It is really unfortunate, but it is too late to give advice or seek medical help to cure your friend. It looks like he became heavily involved in physical gambling, since he ultimately started wagering his household items.

Sometimes it’s good for one to share their experiences or problems to other people for help or support them to avoid any challenge they might be struggling to overcome. The biggest and first problem when we gamble  regularly is that we become greedy. We want to win the jackpot. We do not take big risk to  win big amount. And we lose  everything.

This is true. I always advocate the need for a support system especially when a gambler cannot control his habits.

However, those who are financially well off and gamble are at a higher risk of becoming addicted than others. Gambling can ruin anyone both physically, mentally and psychologically.. that's why you shouldn't see gambling as anything aside from a mean of entertainment and by that, you know that you aren't playing for the money.
