To buy or not to buy?

The crypto market has been in the "red zone" (bearish) for quite some time now. Altcoins have been hit real hard, losing a significant portion of their value compared to Bitcoin. Uncertainty is very high right now.

It makes me wonder whenever now it's a good time to buy more alts (especially prominent alts) or should I wait a little longer? I hear that central banks will keep rates high (or raise them) due to the deteriorating economic situation. If that's the case, then crypto will continue to decline during the remainder of the year.

What do you think?

Now is the perfect time to buy Bitcoin and not altcoins, the reason is because most of the altcoins that plumbed in price in the bear market will likely not to make any recovering in the near future reason being tht mos altcoins lack the support of the market to make them a recovery, but if is Bitcoin we can be restricted assured that the price will recover to even make a new all time high price.

If someone is lucky enough to get some good altcoins at this point, it is possible that they will make profits later as the market recovers. However, the scariest part is deciding which altcoins will be able to survive this bear market. So, we have to be careful about which kind of altcoins we choose to invest in.I know someone  during the last bear market, bought some altcoins at low prices, thinking that during the bull market they would make a profit, as we usually experience. But in the end, out of the three altcoins they invested in, only one survived the bear market. The remaining two were not able to survive.So, the problem is not whether this is the right time to buy or not. The real question should be: how long will the altcoin survive?

I would say, since bitcoin is already low as well, there is no reason to buy altcoins right now. Alts are there so that when bitcoin reaches a top point, you can buy alts and make a profit.

However, when bitcoin itself is low, and you could make 3x or 4x profit easily on the next recovery bull period, maybe even more, then why need something else?

We are getting at 60k and lower, maybe reaching 50k, and that means 4x is possible with 200k, if we reach 40k then it would be 5x profit. And I am talking about just bare minimums, why need anything more risky when bitcoin gives you that?

Is it that, or is it because Justin Sun has been shilling TRON? Some say he manipulates the market with the very exchange he owns (which is HTX). Believe me, TRX is nothing but a ghost town. Only stablecoins are keeping it alive. Particularly, the USDT stablecoin. But other chains are picking up, so it won't be long before TRON fades away into oblivion. It will turn into another "meme" coin.

As for other altcoins, there are a few that have potential to go all the way to the moon. A very small few, because most of them are overhyped. It's an unpredictable market, so anything can happen in the future. Just diversify, and you'll have nothing to worry about.

The problem with "should I buy alts now?" question is, what do you want to buy? Because if you pick a good one, then yeah buying right now is a smart move, but if you buy something bad, then it is a bad idea to get it.

I would say that the smartest way to move would be making sure that you pick the right altcoin because bad then it will hurt you. I personally agree that it is going to be something that will not be easy to handle, and for that reason I think we should be considering how this is not the right question to ask.

For me, only Hyperliquid is performing well right now when the market is crashing, while other altcoins have experienced a decline with low prices, I will not recommend certain altcoins because it is risky for those who buy, but I myself do not buy many altcoins now, only the top 10 altcoins, and even then the allocation is small from the entire portfolio I have.

Altcoins is harder and harder to predict, most altcoins that has pumped within 24h are some random altcoin that nobody hold and it reeks of manipulation.
Just look at the image above, the most random alt is the one going up. SNX is going up despite their sUSD (Synthethix USD) is depegged and trade around $0.25.

That is the hard part of altcoins, you can't predict which direction the market will go and which coin will be pumping, most of their market pump comes unexpected and those that investor are holding hardly pump like those random one that you see, I think the dev teams knows exactly what they are doing in other to keep investor far from making the actual profits and relying on luck just to make something out of their investment.

In the current market conditions including altcoins in my portfolio is honestly the thing I'm most afraid of. For some reason seeing the increasingly directionless growth of altcoins, many are dying or being abandoned by investors. Even if I wanted to try, I'd prefer to capitalize on trends and hype with limited funds, considering that in these market conditions, securing quick profits is paramount.

Most altcoins turned into PoS "shitcoins" just to please governments. After all, there was a lot of FUD surrounding PoW crypto's (particularly Bitcoin) high energy consumption. The transition from PoW to PoS, greatly undermined most Blockchain networks' decentralization. Ethereum is considered among the most decentralized and reliable cryptocurrencies on the market, but it hasn't done quite well over the past few years. Price-wise, of course. All of the focus is on Bitcoin.

For altcoin season to make a comeback, something big must happen. I'd "stick" to buying top-ranked altcoins in market cap (usually the top 10) just to be safe. Only invest a small portion, because of the high risks involved with altcoins. Bitcoin is and will always be the best choice. Just my two sats.

Your choice but consider it as gambling, not an investment.

Altcoin is very hard to predict,so just as you have said ,it should be considered as a gambling and that should be a personal  choice,one need to be very careful in other not to regret tomorrow, only few are right who his very difficult, altcoin has be performing poorly especially when one can't predict it .

I see altcoins as gambling. So the question look like asking people if you should gamble or not.

You can use DCA, but you can let the allocation on altcoins be little if compared to your bitcoin investment. I think buying some altcoins now will later be profitable, but my prediction can be wrong because many altcoins may not be not trustworthy.

Totally agree, it's quite a gamble to buy alt coins right now, because we don't know if their prices will continue to fall. Also if you decide to invest in an alt coin you should be prepared to loose the whole capital you put in it.

This is the best time we can invest as the market is bearish, we are only expected to conduct research that is necessary enough for us to avoid investing in a coin that will later dump and fail us, bitcoin together with any altcoin we are going to invest most have a little time giving to mature before we can sell so that as to be in profit after we have invested.

Recap in 1 line, only 53% drop from the TOP et we are not in discount zone yet. I will be interested buying Bitcoin in 25/30k zone. Carreful to the sell zone in 78/83k, it could launch a new downtrend to 20/44k.

You mean buying altcoins in the low price will not be profitable? It will be profitable if you buy altcoin that have strong team that will not allow their customers not to start quitting their investment, but since bitcoin started causing the decrease of altcoins, is very easy for investors to know what will happen to altcoins price when bitcoin price start increasing or decreasing because you will begin to see altcoins price decreasing like what is happening to altcoins right now.

Of course. I know how crypto usually behaves. I only asked to know what others are doing in a time like this. Only out of curiosity. Because during a bear market, most tend to panic and hold off on buying more coins. The majority tends to buy high and sell low. And that's the biggest mistake you can make right now. Most altcoins are a gamble, as they can either go up or down in an instant. These past years, they've been going down with no indication of rising anytime soon. I'm comparing their latest ATH price vs today. Like ETH for instance, which has been struggling to retain higher market prices since the ATH of 2021.

We're going to need to wait quite a while before alt season makes a comeback. I'm in no hurry to see this happen. I'd buy, "hodl", and forget about the rest.
