Is player protection better than a total gambling ban?

You are very correct and I completely agree with you, this was exactly the same thing I sat down one night and began to calculate, and the reason was because I was making money for sure, atleast not much but enough to help me and my family live a mini comfortable life, but unfortunately, things were always hard, I get money today, and in 2 days time, I am completely broke and searching for where to borrow money, I was a very active gambler then and one day, I read a book which Ive forgotten its title, it talked about managing finance and cutting down on things that are not very important to help save more money.

That night, I decide to calculate the small small money I used to spend on gambling in a day, and then times seven days, and then times 4 weeks,, I realised I've even spending on gambling much more than i even spend on feeding myself and family..
I didn't need any one to advice me anymore, I resolved not to gamble anymore and for over 8 months, I didn't visit any casino let alone place a single bet, and indeed, it worked, my borrowing reduced drastically, I was able to start saving and so far, it's been good, it's recently I started betting again but now, I do it once in a while, no more everyday like before..

I think it's important for every adult to realize as early as possible that the main person you can and should rely on is yourself. If other people or the government help you, that's great. But if they don't, it's not the end of the world, you can still handle life's challenges on your own. I believe it's best to build your plans with that mindset. When it comes to gambling, I think governments are focusing on the wrong approach by trying to impose more restrictions. In my opinion, prohibitions are unnecessary as long as a person's actions aren't harming others. Instead of introducing more bans, governments should invest in public programs that promote financial literacy. That way, people would be less likely to believe the illusion that gambling is a realistic way to become rich.

Gambling can be banned, of course, but it won't do much good, because players will still find ways to gamble, even when it's not visible or public. Furthermore, no one can protect players better than themselves, in my opinion. While it's certainly clear that players who are deeply addicted to gambling and are plagued by addiction need the help of others, including friends and family, as well as those who know how to treat them. In short, we need to take a broader view than just bans and other strict restrictions.

government is an institution and also has the limitations it can go as it is only limited to dealing mostly with the institutions and not directly with the gambler. I mean the government can only try to set some regulations to control the frequency of the player which I also don't think that can be easily achieved because what is truly possible in controlling the people and protecting them from gambling addictions and negatives but can only get the gambling companies to not exploit a gambler or something that the government can easily achieve.

This is the problem, we blame government for our mistakes. Gambling is gambling, it has nothing to do with been employed or not having a job. There are people that fully employed and guess what, they wasted their salaries and wages on gambling and they don't even make profit from those money wasted. You can see that it's not government that it's the problem but people that does the gambling that are the problem, even people that are self employed gamble.

If gambling is ban and people are stop from gambling by the government, we are still going to blame the government from not allowing us to have free will to gamble, if they regulate it and ban some casino we will say that the government is restricting users to plenty of other opportunities and many more. I prefer gambling be allow and anyone that want to gamble can do all they have, it's not like if the government banned it people will stop gambling, they will always gamble.

It is never possible to satisfy every citizen but the government has to do what is good for the most. But banning gambling will not solve the addiction, it just leads to unregulated casinos to flourish in the country that is even worse to track of the shady acitivites. But as both of you said not having a job is not an excuse to gamble and no one should ever see gambling as a source of income, if they do then sooner or later, got a job or not they are going to end up in financial problems.

Many gamblers have become addicted to gambling because of the inability to control themselves while gambling. But it will be something nice if gambling platforms should deploy measures to control the activities of gamblers. It is obvious that many of the gamblers lack self control, and therefore gamble all the time, this type of gambling makes gamblers to loose money without even recovering them, and trying to gain back the money you have lost means  chasing losses, and the more you chase losses the more money you loose, but if the gambling sites can control your gambling activities, your losses will definitely be reduced.

Banning gambling will not really create any positive impact on people activity. Because now these betting sites have become so available that you can bet just by having a smartphone and internet. It is not possible to understand what a person is actually doing online. And in many countries, they may try to block access to betting sites by blocking IP, but even then, that step will not be very useful. Because there are thousands of betting sites that cannot be blocked at once. And people can use VPNs very easily to use the sites. But we should focus on increasing awareness about gambling. So that a person can bet as an adult and bet responsibly so that the amount of his loss is not so much that he cannot bear.
