Are merit source assigned to a particular board.

Those who are merit sources distribute merit more in the boards where they are more active and post, but they do not distribute merit in the boards where they do not post because they are not interested in those topics. However, since there are different boards in this forum and it is created from the forum, of course merit distribution is necessary for good posts in each board. But these topics are not seen in places like Economics, Trading Discussion, Altcoin Discussion, Trading Discussion, Politics. It is not that merit is not given in these, but it is given in a much smaller amount. So, of course, you should keep an eye on these boards. Although I myself do not post on politics because I am not interested in political debates, there are some posts here that deserve merit.

Rephrase it  as  "they distribute more merit to board where they are more active", they don't need to  be actively posting/ post in  such boards just  to distribute merit  there .

There are good topics /post in Trading discussion  and Altcoin discussion even though I do not often visit altcoin that much but i still visit  and post there, I can confirm there are quality post and thread there. I've seen alot of quality post from =OmegaStarScream (among others ). The problem with those boards are the irrelevant ones overshadowing the good ones so youare still right on how merit is being distributed over there.

I agree with you that there are some good posts that are merit worthy. However, as you said, if the merit sources does not visit those threads, they won't be able to see those posts. I assume majority of the merit sources do not like political discussions as well, which is why they do not read those posts. As a result, there are less merit distributions in those boards. The good thing is, there are some threads where you can report good posts to be merited.

If you thing there are some posts/topics that deserve merit, you can always collect the link and post in those threads to get them merited. I actually don't care much about merits anymore, which is why I do not report either.

From the applications I have seen, I noticed that members who applied for the merit source position stated the various boards they intended to merit, and the majority of them are for local boards that Theymos approved, and also Theymos, in one of his posts, stated that he would like to get local board merit source so I think he was specific in that area which prompted the local boards members to apply on behalf of their local board and he approved them as merit source. So in this case, he assigned them according to their applications, which he had approved by making them merit sources for their local board.

So does the forum management assign merit source to a particular board or not?

I don’t think the forum management assign merit source to a particular board,most cases their merit allocation isn’t big enough to spread merits across different boards.The reason I said that the merit isn’t restricted to a particular board is the fact that I have been merited severally in my local board by users who aren’t members of my local board and they are merit source.Actually,most merit source create their merit application thread in a particular board  especially in their local board or general board but that doesn’t stop them from sharing their merits to quality posts aside their local board.So from my own point of view,merits are given to quality posts that are worth meriting and not restricted to a particular board.

If you say the merit source distribute merit to board that they are more active I'd like to ask, do you mean that the gambling board no merit source(s) are assigned to that board? I'm asking because we hardly see a merit source going there to merit post of members because I know we have good posters there in as much as many see that section of this Forum as a spamming area, yes there are still good post that deserves merits, so if you say merit source are active in some board that's where they are frequent with then the gambling board is a no go area for them, is like that part of the Forum is a forbidden area for all merit source...but we do have one in that section (I think), do we?

Merit sources are not limited to a particular board, but it is necessary that most of their allocations goes into the board which they were assigned for as merit source, what's more important is that merits are spread across quality posts.

I don't remember any case merit source got punished for mainly sending merit outside board they mentioned on their application. So IMO word "expected" is more appropiate than "necessary".

And why bitcoin discussion and economic boards lack enough merit distribution, is because merit sources consider those sections are full of spam so finding good ones might be rare and even most of them ignore those board.

Not only that, Bitcoin Discussion also contain some thread that is probably more suitable on other board. Few example from page 1,
bitcoin vs real estate probably better on Economics
They might begin bitcoin mining death spiral fud again after this news probably better on Mining
Can peace news really make Bitcoin bounce back? probably better on Speculation

User such as CTO114 frequently create generic thread, mostly on this board. His profile page shows he create 161 thread and reply, but if you click "Show the last topics started by this person.", you would find out he create 134 thread. I don't bother report any of those, so i expect most user have same attitude.

theymos asked me to be a merit source.

and i post merits in many areas.

but mining is dying due to eth going pos and btc running out of coins to mine.

so my new threads and posts and merits in mining has dropped like mad.

so much repetition occurs because btc is older now.  so less is new to talk about.

my software skills are meh so software posting and merits giving on my part is low.

I speak english so other languages is low for me to post.

although i do some nigerian merits and german merits.

as i can read a bit on those boards.

some gear talk and merits posted when discussing how to run and setup nodes as I am well versed on that.

but frankly for me i did tons of mining work merits posts builds reviews and all of that is winding down for me.

This is the same reason i corrected the other phrase but you don’t  seem to get it yet , Do you?

Vapourminer is a good example, he barely   post  much outside Speculation specifically WO  although,  i think he used to have more post on minning boards. Yet, he's  distributing merit everywhere and you can tell he is more active on meta even  though he doesn’t post there everytime.

Gambling boards are facing same issue  as Altcoin and Trading, because of high spam rate there, it  gets  so hard to find quality ones because  they are already overshadowed by the spammers posts.

Anyone who will really take the job have to deal with hudreds of headache provoking posts before finding few post to merit , I'm not sure there are too many source that can endure that so they just merit a quality thread instead. I'm  sure you've seen JulienOlympic merit some of these  threads ,(the quality ones), there're other two active source thee but I can't  really recall their username , they don't merit that much posts there though.

BTW, Merit source aren't assigned to a board, they choose to send more to a or some particular boards. I stand to be corrected
