Well I would not blame much on this narrative,but looking at the whole story it seems the holder of this Bitcoin who happen to be intercept the set of person consider to fraud and feeling insecure is not securing himself and his holding properly in my opinion stand to be corrected , no hold of Bitcoin that don't first study it's environment security and behavior of the society towards those they Sense to possessed good numbers of Bitcoin or crypto asset, to be moving along with your garjet that contains your assets to me is careless, I don't know if the person is trading to inside vehicle or accessing his profile because security can't be checking all and having all the time to access your details with your pin and others but since it's center on security one really need enhanced more on this because anything can happen in a lawless society.

OP, your cousin isn't a smart person at all, why did he download trust wallet and move the bitcoin in the trust wallet? Is he saying that the hardware wallet is now useless because the next thing to do is reset the hardware wallet and create a new one, and move the bitcoin back into the hardware wallet.

He is very lucky because it's obvious that those police don't know what a hardware wallet looks like, it's either he send all the bitcoin to the police or they shoot him on that spot, one of these two would have happened if he met the wrong or bad police, he is very lucky, forget recovery seed, they will force you to send all that bitcoin away from the hardware wallet.

I wouldn't hold anyone for keeping their coins safe in anyway they feel it's best, it's a good thing that this OPs friend react very fast like that, even if it was possible that those cops have their ways of extraing recovery seed he have just escaped the hack already, don't blame him for reacting that fast even though it's clear that they don't understand the hardware wallet. Since this person's bitcoin remains intact it's all well and good, people should focus on learning from what this person did, if that wallet isn't a hardware wallet maybe people will be praising that person, anyways, he reacted correctly and I like that.

That's right, somethings don't need one to get to  a comfortable place before they do the right thing, assuming he didn't react correctly, he won't have un- lose his coins and mistakes like this, that most people do fall for and they might not be as lucky as this guy, so people should be aware of the kind of wallet they can use that will keep their funds safe, because when something bad happens, especially if it involves their funds, they will be so pressured that they can even act rational and still make mistakes while doing the needful, people can help themselves by avoiding getting to a situation like this before taking the right step.

The lucky guy was able to transfer his Bitcoin from his hardware wallet to his trust wallet very quickly. In fact, he should have left his hardware wallet at home and gone out. If he had left it at home and gone out, then maybe the guy would not have faced such danger. Imagine if the guy could not transfer his Bitcoin in a moment, then maybe his Bitcoin would have been seized by the police or if the guy had made a mistake while doing something in a hurry, then maybe his Bitcoin would have been lost, then he would have been unable to compensate for this mistake in any way. Something happened to my cousin yesterday, some cop stopped him on his way coming to my house.

He had his hardware wallet on him and they forced him to unlock it.
That one thing that hardware wallet does right is the ability to not show balance straight up.

But after he unlocked the hardware wallet the cop guy takes a few step away and keep pressing the hardware wallet, and they found nothing but my cousin noticed that they have camera on them.

After the cop left he instantly installed trust wallet on his phone and move all his fund from the hardware wallet to the trust wallet, I asked him why and he said what if the camera on them captured his recovery seed already? What if they step away from him to get the recovery seed captured?

It was when it all makes sense to me, it is possible that after they drove off they will try to drain the wallet, he doesn't wait to get to my place before he moved all the bitcoin out to a hot wallet.

A few minutes wasted could turned into a horrible event, I liked that he doesn't waste any time.

Dang, that is insane! What country do you live in OP? This is a great reminder to keep your hardware SAFE! Store in a cool dry place under lock and surveillance and do not allow access to anyone except a trustee

I don't see what your friend did as an act of smartness. If he was smart, he would have known that carrying his hardware wallet around was a big risk, especially since he had no urgent need to transact. That was his first mistake, and if anything had happened to his coins, he should hold himself responsible.

Although he may have done the right thing by moving his funds quickly after suspecting that his wallet had been compromised, this would not have happened if he had not been carrying the device around.

It didn't end there. He quickly downloaded another hot wallet in a panic just so he could transfer his bitcoins out immediately. That was not a wise decision. As a Bitcoiner, you should avoid anything that puts you under pressure. Simple security and safety checks that are ignored can pose a greater risk than the one he was trying to escape from with the cops.

That's true, storing in a hardware wallet should mean that he's holding for long-term not just the 4 years cycle but something beyond that like 10 years or more so there's no point carrying a hardware wallet when he's going to visit a relative in same city if am not mistaken, that's the first mistake he made.
 Secondly, he was able to unlock it for the authorities, which means there's a possibility that he saved it online or somewhere in his phone, that's another error if he saved it online. Let's say he was smart enough to take note of the camera and wonder if they had copied his seed phrase with it, he shouldn't have transferred it to Trustwallet but Electrum.

Not only that. Anyone who's into Bitcoin needs to be very smart because the fundamental concept of BTC is built on a trustless system, and we need to be very smart when doing transactions or safely keeping our BTC.

Honestly, your cousin really messed up since you seem to come from a country that has a high level of insecurity, but your cousin chose to have his hardware wallet on himself outdoors, which is something that is generally not the best security advice, even in a country with a high level of security.

This is another human error, and whatever you do in the future, do not use Trust Wallet for security purposes because it is not worth the trust. Besides, the wallet ought to be named UnTrust wallet.

The best thing is that those who install wallets on mobile phones should be extremely aware and should never install wallets on mobile phones. There are incidents in my country where nowadays police officers know a lot about crypto currencies and if they confiscate someone's phone at any time, they can access the wallet and seize the bitcoins and steal them. Therefore, they should avoid storing the phrases in the mobile phone and not install wallets on the mobile phone as much as possible.
