WBO has ordered Devin Haney to fight Keyshawn Davis for a mandatory fight and has given 20 days to negotiate and reach an agreement within that time frame. If they fail to reach an agreement within the 20 days time frame, WBO will conduct a purse bid, and Haney will get 75% of the split while Davis will get 25% of the split(which is very favourable for Haney).

We all know who Devin Haney is, but if you are curious about Keyshawn Davis, he currently has a 15-0 record. He won against Denys Berinchyk in February 2025 via Knockout in the 4th round and was successfully able to get the WBO lightweight title, but lost it during his title defence because he failed to pass the weigh in, and was stripped of his belt.

Haney vs. Shakur is one of the worst stylistic matchups I can imagine. There is going to be a lot of hugging and running around if they did face each other.

In any case I wanted to see this fight. I agree that Davis is a very dangerous opponent for Haney, and this could end up like a Ryan Garcia type of demolition to Devin Haney. So he might avoid this fight at any cause.

On the other hand, I also agree with @FinneysTrueVision with regards to the style of Shakur vs Haney. They have the same style and I don't see that they will engage in the center of the ring. Two defensive fighter at the ring doesn't look good as they could be going on their bicycle and run from each other.

I totally agree, style makes a fight its going to be a  boring and a long night putting these two counter punchers who love to run around the ring. Keyshawn Davis is agressive type of guy who loves to mix it up, and Haney will have a long night running with this guy.
Keyshawn Davis has good potential. Every fight fan loves to see a guy who loves to mix it up and is not afraid to get hit, so he can give his own. Haney will be the heavy favorite, but Keyshawn Davis can deliver a big surprise, so it's going to be an interesting fight, and it's a way better fight than Haney - Stevenson.

There is always time for him to fight Shakur, and maybe that will be the right time. But right now, it is not his “wants” that will be followed because this is a mandatory fight. That makes them boring to watch because of that, imagine if they just throw punches and then run, then repeat it without the real action that fans want to see. So maybe that is the reason why they did not meet each other, as promoters know that the fight will not gain much interest from the crowd, they may have the title but their fighting style is not entertaining. People want to see boxers like Canelo and Pacman, who are not afraid to go forward and look for a knockout, not someone who just wants to score and win.

You are right, Keyshawn has a lot to gain on this fight as the possibility of him beating Devin Haney is quite high. I have seen a couple of his fights and can say that Keyshawn is the next big thing in boxing while for Haney he would get a little money from this fight so i think they would think very hard if they will heed WBO's command. As for Shakur vs Haney, this fight could be boring for some as both are technical fighters but i guess this fight could give both fighters the money and the fame.

He will be the next big thing if he can beat Haney, but if he loses this fight, it will be hard to expect that because he will no longer be undefeated. I think some boxers really try to find a good matchup that they believe they can win just to protect their undefeated record. But in this one, if Davis does not show dominance in the ring and prove that he can KO Haney, he will likely just lose on the judges’ scorecards.

Right now, it's clear that Haney holds the cards with a 75/25 split cut, of which his percentage is greater. Like you said, Haney's eyes are on a more bigger match with perhaps Liam Paro or Shakur Stevenson or Gervonta Davis of whom he recently teased on X, making him a potential opponent.
Haney could potentially vacate the belt with no conclusions on current negotiations and look up to the more challenging opponent I mentioned already.

I disagree though, Keyshawn Davis and his manager doesn't have any leverage here, they know that they need to go be the A-side to at least get a chance to fight for the belt. And if they think that Haney is a easy fight for them, then they can easily sit down and sign the contract.

A good 60/40 or even 75/25 split is big for them already as they are fighting a name boxer and defeating him will be a good resume for him. I don't think that Haney have any other choice here but to accept the fight unless he is willing to go a rematch with Ryan Garcia.

That is Haney's weakness, fighting heavy handed boxers. But I do hope though that in this weight class, I least Haney might be steady with that added weight. But Davis is dangerous as he has power and very ambitious too.
