I think gambling is a form of entertainment but only when the amount. Wagered is within the player's budget and they are willing to accept the possibility of losing the amount wagered. Not every gambler sees gambling as entertaining ,some are doing it solely to win, it's not necessarily enjoyable to them but they are still gambling regardless.
When people talk about entertainment in gambling it's more of an adrenaline rush and in this case gambling is more of a stimulant, there aren't that many other activities that will give you the same feeling unless you want to attempt a life threatening stunt, if you are smart you can't get the same experience from gambling without putting your own life in danger.

Of course it can... gambling is still entertainment because winning & losing are part of the game, one doesn't exist without the other. Those who gamble and expect only to win are only going to get disappointed more times than others... because nobody wins all the time, in any game, especially in gambling games. So the real question is: are you enjoying the full experience (wins & losses), or are you just chasing wins and everything else is disappointment?

You're looking at this in a very narrow view. Why, just because the chance to win money is involved, should that suddenly rule something out as being a form of entertainment? I don't think it should, as entertainment is something that brings you joy which is the main reason that people do it. I don't think that losing is entertaining but it's part of the activity, it's like watching the boring parts of an otherwise great film or hitting a bad shot when you're golfing, you have to take the bad with the good. On point number 1, you definitely need to have self awareness and not overspend when gambling because it can turn into a problem unlike the other examples you give, as we all have finite money.

In my opinion, it probably depends on the perspective first, so someone who gambles is what kind of perspective if the goal is clear is victory. I get your point OP, when I am going to casino houses, thats my relaxation when I plan to have a non stress leisure activity. To be considered gambling as entertainment, for me its when you are playing and you are enjoying the thrill of winning or the suspense experience when doing it. I don't know what drugs are on these people that think they are being entertained when losing money as certainly there is nothing to be entertained when someone loses money. I am not talking personally as of course I get mad when I lose despite playing with very little money in a session but also about many streamers that I see they start their sessions with lots of money, they are completely relaxed and are drinking a Pepsi or energy drink during the session, in the end of the video when they have lost all of the money they surely don't look relaxed anymore and of course they are rightly irritated that this massive losing of money happened to them.
