This is the one of the worse things that could happen to a holder. When the goal is holding to the moon but life hits with unexpected challenges that swallows all you have at hand but still seem like just one step in a mile journey, and hungers for more, the rules theoretically built, becomes difficult to abide to. This is actually an unwanted gut test that pressures one to utilize an ideal investment for survival.

In such a nightmare like this the last thing I’ll ever think of is borrowing, the high interest loans we have today ain’t funny. If aggressively selling out some properties that are of less utility will fix it then I will.
But in cases where it doesn’t, I’ll have to look past the golden rule and sell some portion of my bitcoin. Off course bitcoin is a high liquid asset and the truth is liquidity at that point is I need to save myself from crisis.
It will hurt soo much cutting short a long term savings plans. but at the end of the day, your peace and security is what you need in this present our to build the future so it’s worth the sacrifice.

I agree with you that borrowing money would be the last of the alternatives, considering the high interest rates involved. It's preferable to sell some stuff you can spare at the current time and which won't be so valuable like Bitcoin in the future. This way, you protect your investment for future gains, despite the emergency in the current moment. And in case it's still not enough, well, it's a hard choice to get rid of Bitcoin before the right moment, but if it has to be done, then let's do it. The circumstances would be demanding it for some reason, I believe.

The question is strange though, emergency funds is an alternative which we all agree to a certain extend because the funds depends entirely on an investor level. If anyone is finding it difficult to keep up with their emergency funds in terms of needing helping hand and it has to do with selling their bitcoin either borrowing money or selling their property then such person is probably buying much bitcoin than their financial ability can handle which is not advisable, a proper plan alongside management will never land an investor in such difficult situation, it’s never how much the emergency funds cost instead how far is our management plan going to sustain us.

An emergency fund is not an alternative. It is simply a layer of financial protection to help you reduce or avoid financial pressure when unexpected situations arise.

It is only one part of a financial plan, not a solution to every financial problem. Meanwhile, emergencies are unpredictable and sometimes far more serious than you might imagine.

So just because someone does not have enough money in their emergency fund to deal with an unexpected situation does not mean they have a poor financial plan.

If someone has a plan to invest and if they plan to hold that investment for a long time, then they should definitely keep an emergency fund as a backup for this holding. An emergency fund may be needed at a time when you do not have enough money in hand, then you can get rid of your current danger by taking money from the emergency fund. And if you do not have an emergency fund, then you will definitely have to sell the investment you have made at an untimely time and you will have to face the current situation again from this sold money. That is, those are the wise ones who keep an adequate amount of emergency fund as a backup after investing.

Even if you are not an investor, an emergency fund is still essential because unexpected situations can happen to anyone, not just investors. Things will get much worse if you do not have any financial cushion to deal with them.

An emergency fund is essential for everyone. Otherwise, an unexpected event could force us to borrow money or, worse, plunge us into a financial crisis.

This is a very difficult situation but just as you said borrowing will be an alternative but I will not advise it because it will be another biggest trap to your investment. The only thing I think of is to get rid of some of my properties, which I know how less value they are, meaning which cannot stop me from living my life to take care of situation. Bitcoin is a very valuable asset which I will find very difficult to sell it out just to solve this problem, sometimes we face a lot of challenges when it comes to facing emergency emergency, because we don't really know when any emergency will arise and we don't actually know how big is going to be, that is why I said is better I should get rid of some properties to fix the problem and leave my bitcoin polifolio growing.

I totally agree with you about the emergency fund that is very important for anyone either investors or not because it is a fortress we face financial problems that are beyond our control, many people underestimate the emergency fund and even think it only needs to be owned by businessmen or investors even though the emergency fund is very important for us alone in, we don't know when we stop working and we don't know when we get sick, so we need an emergency fund to breathe a long sigh of relief in difficult situations.

If you have a reliable source of income, you can consider borrowing first and pay it once you have saved enough. But if you are tight with your finances, then the last option would be to sell bitcoin. Some invest in bitcoin not just to prepare for their future retirement, but also to act as emergency fund when their emergency fund savings aren't sufficient enough. So this serves its purpose actually.

