Above are all the rules on our local board and there is no where that says we can’t discuss or create thread to talk about other crypto coin or token.

I want to ask can’t we discuss about other cryptocurrencies or token on our local board or we need to wait until we have AItcoin discussion sub board.
Mod I want you to make it clear concerning this so we will know our stand, because I wanted to introduce a token that some Nigerias are already investing on, in our local board and I don’t want it to be locked or taken to off topic.

I do not think altcoins discussion thread will be locked or moved to off-topic. Only what I noticed is that people on this local board are not posting about altcoins.

Well, thanks for bringing this up here for discussing (assuming your claim is true), then maybe the mod will have to look into this and clarify the community here.
Because personally, I am into altcoin investment as well, I hold bitcoin and I hold altcoins too, because like I mentioned in my comment on another thread, bitcoin is a good investment asset, and so also are some few selected altcoins too because whether we believe it or not, there are several opportunities, good opportunities available in the altcoin market but unfortunately for many of us, that mentality of "if it's not bitcoin, it's a shitcoin" is robbing us without we knowing it.

So I believe that altcoin discussion should be allowed in our local board since and because altcoins are also part of cryptocurrencies, people are making money investing in altcoins too as people are making money investing in bitcoin, I don't see any reason why altcoins and discussions related to it should be sidelined.

We do not have altcoin discussion sub-board yet and the main board is specifically for Bitcoin discussion ( this was the community arrangement) ; any other non-Bitcoin discussions that doesn't fit into the main board or Political sub-board goes into the general sub-board ( off topic)

If you discovered a locked atl discussion thread, it's because the OP attempted to bring it back to the main board after it had already been moved to the appropriate sub-boards or spam related

If you are creating an ANN for token/projects, post it on the appropriate sub-boards and add a disclaimer unless you're part of the team.

Read the rules again. Is there anywhere that says discussions should be done on Bitcoin? The answer is no. Meaning, judging by the rules, Bitcoin discussion threads should be marked as off-topic, but so far the forum is a Bitcoin community aside from everything else. Just because it is not stated in the rules, it doesnt mean some rules are not applicable. However, I will speak specifically on the thread that was moved to off-topic. The thread could house discussions that would lead to shit-posting, so the Mod has refused to allow that to happen.

I believe that there's a board for altcoins discussion even though, you can post about altcoins here but not promoting it. Maybe, that was why the mod did that. Even the Chamby token that you use as a reference is on Altcoin discussion board. Only a few local board will have these threads on their LB except the LB of the country where the token was created. If everyone comes up promoting the tokens, they're investing on, this LB might mislead newbies to divert from Bitcoin to shitcoins.

Including asking question about altcoins and also discussing about well known altcoins? I think this is too strict.

Although, just as I have posted above, I did not noticed Nigerians discussing much about altcoins which should not be a problem. But if the off-topic will be like that, will it not be good if theymos change it to general discussion? I remember that was what Brainboss proposed, but which we opposed because I did not know the rules will be strict up to moving altcoins discussion to off-topic. I am speaking just in my behave.

If everything will be on the main board if it is not about bitcoin and politics and society, you are not giving way to more boards creation on this local board because people do not like posting on off-topic.

In this case, maybe we have to request for an altcoin sub board so we can conveniently post and discuss altcoins in that section and perhaps an announcement sub board too so we post any opportunity that the Nigerian community should partake in. I also noticed that economics related topics still find it's way to the off-topic section, hence the need for it's own sub-board.

I believe we need 3 sub boards at the moment, Economics, altcoin discussion  and announcement. What is the modalities for requesting for them from Theymos or are you the person to make such requests on our behalf?

