Yes, and the funny thing is that some gamblers dont understand that been financial freedom doesnt prevent a gambler from addiction because addiction is something that has to do with behavioral addiction, just like alcohol, nd drug affected people from all different levels of income.

Yes they can, through greed. The problem is not wanting financial freedom through gambling cause they're already financially okay, the problem is wanting more and trying to increase their wealth with gambling and that's where greed step in. Then they'll start betting or gambling with a huge amount on risky odds.
 The problem about greedy gamblers is that they're never satisfied or give up when they lose that's why the dude ended up selling his properties to keep trying, he couldn't accept defeat and kept trying to recover what he lost. Gambling can wreck someone's life if the person don't gamble with Wisdom and control their gambling habits, being rich or poor doesn't mean the individual won't gamble anymore, it's just like a game and some people bet for fun while others gamble to make profits, those that are too emotionally attached to gamblings and looses easily get trapped in the process because they would want to chase looses and end up being victims of addiction. Once anyone is addicted you will pay a blind eye to the important things that are your priorities in life and commit yourself to gambling.

Anybody can be addicted if they fail to do what is right. Gambling addiction is not limited to people in rural impoverished areas because even rich people could be greedy and want to gamble above their income.

I know some big business owners with sound financial knowledge who got addicted to gambling. It is a behavioral disorder that can affect anybody who is not careful.

In the end, it all comes down to your mindset. If someone is wealthy and genuinely sees gambling as nothing more than entertainment, they probably won't expect to make a profit from it. Sure, there are wealthy gamblers who may have started out gambling just for fun but eventually became addicted. But I believe those people didn't stick to that mindset consistently and ended up chasing bigger and bigger wins.

In order to draw the right conclusions, we must first recognize that gambling is a PAYING ENTERTAINMENT ! Paid entertainment is diametrically opposed to the word "earning" because it is an "expenditure of funds".

You are very correct, many people believe that the only people who can fall into gambling addiction are people who don’t have money. Yes I also understand that some people can try their luck that way because of living a situation of pure desperation, but any rational person should understand that this is practically an economic suicide. BTW, I thought that the friend's OP died when I read he lost it, and although he has fallen into deep disgrace, I am glad to know that he is still alive and that there may still be hope for him.

It was incredibly sad, and I can imagine how his wife must have felt. Essentially, from this incident, we can conclude that addiction knows no bounds; anyone can be affected by addiction and end up miserable. Even though this person already had the right way to earn money that allowed him to live comfortably with his family, "what else are you looking for?" was a perfectly appropriate question for him.

The bottom line is to be careful about gambling, and so far, I've always discouraged or refused anyone who asked me to teach them how to gamble. This doesn't mean I don't trust them, but I prefer prevention over cure.

Yes you are right. Actually we discussed this a lot of time here. If anyone treat gambling like source of income gambling will destroy his life not just his life but also the life of his/her close relatives. I am very sorry to hear about your friend. Addiction does not come from looking at one's bank balance. Chasing losses is where people get into the biggest danger. And this mentality that everything will be fine if you just place last one bet puts people in the biggest danger.