You can still buy bitcoin in the future when you have sufficient capital, but you cannot buy back the life or play the time machine, so always know your top priority. Bitcoin can be earn again, but life and moment cannot.

You may have a reliable source of income and collide with a problem that is 2 times bigger than the income you earn, the only option to sell and take care of what you need to do, that's if it warrant the problem at the moment. You then can use your income to do DCA to buy more Bitcoin until you have more Bitcoin at hand or you may proceed to buy more than what you sold earlier, there is endless opportunities to buying Bitcoin that you never expected.

I'm not against loan, I do it too but my reason is not buying Bitcoin, it's another thing entirely which does not warrant me to do anything but it's better for me that way since I have other work I'm doing. Don't do like I do but do as I say Grin. Most often, the loan interest are not even friendly that you can't even follow up, some people have been indebted to things they never even planned in their life, it can go both ways so avoid loans.

A hospital stay could consume a six-figure savings in the USA. In a poor market, a job loss can last for 14 months. An emergency of a family member is your emergency overnight. Spreadsheets do not come across when life gets in the way. So what do you actually do. Okay.

First you triage emotionally before you triage financially. When you are in panic mode, you will make the worst version of each of the decisions that you can make. You will sell at the lowest price. You will be loaned at the worst rates. You will liquidate things that took years to build in exchange for relief that lasts weeks.

Ideally though, Bitcoin should be the last thing to sell if it is actually part of your long term plan. Well I would first look at using my emergency fund, cutting unnecessary expenses, borrowing only if I know I can comfortably repay it or maybe selling non essential belongings before even touching my Bitcoin because I know the long term implications of touching.

By being responsible and practicing some basic financial literacy, you can protect yourself from unnecessary problems.

Indeed, not everyone truly understand the importance of having an emergency fund.

If I remember correctly, there was a discussion about whether people should use their emergency fund to invest in Bitcoin. You know what? Many investor support this idea and consider it a smart move. Even more surprising, some of them were long time investor.

I don't think they lack basic financial knowledge. Perhap they have never experienced a real emergency, so they underestimate its importance. And that is a very dangerous mindset.

Under such conditions what will you do between selling your Bitcoin, borrowing money and selling other belongings etc.

One thing about life is that you cannot be well prepared for some certain things, If emergencies like this occurs and even your savings coupled with emergency funds cannot help solve the emergency most especially if it’s life threatening because that’s the emergency that usually runs anyone down. You’re free to look into your bitcoin holdings or take a loan. The option of which depends on your capability and stance.

You can actually liquidate or sell some of your bitcoin holdings if for example your holdings is not in a loss, for exampl your average buy price is $25k that means even at current bears market you are still overall profitable and can actually sell off some bitcoin. But in a case that you’re actually down in loss like your average buy price is $80k and you’re seriously in loss then you can actually look towards taking loan

For example you can take a loan if you have an income stream like salary from your work place and ask that certain percentage is taken off your salary as this can be better than selling your bitcoin at loss. But in a car where you don’t have an income stream like this to take loan with, I think you have no other choice than to sell off your bitcoin because life comes ahead of any investment.

You are right. But just what if the loan taken tends to be higher in interest than the loss you would have incurred if you sell. One will have to sell off. But the main aim here is to access the situation. Selling your Bitcoin should be your last resort after all other options has been executed. You have to exhaust all options. Is only when you have tried to sought out funds from everywhere and there's none then you can sell. Life is more important.

Well, I have made up my mind that not to take loans if ever I can afford to do some things and pay it with my own money. So if I have run out of emergency funds and I'll need that money right now. I'll have to sell, let's face the reality that even if we say that we're going to hold forever. We have to do the decision just to solve that problem instantly, and that's through selling from the few we've acquired long time ago. Don't feel guilty through it because that's how the rich moves as well, they sell some of their acquired assets for them to solve the problem they've faced.

Well emergency funds are money kept aside incase of emergency, and you will not have to touch your Bitcoin. And yes there could be emergency that even emergency funds may not be enough, but if the emergency is a want, it can wait or even be ignored because protection of you Bitcoin is very important, but if the emergency is a need then you will have no other choice but to sell some portions your coins in mind to keep on investing regardless.

