In what way can gambling be called entertainment?

I know many people believe that gambling is a form of entertainment, but how exactly do we treat it as entertainment when in reality, we are spending money on it?

But in gambling, it is different because there is always that hope of winning, and once money is involved, some people stop seeing it as entertainment and start treating it like a way to earn, which can become risky.

So maybe gambling can only be called entertainment if we already accept that the money we use might be gone. Once we start chasing losses or expecting profit, then maybe it is no longer entertainment anymore.

Some people want to use gambling to make money, but not everyone are the same. Some people are using it for entertainment instead of using it to look for money. You can see very rich men, making millions from business and investments, but still gambling but they do not care about the losses because they are gambling with the money they can afford not lose.

In my case, I've always considered the money I deposit in the casino to be lost money. I think of it as money I use to go to the movies, eat pizza, or have a hamburger, especially since I've been betting around the price of a hamburger. This is a perfect way ti describe gambling as entertainment activity. When you gamble with funds you'll also use for other leisure activities, there's no way you'll regret if at the end you didn't win. The good thing with this kind of gambling habit is that you'll not be under pressure to win, which even increases your chances of winning. Those who consider gambling an entertainment never chase the losses because for them losses are part of the game and they even enjoy losses. This should be the case, any money you budget for gambling is as good as gone, there's no two ways about it if you win, it's fine and if you don't, it's still fine. That is why it is advised to budget what you can afford to loose and not what you'll continue chasing when it is gone. If gamblers can treat gambling like they do other forms of recreation like hanging out at the bar, cinema or going to the park, they would not be entertaining that mentality to recover what they lost, unless of course they went all in instead of using a budgeted sum for gambling.

You are trying to see it from your point of view, and that's where your logic fails. You need just practice empathy (to see it from someone else's point of view) to answer the question.
Entertainment is different for each people, so entertainment can be every kind of activity with every kind of result. Things you don't find entertaining can be entertaining to someone else.

Just like every activity can turn to nuisance to someone, that however doesn't mean it's nuisance to everyone.
