According to the current World Cup rules, 32 out of 48 teams advance to the round of 32. Therefore, the African teams performed slightly above average. In my opinion, this can hardly be called a triumph.

Not a single African team finished first in their group. And a very difficult qualifying tournament lies ahead. Only the strongest football teams will reach the final.

Yes, African football teams certainly have great potential. I don't even rule out the possibility that one of them could reach the final. However, they will face the best European and South American teams. And these are very strong opponents. And the competition will be very tough. 🦾

We cannot call it a moment of glory for African teams just yet until the world cup is over but from we can all see that African teams are doing very well in this world cup and honestly a lot of us that are Africans didn't even expect this from them. From the way I see it I doubt if Any African team can win this world cup.

Waiting to see the end of the tournament to find out which teams will make it to the final is the most interesting thing. I think having a good number of African teams still in the tournament is a memorable moment for Africa, as Africa has never had this many teams in a World Cup tournament before. The way the game is progressing makes it an interesting moment for Africa. It would be nice if an African team could end up in the top four at the end of the tournament, just like in the last World Cup in 2022.

You are right and this is a big factor to consider because it shows that they are going to meet the best teams from the other groups. Although that's not just about it as there are also teams that came out Ist but have gone home and more like that will still go home. The possibility for African country to still reach the semi final is there with the best 9 so far. I hope that Morocco finds it easy with Canada in their next match.

This world cup is quite unpredictable and I have seen so many of these matches going againts what many gamblers had predicted. As of what we have now, only Morocco has qualified for the round of 16, out of the nine African sides that made it into the round of 32 yet with some other sides left to play, however Ivory Coast already out of the tournament.

Hopes on Dr Congo and Senegal, playing big nations, let's hope for wonders like Paraguay did to Germany.

Quite fitting, I saw in another thread that they are already talking about African teams and thinking Europe is collapsing.

I agree that African teams must have made serious progress. Otherwise, it would not have been possible for more African teams to reach the round of 32. But we cannot call it a show of strength so quickly. However, I will not deny that Morocco's tiebreaker victory over the Netherlands exhibits their dedicated value and combat spirit.

This is definitely a positive aspect for the development of African football. But the knockout stages are going to be quite difficult.

Still, I really want an African team to go all the way to the semi-finals this time.

I'm still in the black (about +200% of my deposit), but games between favorites and underdogs don't seem like they're suitable for betting (in the sense that they offer some kind of special opportunity). The odds on the favorites are very low, so to get good odds you have to take higher risks, like a large negative handicap, but since the motivation of the favorites is low (they feel safe because of the tournament format where even most third-place finishers make it to the playoffs), this can easily work against you.

yes, there were some big surprises at this championship like draws between Spain and Cape Verde or Portugal and DR Congo. as far as I remember, the odds on the favorites in those matches were below 1.1. I prefer not to bet on such odds. although it's worth noting that Spain and Portugal later crushed their weaker opponents.

but if we take the playoffs, the odds on Canada win were around 1.7, as were those on a Brazil win. now I see that the odds on France win are 1.3 and on England win also around 1.3. it might be low for a single bet but for parlay it's fine. and now motivation of the favorites is very high.

Maybe to say that this is a glorious moment for the African team looks premature, because so far only Morocco has qualified for the round of 16, and even then they still need to compete again in the next round and it will definitely be more difficult for them.. but by seeing that 9 African representatives qualified for the round of 32, it was a good performance for the African representatives as a whole and showed that there was an increase in the quality and consistency of African teams in competing in the world cup, although the chances of them winning the world cup may be very small.

Just as you have said, keeping up to that unbelievable expectations is what I am still doubtful of because all African teams always knows how to turn the table against themselves when all hope have been placed on them.

This is season Africa teams really perform well in this World Cup as they where able to make it where people didn’t expected to reach, but with their a lots of efforts they make it possible y qualify to the playoffs. But I think it’s too early to declare or say that their World Cup is a moment of glory for Africa teams, since is not that the World Cup as come to and an end let us give time to see what will happen.

Because I can see that this World Cup has been more tough them before as I can see that even some countries that where expected to far in this tournament has been eliminated, so in this stage it’s very difficult to predict who can be the winner of the tournament in the next few weeks.

Morocco played good football.
I think there is something they are doing that other african countries not performing well, especially Nigeria should watch and learn from them.
They all played as a team from the attack to the defense, it was such a beautiful game to watch. Maybe they have more funding and support for their football compared to other African countries. We need to learn from them. My prediction is that they and Ghana are would make Africa proud. Ghana's next match is July 3.

You are right, they really impress people with their tricks, as no one was actually expecting that and if they keep to maintain this stand, that means they will really go a long way. Also, this game its for them to just be consistent with their plans, and maintain the discipline in them, like you said earlier, they will surely go deep. And with the way they are giving their opponent tough, it shows they are really up for a fight to ensure they achieve their plans, as it will make them happy and fulfilled.

Excellent, great job. Honestly, after Morocco's run in the last World Cup, it’s all about consistency now. African football can still be a bit 'naive' at times, but it’s definitely growing. In today’s game, Ivory Coast could have pulled it off; in fact, I think they played better football than Norway.

That said, it’s sad to read comments from some users—even some who say they are from Africa—being so pessimistic. To me, the most exciting thing about the World Cup is that any team can advance past any stage, and when you're the underdog, just being there is already a massive achievement. Even though I’m not African, I always get hyped when an African team does well. I hope more of them reach the quarterfinals... as long as they lose whenever they face South American teams, that is.

That is the beauty of the match, we never think that but that is happens. I think African teams learned from their mistake long before this so they learned more and improving their performance.

Maybe this will just beginning and we will see many more surprises from them.

But they will not pass every matches easily because the opponent will stops them without giving up so African teams must show their best performance and beat the opponents.

So far we can say yes, the 2026 World Cup is a glory for Africa, but we are still in the second round and it is not possible to make a final judgment until the end of the World Cup. We do not know whether the African teams will reach the next rounds or not.

But I think Morocco will repeat what they did in the last World Cup and reach the semi-finals, but as for the final match, as usual, I think it will be either a South American or a match between South America and Europe.
