Influencers always make things extraordinary way to attract people. Things that are not possible they can make it possible for the people to react to it faster. And those who are eager to make money see those things, they will be motivated to use those casinos. Either they end up losing or scammed. In my country, I see those ads in Truecaller and Banking apps more.

Some countries even ban social media for minors, for example in Australia, social media is banned for those 16 years old and below.

So if they made that law, that means they see the risk for minors on social media if they are given full freedom, and that includes gambling since promoters are usually vloggers, even those vloggers who focus on gaming. So it is something the government must do, and if they will not do that, it simply means they do not want to protect the public, especially the children.

I just want to share this news and ask for your opinion because I do not really see gambling advertisements being regulated well in our country.

Maybe for legitimate TV ads, they pass through the right process first before they are shown, but when it comes to vloggers and social media influencers, I do not think there is enough regulation there.

Some of them even encourage gamblers to play and sign up using their links, making it look like people can easily win if they join through them, and until now I think this is still happening. In this news, one man reportedly lost around £80,000 because of gambling debt, and now he is asking for more control over gambling advertisements, especially during big sports events like the World Cup.

Quote
A man who ran up about £80,000 of gambling debt is calling for more to be done around gambling advertisements, amid coverage of the football World Cup.

I think that one of the biggest problems we should be facing with in the hands of all this young generation youtuber's just imagine how a 30s Tv spot get reviewed so many time by bigger authorities before dropping it on air back then.

But unlike of now you see how a Young YouTuber can just drop an affiliate link in designer or ads saying that Winner for bonuses and because of their are influencers they have lot of community which they might mislead.

UK’s already tightening. Whistle to whistle ban on TV/radio betting ads during live sport before 9pm.But social media/influencers weren’t covered the same way. That’s what people are asking to fix now.

Okay For my own perspective what do you say or think about this  platforms like TikTok/YouTube should be fined directly when their creators break gambling ad rules? Because the influencers are paying this  platform to keep thise ads there.

Good luck and always wish your self the best

Anybody can be an influencer on social media which makes it difficult for government to regulate these social media ads from influencers promoting these casinos. I could remember when a we had something like that here in the forum for anyone who's interested to promote a casino video on social media. My country government don't care about these social media ads.

can social media influencers really not be regulated
I think it's very possible to regulate them. They'll stop doing that when the government puts a penalty to whoever is found to be advertising gambling ads.

The regulation should include to the right and legal ages where it can be shown.

If they're tough and not following the regulations, they have to pay the penalties that will be put into them.

Before you beginning to talk about social media influencer being regulated, the man that lost €800000 was not forced into gambling by anyone especially the amount he used. The decision was entirely his and don't forget what you are talking about here is social media. The man lack self discipline and this is the root cause of his problem and not social media influencer. This is an adult we are talking about here that can tell between good and bad . The man is to be blame and not social media influencer

In my country, the regulations regarding gambling marketing are so strict that people who promote gambling content and anything related to it will face severe penalties, including imprisonment. Because the regulations on gambling here are so strict, anyone involved in gambling will face severe punishment—and social media platforms are also required to restrict content related to gambling and any discussion of the topic through strict censorship. This is intended to minimize the impact of gambling on people who are particularly vulnerable to it.

There is no control over gambling advertisements on social media in our country. In most cases, they are running advertisements with 18+ banners as they wish. And there is no one to control them.

Ordinary advertisements can be understood as advertising their organization. But if an influencer praises a gambling site in front of his own followers and asks them to use his registration link, or if he only shows a part of the winnings, then his audience may consider it an impartial opinion. But in reality, there may be a commission or financial interest behind his advertising.

If gambling is legal, then it is not illegal to advertise it, maybe what you meant is the way they advertise because there is a standard that should be followed, and those who do not follow it will have to face the consequences.

And also, many social media influencers promote gambling sites, even illegal ones because the fee is high, if it is strict in your country, that will not happen, but in the Philippines it is very rampant.

First off, everyone that gambles needs to take responsibility for losing or winning regardless of whatever advert or so because in true honesty nobody did force you to transfer money from your bank account into your gambling account. But with that said, I can understand the need for regulation for adverts that are fraudulent because of a lot of online scams that are out there, so advertising should be transparent and not make unrealistic promises or guarantee outcomes that don't exist because of how big the pay is especially for influencers whom I'm pretty sure are just looking at profits. Without a doubt consumer deserve accurate information so they can make informed decisions rather than being misled by deceptive marketing just to get profits.

