I want to paint a scenario. I got a friend that won without any research. Just went ahead to pick random teams and placed a bet on them. And another friend that did a lot of research, spent hours doing it before he picked the team he would like to bet on. At the end of the day, my  friend that did so much research lost. Gambling is all about luck. Nothing more. But there are instances were proper research gets you wins. That's why I call it luck.

You don't really even need personal anecdotes for that, as they won't prove anything. You could make opposite points where people lose by betting randomly and people winning with research.

You can just use math and logic to explain it's about luck. Though with that approach of instinctive betting that person might find it more difficult to experience more wins as time goes on but then its still a matter of luck even after spending several hours looking at the stats only to come up with what you think will play out. I agree with you, in gambling we have to be prepared for all kinds of outcomes, and since in gambling everything is possible, win or lose, we always have to be prepared to accept the most negative outcome, you expect to win, but be prepared to lose too. Ones i decided to get the max multipler on plinko, and for that i placed 10,000 bets, but saddly i wasn't able to get that win. But the next day when i came back to the casino i placed a bet and got x9900 on the first try. And i call that one my luckiest win ever. If we don't count the otrhe 10k bets then it was a miracle. But wasn't easy to get, at that point i give up and that las bet was with my last balance on the casino.

I have had lots of wins in gambling but I have not really had a major win that I can create such a huge memory in my head. Even sometimes that I do hit big multiplier in casinos, the bet size are small so the returns are not that big.
