It's because who doesn't want to feel that win? It's just a normal human behaviour to go and chase for more wins as much as we can. But the thing is that we don't look at our losses, all we remember is our big win. But if someone will have to account for everything, it might be that we are still in the negative side of it?

And with that, I don't think that gamblers learn from our losses. All we wanted to is to comeback again and either we win it back or not. So for me, even if we say that we might have learn something out of our losses, still though, we are going to find a way to recover and so we forget all the discipline that we preach.

This is quite an accurate observation, but we also need to look at the matter from a different angle. In my opinion, gamblers are people who always do the same things but expect different results. Gambling has certain rules, and if you don't follow them in a disciplined manner, you will always end up on the losing side at the end of the day. And gamblers, most of the time, can never make it to the winning side.

It depends on the gambler, I said so because if you're a gambler that already know that you can lose at anytime despite how careful you are you'll bet with what you can aford and once you lose it you will not feel bad as such, but if you're such a gambler that thinks that gambling is and easy way for you to get wealthy, you'll be welcome to reality if you lose much, that's when you will have a different understanding about gambling, at that point if you have heard that winning is not guaranteed before and you decide to pay deaf ears to it, your experience will now make you understand that what you were told is true and nothing but the truth.

And there are others that learn a very valuable lesson after losing badly. If I don't need a bankroll, I don't focus on it but I have a plan in place to know what my limits are. When I'm winning, I don't worry about my bankroll, but if I'm losing, I mentally prepare myself to stop before I cross the limit.

The biggest losers among gamblers are those who can't stop gambling at a certain point. For example if they have won multiple times while gambling, that's the ideal time to stop.

Even if you can stop gambling after losing several times, you can still reduce your losses. Only if you can maintain proper fund management while gambling, you can avoid crossing the limit.

You are not far from the truth. When a gambler is winning, he would be thinking that everything is is alright and he is the master of gambling and he can win all and he would not follow any discipline and only interested in gambling and winning but the moment he loses like 5+ streak times, boom, lesson learned. Well, one thing for sure is that I got burnt before I finally resolved that I wasn't going to be gambling for money anymore but for fun, and amazingly, I come to enjoy gambling much more now than when I used to gamble for no other reason other than to win money.

So honestly, you are very right, because as long as its humans we are talking about, there are some lessons a human can never learn until he or she is forced to learn that same lesson the hard way..
Some humans are like goats, you chase them out of something, they return back there again in a few minutes later, and until they get hurt badly by that thing, they may not stop going back to that thing they are being chased away from.
This is why it is commonly said that experience is the best teacher, some people can never learn to agree to something until experience teaches them to.

Gambling itself is not a problem, in fact, everyone gets into trouble because of their decisions. The attitude of trying again or thinking that a loss will come back leads to big losses. It's not happening to me. You don't need to burn yourself to before you can gambling responsibly. It's only for those who can't be discipline need to be burned first before they learn if they're doing it wrong.

Are you saying that those who follow the rules in gambling strictly always win? because winning is never assured in gambling whether you follow rules or not.

I think we maybe should just adjust our mindset on gambling and know We're trying to have fun even though we expect the win than just trying to win alone, you should also practice discipline in gambling by sticking to personal rules because you truly win in gambling when you can follow the rules you have set for yourself.

At certain moments, I also experienced that. But it's not a big regret. Because I really try not to go beyond my limits.

I think when we gamble we should know the consequences, so when we play we can be a little loose and have fun in gambling. Although sometimes the advice given by others and our own experiences are usually sometimes we cannot control it well, and usually sometimes we are carried away by the atmosphere of the big opportunities of the game which makes us lose control in the game, so the advice or foundation that we hold by ourselves, sometimes does not work as we want even though we have applied various types of strategies, both controlling when betting.

I completely agree with you OP, I am a former addicted gambler too and what you said is absolutely true that most gamblers will only take limits seriously when they feel the pain, for example like a happy winning situation they feel great and confident and also ignore the limit to stop, and when the amount of money starts to run out then they start to get anxious, trying to chase the lost money but the game continues to go badly and when all the money is gone that's when they clearly remember the limits, like thinking "I should have stopped earlier", all that is left is regret but strangely it keeps repeating.

Those gamblers who learn and stop gambling after losing are those who are not yet addicted to gamble but the set of people that go back to continue gambling after losing do that because they can't overcome the urge to gamble because they lack self discipline to control themselves and the urge to gamble. whether you are a beginner or a pro in gambling once you can't control yourself after losing you will still go back to gamble.

What you have said here is not different from the truth. Majority of the gamblers today once had such experience including myself where you gamble and loss, you win and you keep playing to win more or to recover what you have list and you claim to be disciplined while gambling but at some point in your gambling life, you realise that all you have been doing are just a sign of one who is addicted to gambling because there is no way that you will loose games and still continue with the mindset of recovering all which is not possible but rather you keep losing the more. As for me, yes, I have already had the experience myself, I lacked discipline when I newly started gambling, I was even being persistent, hoping that I must win a huge amount and despite the losses then, I just saw it that it was a price I was paying for the big win that awaits me but I was wrong, I was just so delusional then and lacked discipline, but I learned the better way after spending many years and yet I never had the breakthrough I thought I would have from gambling.

Yes, it has actually happened to me and to many others I have seen when they were newbies within the world of casinos and bookies.
What you have observed is common, not only in gambling but also in many branches of life.
People only tend to learn when the lesson hurts, so they are careful in the future.

It is said that people only learn when they get hurt, and that is the case because defeat is a better teacher than victory. Nobody seems to care about self-reflection when they are having a good luck streak and money pours in and pours in indefinitely.

loss chase can't let players know or understand how far they've gone in losing their money, losing blindfolds gamblers into a certain kind of trust that all the lost money would have to be retained on the long run, which places the gamblers in a very bad emotional shape that never allow the consciousness of learning to discipline themself.
