I agree because dopamine is something we cannot fully prevent or control due to how it was hardwired with brain reaction, which also has to do with the game thrills, but understanding our gambling psychology will give us the chance to know how to respond to it, and the gamblers that know how to respond to it are those that work away when luck streak is not in their favor.

Those lots that keep going know they are destroying themselves but they don't give a fuck about it because they are addicted and want to win by everything possible. No person enjoy loosing and I also don't think that any addicted person will see lose as a normal thing. Disagree about dealing with emotions how? I literally just described what's a healthy way to deal with emotions, and that starts by recognizing and accepting that they exist. Ignoring, suppressing or trying to not feel them just increases their power over you. This applies not only to gamblers, but in any situation. Any fellow psychologist would agree with me.

Sometimes people need to lose or fail to get experience or learn. Some really need it have bad way to become better. In gambling this works also, but this is very situational. I do believe that gambler need to lose to learn discipline or to understand value of money. If gambler will only be winning, he can get "drunk" with his success, become more relax or blind at taking decisions, all that could lead to a bigger problem and addiction.
