decentralisation.

Bitcoin is a complicated innovation, but it is not complicated to use. All you need is to know the basics like addresses, wallets, network fees, secret phrase/private keys and how to secure your secret phrase, wallet and device. You don't need to know about coin control, full node and other complicated things before you can use Bitcoin. Those are things that you learn along the way.

I kinda agree. When I first know about Bitcoin I only know how to create my wallet and send/receive money. I know nothing about coin control, seed phrase management, and whatnot. Sure, it can be risky if you don't know everything related to how to secure and manage your funds properly, but it's not like people would throw a billion into something they dont know at all to begin with. It amaze me that some people feel they need to know everything about Bitcoin before they own a single sat. It's not like you need to know how your bank manage your account and sync it with your phone before you actually start using them too. And as always, just read more.

It should be much easier because someone can use a smartphone for transaction needs and other things and what makes it difficult is not how to adopt it but the unwillingness to learn to understand it. For people who cannot use a smartphone, it may be difficult to understand this adoption, but with the sophistication of technology and smartphones continuing to develop, this should not be a reason for anyone to have difficulty doing so. Now children aged 10 years are able to operate smartphones and they are even much smarter at using these cellphones to play games or for other needs.

It should be simple when someone is willing to learn to understand it and when it comes to storing bitcoins in a safe way it is also not that difficult to learn. Depending on what someone wants and if they intend to learn, it shouldn't be difficult because there is a lot of learning that they can participate in, especially now that there are many sources that can be explored to understand a problem.