I agree with you. Bitcoin should be the last resort in any emergency that can be sold. If someone faces an emergency financial problem, he should first see if he has any money saved. If he does not have it, he should use his bank balance, if any. If the financial problem is more serious where a large amount of money is needed to solve it, then he should use the backup funds. In this way, if he is not able to solve the problem, then as a last resort, he can sell his bitcoin holding.

An emergency fund is essential for everyone. Otherwise, an unexpected event could force us to borrow money or, worse, plunge us into a financial crisis.
While we are trying to have an emergency fund for ourselves. It's likely that there are tons of these people, investors and not that can't afford it.

Basically, it's about what they prioritize and soon if something unexpected comes to them. That's the time that they'll give it a time for themselves to start stacking and having an emergency fund.

We'll definitely be forced to either sell or take a loan even if it's against our will as long as the situation permits.

As an investor it's advisable to keep emergency funds to ensure that your Bitcoin asset management is done to the utmost, however there could be circumstances that emergency funds won't or might not be enough to handle the matter at hand whether a mistake or totally unforseen and uncontrollable happening. A very debilitating situation that the thinking of selling Bitcoin holding is already part of the options.

Under such conditions what will you do between selling your Bitcoin, borrowing money and selling other belongings etc.
Before making any investment, one should ensure that there is an emergency fund because one cannot withdraw profits from an investment very quickly and the investment cannot be withdrawn. Therefore, if there is not enough emergency fund, one either has to leave the investment at a loss or borrow money for backup at that time.

I always keep my emergency fund and then invest, but if it ever happens that I don't have enough money but I am in an emergency situation, then if the investment is in loss, I will not sell Bitcoin, but I will try to back it up by borrowing. But if there is a situation where there is no situation to borrow, then I will be forced to sell Bitcoin because I have to save my life first.

So just because someone does not have enough money in their emergency fund to deal with an unexpected situation does not mean they have a poor financial plan.
Well, even though you're right, I would say one could say that a person has poor financial planning if they have made investments but don't have enough funds saved for emergency situations. You are right that emergencies can sometimes be very severe and out of our imagination, but if you face such a situation, and you see that your emergency funds aren't able to cover all the expenses, and then you have investments on the side such as Bitcoin investments or in any other asset, and now you are compelled to liquidate your assets to cover the emergency expenses, then it simply means you didn't plan your finances properly.

Someone who doesn't have a good amount saved for emergencies should not be making investments with the hope that they might get profits soon and then they will add more funds into their emergency funds, because investments, especially when they are done in a volatile and unpredictable market, cannot be taken as investments that can provide guaranteed profits in the short run, which is why one should make sure they save money first, have enough emergency funds to tackle almost any emergency, and then if they are capable enough, they should go with investments so that in an emergency situation, they don't have to sell their assets at a loss to cover the expenses.

If you are stuck in life and you have no option left, I see no reason why you shouldn’t sell your bitcoin and take care of anything which you are suppose to take care of, we should know that we can always buy back the bitcoin which we sold at anytime, and if you are lucky, you might be buying at cheaper price, but if you are unlucky, you going to be buying at higher price, but the most interesting part is that you can buy back your bitcoin at any moment.

You don’t expect me to have some health challenges, and am having bitcoin in my wallet and I won’t be selling it, it’s not really possible, your health is suppose to be the first, then you can talk about your investment.

Life is inevitable; we are going to die soon, and it is true that in the chase of accumulating more Bitcoins, we sometimes forget the main benefit we bought them for in the first place. Which is to preserve the real value of our money for a long time, so when we have the need, we will use it without thinking twice. Imagine holding $10k in your bank for 10 years and seeing it devalued by $5k while holding the same amount in Bitcoin and seeing it become worth around $100k at least. Is it not good?

And when you have already made a profit and are in need of money, why won't you sell? We must sell because we can't take money with us to the grave. We have to utilise it. Otherwise, we suffered all this time for nothing.
