People have been predicting the end of the world for centuries, and we are still here. It's like when someone says this year will be the worst ever, then somehow we survive and move on. I will use Nigeria my country as an example. When the new administration took oath of office the very first day, the president made a bold announcement that the ever controversial fuel subsidy was removed, many said it would be the end of the country. Prices went up, people suffered, but life continued. Those who had alternative means, like solar power or side businesses, were able to cope better than those who depended completely on the system.

When I hear people talk about the world ending I do ask myself how many times would I continue to hear that and yet the world still stands firm and kicking into new dimension. The world ends for a person immediately they're dead, at least for now till the Armageddon.

Am fascinated by what you said about being self reliance as to be able to withstand strong even in bad economic period due to bad governance but on the other side, I just want to say that even when people could try build a self reliant mechanism for themselves, they can't create their own security architecture as that was why the government as a contract was initiated in the first instance of society.