In my country it's not regulated and, if you must gamble through their promotion it's left for the said person to do their research before signing up to the gambling site and to crown it all, you need to know what you are signing up for so that you wouldn't be that redirected to phishing site where the person get hacked. I believe there are people who save their card details on their browser to enable them make quick funding to their gambling account.
Nowadays, the rate and manner at which people are getting lured through gambling ads on social media is becoming alarming and the worst is that people who do not know how those things work would think that gambling winning is that very easy or common.

Here in our country, there are so many influencers promoting casinos that are illegal online casinos but they say they are legal, but when you look or check with our government's regulatory agency, you won't see the name of the casino they are promoting.

But you would be surprised even despite that, it is still rampant as if there is a big politician protecting the influencers that we have here in our country,
which is also not good.

Here in Brazil, there's a "gray" area for these influencer-driven advertisements

The regulation here is for betting companies, which have to pay an operating fee and a portion of taxes, and the rest isn't so clear

There was even a very famous case of an influencer with millions of followers who had to explain herself to the Federal Police and other Brazilian agencies because they found several indications of irregularities amounting to millions of reais

Here's the news, but unfortunately only in Portuguese: https://g1.globo.com/politica/noticia/2025/05/13/entenda-em-5-pontos-por-que-virginia-foi-a-cpi-das-bets-e-o-que-ela-disse.ghtml

So my question is, can social media influencers really not be regulated, or maybe in some countries they are already regulated and it is just not properly enforced in ours?
I think the companies running them first will be the one to regulate it until a decision is done by the government. Besides, this has been in talks in the past I guess but still it's being rampant and the companies that runs these social medias don't moderate them well enough I guess. In our country some huge pages has been banned because of these gambling advertisements but I think some people don't learn and I can still see some of them doing the same thing.

That is not how the rules work, companies will always find a way to gain new gamblers so their revenue will increase, so they will do everything to make sure that happens.

They hire influencers, but then it is no longer the direct responsibility of the company on how those influencers will market the casino, it is up to them since they are already paid.
So until the casino receives a notice or violation from regulators, they will treat it as a normal thing since no one makes a proper complaint.

Yeah, it can be regulated. The major area where I want gambling ads to be well regulated is in promoting only legitimate and trusted gambling platforms. Some influencers and public figures have been seen promoting gambling sites that have no reputation. They make people who trust them use these sites, and if they are not lucky, they end up becoming victims of scams. Influencers take advantage of this either because of referral bonuses or the money they are being paid to promote the site.

Influencers should be held accountable if they promote scam and deceitful casinos. This will make them do their research on any platform before recommending it to their followers. Social media is a place full of shits, and some regulations are necessary to reduce some of the insanity going on there.

You know, despite the fact that TV channel can be regulated on the kinds of ads they advertise, it doesn't still mean that a newbie who sees such ads and decide to gamble on that casino will not experience losses. So, social media gambling ads is regulated or not, there will still be those individuals who will let themselves lose a huge amount like the one you mentioned. I think one of the reasons of regulating those ads is to prevent illegal and scam casino to be publicized, but if it's a legal casino that is being advertised, I think it will be allowed and people will stop lose money.

‎I don't see anything bad in it as long as no one is forced or pressured to click their link or bet on their platform. These betting companies make money from ads , in order to see more users into their platforms. They are literally promoting their business and moreover most of them already operate under licenses and regulations. The main concern should be how someone uses it since they are responsible for their own decisions. I think the important thing that should also be advertised is the risk that comes with it and encouraging responsible gambling habits among players.

Influencers always make things extraordinary way to attract people. Things that are not possible they can make it possible for the people to react to it faster. And those who are eager to make money see those things, they will be motivated to use those casinos. Either they end up losing or scammed. In my country, I see those ads in Truecaller and Banking apps more.

but the final decision whether to bet or not is up to the individual. no one is forcing them to bet their whole salary or take loans to bet. the only thing influencers should be held accountable is what gambling sites they promote. if a site is clearly fraudulent the influencer should also be held accountable for the fraud. completely banning gambling site advertising will be impossible because people are gamblers by the nature.

Quote
A man who ran up about £80,000 of gambling debt is calling for more to be done around gambling advertisements, amid coverage of the football World Cup.

I hope we understand that it is not the fault of the social media marketing or influencer who told followers about using his code to bet as referral. That he lost such huge amount is because he betted huge and wants to cash out big too. He would have lost too if he didn't watch the ad because it may not be his first time gambling.

So my question is, can social media influencers really not be regulated, or maybe in some countries they are already regulated and it is just not properly enforced in ours?

They are not regulated in my country. If you are following an influencer and you want to believe whatever is said there, it is at your peril.

Whoever is gambling should understand what they are going in  for before they even start. You don't expect to win big and you also don't think twice incase you lose. That is gambling for you.

However, I think I have read too that same government try to limit casinos from operating in their country because their people lose alot of money to gambling but not yet happening in my country.
