I hope that you are trying to say that there is no corruption there as in this specific case which is accurate. If you are saying that there is no corruption in FIFA, then you are wrong because FIFA is extremely corrupt. There have been many big cases that were reported in the last decade alone in public, and many more cases that were private. So while they may have not done anything in this case here, they are still quite corrupt. Just because we follow some things and we like them such as this World Cup, we must refrain from being biased and believing that there is no corruption in general because we would like there to be none.

It is all of what you have written combined with what this user wrote. Curaçao performed excellently and with the increased number of teams this presented a golden mix for this country to the point that they managed to play in the World Cup. Why should we be surprised in a negative way that a small country managed this? I find the response from the posted of this thread very strange. This is something to be celebrated, and actually if there are some big countries that failed to qualify they should be ashamed for their failures instead.

Judging from what mikel_012 posted, it seems like it has nothing to do with corruption, and it sounds like they deserved to be there. With FIFA increasing the number of teams being able to compete in the World Cup, it is not surprising to see new countries qualify for the World Cup.

Most of their players are Dutch players who weren't so lucky to be a part of any team, as long as either of their parents of grandparents were from Curaçao then they were legally allowed to play for the country, it's a loophole they were able to exploit and there was nothing FIFA could do about it, best to just let them play and see how they perform , their presence in the world cup brings a new kind of spontaneous to the game and should make it more interesting overall.

We shouldn't be surprised by all of this, FIFA increased the team quota since 2026 WC, it gave teams that previously had difficulty competing a chance & Curacao made that opportunity a reality.

Then, they were actually in a tough group in their zone, with Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica as well. So after the increment in the numbers of participating team from 32 teams to 48, you're telling me that if a particular nation passes through the qualification stage and happens to qualify, they shouldn't be part of the other participating teams just because they are not football nations? It doesn't make that much of a sense to me in this criticism, they played and qualified and should be in the tournament just as every other nations that qualified. It's the world cup and it's for the whole not specific to a particular region or a selected geographical area. They qualified, so they took deserve to be there even though we all know they are no match for the elite teams.

OP, I seem not to understand your motive for this thread, though, but if I may ask you, is Curacao not a nation? Do they not have the right to play and qualify for the World Cup? Or are you saying that they do not have what it takes as a small nation to participate in the World Cup? FIFA increased the slots to 48, and that gave room for more nations to try their luck, which they did, and they merited to be live participating in the World Cup tournament. My country couldn't qualify for the World Cup, but there's a big difference between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF. Obviously, it's much easier to qualify for CONCACAF. There are countries that don't have much of a football history, like Curaçao, but Curaçao did what Costa Rica and other Central American countries that have gone to the World Cup didn't. This was an interesting year because North American countries qualified automatically by being hosts. So USA Mexico and Canada were out of competition. Then also you have to consider that middle America countries and the Carribbean don't have a huge tradition with football like south American countries do. So the competition isn't high.

Curacao managed to qualify on merit which is very nice for them. Unlucky for them they're placed in a very competitive group so they have very low chances of qualification. But it's going to be an experience for the whole country nevertheless. I don't think FIFA favoured them at all. Even if the group draws are not fair it did not favour Curacao. Only they were favoured by the fact that there were three host nations in their region qualifying automatically so they had better chances at the qualification group stages.

Which is why smaller countries Uzbekistan and Cape Verde got their own shots at the world cup.