Honestly, off-topic sub-board is very important, some topics deserves to end up in that place. Some topics are just very disoriented that it should definitely go there, so I don't really think this is a great idea

Talking about asking theymos to change the off topic sub board to general sub board I don’t think it’s a great idea reason being that off topic is still very much needed for some thread that is not useful and meaningless to the society or community however except you have decided to take it upon yourself to delete such posts if that’s the case then changing the off topic to general sub board will be okay so we can now be having altcoin discussion and announcement over there.
Because requesting for 2 additional sub board may be difficult to get but if it’s possible and easy for theymos to give it to us which is a sub board for altcoin discussion and announcement, then it better we request for that at once, what do you think.

From what you quoted, I don't even see the rules that mentions you should only post about Bitcoin and avoid posting on altcoins, other rules that were being mentioned are well clarified, it is not about bitcoin or altcoins that should be considered here on the local board, you can bring a topic that is of interest regarding the economy or cryptocurrency in general, while there is a section already for politics and society discussions and that is the one that shouldn't be allowed on the main board because a section has already been created for it.

From my perspective you are not being genuinely interested in the altcoin discussion in the local board but your personal interest which you is probably a promotion of this particular token but however, this is not an altcoin forum which makes the main board kinda tied to only bitcoin discussion and other relevant issues, off topic logically is where altcoins could belongs since they are not political or society discussion.

Clearly, even this thread is only to your benefit and not the entirety of the local board, if there was someone else who tried to discuss altcoin and it got locked it would have been something else but here you only reference two threads which you are tied to.

Furthermore, this a merely shitcoins which obviously have no strong ground not even in the crypto world not the altcoin class so, if you basically are interested in promoting it or posting about it, the mod has the final decision to that and which clearly is not agreeing to.

And from my observations most times the altcoin threads are see in the local board which are not always allowed for minutes are more scam oriented threads by obviously new accounts. So if we have genuine altcoin discussion it could be considered not this.

For people who knows about other chains like Solana, Ethereum,TON and so on . What have you guys learnt about blockchain tech that Bitcoin is not doing ? Am not referring to investment, but rather about understanding how this very tech works.

Personal i think having to share this knowledge would help out in understanding Bitcoin much more better.

I don’t think there is any restriction of posts about altcoins, and I am not sure if what you are claiming is true about posts related to altcoins being deleted or taken to the off topic sections.

Even though this forum is a Bitcointalk forum, we have altcoins sections in the forum where altcoins are being discussed, them forum rules does not stop posts about altcoins same as the local board rules either, but the problem is from us, we prefer to write about Bitcoin here in the local board and we focus less on altcoins, but if you have good discussion on altcoins, you can bring it up here and we discussed it together.

No be say you no go fit discuss about altcoins for the main board but it depends on the information you are trying to convey. If you wan talk about a coin or token there's no problem with that but when you try to persuade people to invest in it that's where the problem comes. However, I see no need to even discuss about altcoins or tokens for the main local board when there's a general board for discussion about altcoins. Mind you, we should be very careful on the tokens or coins we are promoting because if peradventure it becomes a scam in the future you can get into problem and even receive red tag for promoting a scam coin. You can talk about altcoins but never you try to convince anyone to invest. This is a bitcoin discussion forum, our discussion should be bitcoin related but those that has to do with altcoin discussion should be at the altcoins discussion board.

Op your misunderstanding of how the local board treats altcoins topics was probably caused by seeing some threads that were locked or moved and then you assumed altcoins discussion were prohibited. From what @Igebotz  who's the mod explained, it's looks more like moving discussions to the appropriate board rather than outrightly restricting them. It's good that you sought for for clarity and has gotten it, this will also provide the answer to members who also have the same impression like you.

Well, mod has given an insight on it. So far, we are yet to have the altcoins board and so we have to make do with what we have.

But more importantly, altcoins discussion has a way of getting people attracted to "quick money" and if it is allowed into the main board, we are going to have clusters of it and by then, the focus of bitcoin discussion will be limited and derailed.

Good question that is why our LB is there to put us through and make corrections so that we just don't go out straight to the GB and make mistakes.

Our main focus on this forum is bitcoin and should remain that way if not a lot of persons will be confused and see the platform as being unserious scam.
